Chapter 314: Completely Useless

"You guys can go ahead and leave. As for me, I will stay here. But let me tell you something, if we manage to survive, I hope that once you leave this place, you will never come back." The bald-headed leader stated.

When he said those words, the majority of the people around were surprised. In a normal situation, the leader of this territory would have definitely not allowed anybody to leave this place.

Of course going out for adventure was not a problem. But, there was going to be a problem if a member of this territory decided to leave the territory, and join another one.

With a person joining another territory, that meant that a lot of information was going to be revealed to the other territories about this particular territory.

But after the group thought much about it, it was clear that now, the condition of the territory was something that could be determined in the next few minutes. With the gold rank zombie approaching, it was clear that only destruction awaited for this territory.

Additionally, there was no guarantee that whoever it was that managed to get out of this place was going to be capable of surviving.

The two people, having already received permission, they did not wait any longer. During the time that they were waiting, the zombie had already covered a lot of distance, and it was not going to be long before it was before them.

So, they jumped down from the wall, before they retreated back into the territory. Before leaving this place, they had already decided that they were going to take something with them.

The bald-headed leader, Simon, already understood that this group of two was going to do such a thing. Of course, they were not the only one because a few other people decided to join them.

Nevertheless, Simon did not try to stop them. In a situation like this, it was better for all those that were going to participate in the fight to be people who were willing to do something like that.

If he forced them, and during the fight, they committed a blunder that was going to cost them, this was going to be way more troublesome than if they were not present at all.

Completely ignoring the people who had decided to abandon the fight, and the territory, Simon looked at those who had remained behind and said, "Let us fight. We don’t know if we are going to be lucky enough to survive, but since you have decided to remain behind, I do believe that you are prepared for death."

With solemn expressions on their faces, all those that were remaining behind nodded their heads. Simon did not have to say anything else, but instead, he just looked at the zombie that was currently about 100 m away from the wall.

Currently, the majority of the people that were in charge of defending the territory had already cleared a path for the zombie. And since they were the targets of the other zombies, those zombies had followed along.

And now, the zombie was walking towards the territory, steadily. Although the zombie looked completely calm, still, the killing intent that it was emitting was frightening.

Simon took a deep breath. In the next moment, he jumped from the wall, and landed outside of the territory. The moment that he landed on the ground, the ground shook tremendously, as if something heavy had suddenly landed on the ground.

Simon’s hands were then covered with a rocky surface. As he clenched his fist, he stomped onto the ground and charged towards the zombie.

He was currently at level 9 of the silver rank. This was a level that he had only reached recently, during the previous fight. He was lucky enough that he did not fight against the zombie directly, and so, he was not injured during the attack of the zombies.

Although he was at level 9 of the silver rank, he also understood that it was going to be impossible for him to be able to deal with the zombie. Additionally, he had already realized that he and the zombie both shared the same element.

As someone who possessed the earth element, he understood that the majority of the people that possessed the earth element could be considered as brutes.

In a normal situation, he was supposed to be a mage. But due to his luck, he was lucky enough to be given a chance of selecting a profession that was special, a combat mage, the same profession as the one that Olivia possessed.

It was just that the grade of the profession that he possessed was a grade lower than Olivia’s. With the combat mage profession, he was able to deal with a lot of people that tried to oppose him.

It was also due to this reason that the leaders of the other territories did not recklessly attack him. After all, other than the losses that they were going to suffer when the territories fought against each other, it was also not that easy for him to be dealt with.

When the zombie saw that there was a human that was approaching, a hint of disdain appeared in its eyes. Then without saying anything, it simply stomped onto the ground.

Simon who was about to arrive in front of the zombie suddenly detected that he was in danger. Out of pure instincts, he stomped heavily onto the ground, and launched himself towards the right.

It was a good move. But still, he was not fast enough. Due to that reason, an earth pillar suddenly rose from the ground, and hit him from below.

Simon was launched into the air, making him lose his balance. At the same time, there was nothing that he could do, when the zombie began approaching him at incredible speeds.

Of course when he was launched into the air, he was injured, his left foot could not bear the force of the earth pillar as it rose into the air.

Simon was not the only person who had decided to attack the zombie. So, during the time that Simon was launched into the air, the others decided to take this chance and attack the zombie.

But something that made all of them dumbfounded was the fact that although they attacked the zombie, the zombie completely ignored their attacks. Thinking that they were going to be lucky enough to be able to injure the zombie, they continuously attacked with even more vigor.

But something that left them slack jawed was the fact that after their attacks landed on the zombie, they did not cause much damage other than a few white scratches on the skin of the zombie.

This was to be expected considering that the person with the highest combat capability amongst the group that was attacking was at level 8 of the silver rank. With that kind of power level, they were definitely not capable of dealing with a zombie that was in the next rank, and at the second level.

The zombie did not focus much on the attacks that were launched towards it. It simply stepped onto the ground just like the previous time, and several spikes shot out of the ground.

The group was not able to react in time, and the majority of them were pierced by the spikes. And just like that, they died, or grievously injured.

As for Simon, he was hoping that the gravity could work its miracle, allowing him to land on the ground as fast as possible. But, it was impossible for him to land on the ground before the zombie arrived before him.

The zombie clenched its fist and punched towards Simon. Since Simon was in the air, he could not dodge at all. Still, he was not willing to go down just like that.

Mobilizing all the energy in his body, Simon summoned an armor that was entirely made out of rock. The armor covered his entire body, especially his chest area since that was the place that was targeted by the zombie.

It was a good thing that he had decided to use the armor earlier. Otherwise, with the speed at which the zombie was attacking, he would have definitely not been capable of materializing the armor.

Bang! Crack!

The zombie’s punch landed squarely on Simon’s chest. And like a rocket, Simon was blasted backwards at incredible speeds. The rocky armor that had solidified on his body cracked continuously, together with several chest bones.

Boom!

Simon landed heavily onto the ground, forming a small crater. At the same time, the rocky armor that was on his body crumbled completely.

Simon felt that it was extremely difficult for him to breath. Still, just thinking of the fact that behind him, inside the territory, there was his family, he could not continue staying down, although his body demanded for him to remain on the ground.

Just by moving his body a little, the pain that he experienced tremendously increased. At the same time, blood began leaking out of the corner of his lips.

Gah!

Not capable of holding it anymore, Simon coughed out a large amount of blood. Still, he did not give up on trying to get back on his feet.

"Come on will you? You are already injured. You should try to rest first. And other than that, you should perhaps take a healing potion to try and recover. It is only then that you are going to be capable of dealing with this zombie. Well, that’s a lie. With your current power level, it is a surprise that you are still alive after the attack from the zombie. Otherwise, with this current power level of yours, it can be said that you are completely useless." A masculine voice reached Simon’s ears at this point.
