The Soul System in the Apocalypse
Chapter 298: Investment for the Future

Chapter 298: Investment for the Future

After saying his piece, Henry remained silent. He observed Nancy, waiting for her decision. As long as she decided that she was not going to agree to owing him a favor, then, he was going to walk away.

Of course when he was asking her to owe him a favor, it was simply because he was selfish. In this apocalypse, if a person was not selfish enough, they might end up lagging behind when it came to development.

So, with an opportunity like this, Henry was not willing to let it go just like that. But of course, he was also not going to force it to work out. If Nancy decided that she was not going to agree to this matter, then, Henry would just forget about it.

But if she agreed, this was definitely going to help him in his future goals. So, he remained silent as Nancy pondered on the matter.

To say the truth, she had already been tempted by the offer that Henry had offered. Although she was not sure on what method that he was going to use in order to be able to strengthen her territory, but still, she did not doubt that he was someone that possessed the capabilities of doing so.

The mysteries that were surrounding him were not things that she could understand. Nevertheless, she felt reluctant when it came to owing other people favors.

The value of a favor from a person like her who might be capable of developing into a big powerhouse in the future was definitely something big.

But then again, if she decided that she did not want to owe Henry a favor, then that implied that Henry was not going to help. And what if he did not help, didn’t that mean that the territory that she was in charge of was going to be destroyed?

According to Henry, the third stage of the apocalypse was going to be more dangerous than the second stage of the apocalypse. Although until now, there were no changes in the surroundings, in the sky and others, but just the movement of the zombies was enough to tell her that there was something wrong.

It might be true that the movements of the zombies was not even related to the third stage of the apocalypse, but just the presence of the zombies within the city was dangerous. After all, she was not sure if there was going to be another giant zombie like the one that had been killed by Adam in the city.

If just two of them appeared, then this territory might actually end up getting destroyed. After all, currently, her companion beast was injured, and it might take almost a month for it to be able to recover to its peak condition.

But without her companion beast, there was definitely no way that she was going to be able to fight against a zombie like the one that had been killed before. The companion beast was an advantage that she possessed, something that enabled her to easily create this territory.

Of course, she believed that with the presence of Henry and his group in this territory, they would be capable of taking care of a zombie like the one that had appeared before. But, she understood one thing, Henry’s family was not here. And he was the leader of the group.

If he decided to leave this place, did that mean that Olivia was going to go along with him? And if she decided to leave this place, did that imply that her family was going to go with her as well?

If something like that happened, the power level of this territory was going to be reduced. Additionally, there was nothing that she could do to prevent them from leaving this place. If they decided to use force, there was nothing that she could do to stop them from leaving.

After about 5 minutes, Nancy finally came to a decision. She looked at Henry with a serious expression on her face before she expressed her thoughts.

"Okay. I agree to owe you a favor. But other than improving the strength of my territory, I hope that there’s something else that you are going to give me. After all, just like you, as long as I decide to leave this place, I do believe that I can manage to survive in this apocalypse." Nancy stated with a serious expression on her face as she gritted her teeth. This was definitely the most difficult decision that she had made.

Henry looked at her without batting his eyelids. "You know, there is no need for you to say that you are going to abandon this territory. From the way that I can see, and from what I know about you, I do believe that you will not be capable of abandoning this territory at all. It is not even just a matter of the residents here, but, it is about the position that you hold."

Nancy was a little surprised when Henry figured out the truth. But when she thought much about it, it was actually true. From what she had already shown, it was clear that she really cared about this territory. But of course, to the normal people in the territory, it seemed that the leader of the territory cared much about them.

But to a person like Henry, he already understood that having a territory came with its own benefits. And it seemed that Nancy had already gotten this piece of information, and that was the reason why she was trying to hold the territory together as much as she could.

Of course there was something that Henry found to be strange. He did not see a building like the one that belonged to his Domination Star territory. There was supposed to be a main building within the territory, which was the center of the entire territory.

But from the observations that he had made, it was clear that almost all the buildings here had been built by the craftsman and other people within the territory. So, that implied that there was no territory building.

Additionally, if there was a territory building, there would definitely be an invisible shield that protected the entire territory. With the current power level that Nancy possessed, those zombies that occasionally attacked would definitely not be capable of invading the territory at all.

"Forget about that. In any case, you do understand that if you are going to claim this favor in the future, the value of this favor is going to rise. So, that means that whatever it is that you are going to do right now, it has to be something worth it." Nancy simply snorted before she responded.

Of course Henry understood what Nancy was trying to imply. It was clear that she had already understood the reason why he said that he was going to claim the favor in the future when he required it.

"If that is the case, then there’s no problem at all. I’m going to help you with another thing, and that will be healing your companion beast." Henry stated steadily.

Nancy’s eyes immediately widened in surprise. She did not expect that Henry already possessed the information that the crow that she had been riding before was actually her companion beast.

Of course almost everyone in the territory understood that she possessed the crow. But, since she was hiding information about herself, there was none of them that actually knew that the crow was her companion beast.

"How did you know about this?" Nancy asked as she looked at Henry vigilantly. She was not sure on how he was capable of gaining information about her, so, she had to be cautious around him.

From the looks of it, it seemed that there was actually nothing that she could hide from him. And that was something that made her insecure. If there was a person that she could not hide anything from, then she was going to be vulnerable to them. But that was something that she did not like at all.

Henry on the other hand nearly rolled his eyes at the question. Wasn’t it just simple? "What do you expect? Isn’t it normal for me to be able to see your information? At the end of the day, we humans are capable of doing that."

But of course, as he said this, Henry understood something. It seemed that the information that he had seen was not something that he was supposed to do considering that Nancy seemed to be hiding information about herself.

Even he himself had not been capable of seeing her full information. So, it was not going to be a surprise to him if other people were not capable of seeing information about Nancy.

As for his ability to see her information, that was not something that he himself could explain. His information had already been hidden even from Adam and the rest of the group. The most strange thing was the fact that the information about everyone that was related to him in some way was hidden, even if it was just partially.

Although he had already understood that all of this was somehow related to him, the relation itself was something that remained as a mystery to him. At this point, he could only blame the system that he had gotten to be the reason for everything that was happening.

When Nancy heard the response from Henry, of course she did not believe him. But it seemed that he was not going to tell her the truth. So, she decided to give up on that matter. And instead, she focused on another thing that he had said.

"Are you really capable of healing my companion beast?" Nancy asked with a serious expression on her face. When it came to her companion beast, she was extremely serious and concerned. She did not like it if there was going to be a person that was going to joke about her companion beast. So, she hoped that Henry was serious about what he was saying, and not just speaking for the sake of it.
