The Soul System in the Apocalypse -
Chapter 273: The True Story
Chapter 273: The True Story
This territory was constructed quite well. But still, there was one thing that could not be avoided. That was the class division between several people of the territory.
Inside this place, there were people that lived in better houses as compared to others. At the same time, there were others that possessed better equipment as compared to the others.
This was something that was completely inevitable considering that currently, although it was not the wealth that talked much, but it was the personal strength that a person possessed.
In this territory, a person with the highest combat capability will definitely get the highest advantages. At the same time, if they went out of the territory to do the hunting, they would definitely get the highest drops as long as they killed high level apocalyptic creatures.
Vincent was holding a high position within the territory. For that reason, he lived in a big mansion that had been constructed for him. Other than that, the mansion also possessed several people that were working here, either for security or just other services such as cleaning and so on.
The group had just alighted from the cars when suddenly, a group of people came out of the mansion. The one in the lead was a lady, followed by a young man and a few other people. In total, there were about seven people that were coming over.
The moment that Olivia saw the lady in the lead, she had the same expression as the one that she was having during the time that she has seen her father. Without hesitation, she moved forward towards the lady who was having wavy blue hair, one that matched the one that Olivia possessed.
"I missed you a lot!" The lady stated as she took Olivia into her arms. Henry and the others could see that there were actually tears that were coming out of her eyes. Unlike Vincent who had to maintain his composure in front of his subordinates, this lady did not have the same restrictions.
So at this moment, seeing the daughter that she had lost for several months, she could not help but shed tears of happiness. In any case, the two of them had missed each other, and they ended up hugging for about 2 minutes.
They were about to continue hugging when suddenly, the young man who was standing behind the lady coughed a little bit and said, "Are the two of you going to continue hugging like that? And Olivia, don’t you miss your brother?"
Finally, Olivia’s mother let go of Olivia. Olivia on the other hand looked at the young man and snorted as she said, "Aren’t you supposed to be saying that you missed me, and not the other way round?"
"What? Isn’t my presence here already enough to tell you that I missed you?" The young man asked with raised brows.
Immediately after that, he smiled and took a step forward, before pulling Olivia into his embrace. Olivia did not resist, but of course, she did not remain in his embrace for a long time, but just a few seconds before she retreated.
"Come on. You missed me that little bit? I missed you a lot that I can hug you for an entire hour little sis." The young man stated with a forced smile as he looked at Olivia who had already retreated.
"Not like I care." Olivia shook her head as she responded. At this moment, the cold personality that she always possessed also melted a little bit. But still, Henry and the others could see that she was more amicable as compared to before, during the time that they had first met her.
Olivia finally completely ignored her elder brother, and turned around to face Henry’s group. She looked at her mother and went ahead and introduced Henry and the group to her.
From the way that Henry and his group could see, Olivia only cared about her father, mother, and brother. As for the others that were following behind them, Olivia did not seem to see them at all.
These people who had been completely ignored by Olivia had bitter smiles on their faces as they looked at Olivia as she introduced her friends and teammates to her mother and brother.
Olivia’s mother was a little bit more enthusiastic as compared to Vincent. So, with a bright smile on her face, she greeted Henry and his group.
"Our house is capable of accommodating all of you. So, come in." After the introductions, Beatrice, Olivia’s mother stated with a smile on her face.
Henry and the others decided to follow. In any case, it was not as if they had anywhere that they were going to stay considering that they had just arrived in this territory.
Diana and Julie went ahead and carried the unconscious Sarah out of the vehicle. And when Beatrice saw her in that state, she could not help but be shocked. Of course she was not informed in advance about the condition that Sarah was currently in.
"What happened to her?" She asked as she approached Sarah. Since Sarah was more approachable, during the time that she was interacting with Olivia, she already knew about Olivia’s parents. And of course, Beatrice had developed some kind of liking towards this sweet girl.
"She was attacked. She has been in a coma for about 2 months right now. But she will be able to wake up as long as we get something that is capable of helping her with that." Olivia stated. At the same time, from the corners of her eyes, she looked at Henry considering that he was the only person that was capable of doing that.
"Who attacked her? Who is capable of making her to be in this condition?" Beatrice asked once again as she looked at Sarah’s pale face that was currently having hints of black veins.
"Can we talk inside please? This is definitely not a good place to have a conversation like this, right?" At this moment, Vincent who had been silent this entire time finally spoke up.
"Oh, right. Take her to a room to make sure that she rests." Beatrice stated hurriedly.
Diana and Julie followed behind Olivia and Beatrice into the mansion. Of course just one of them was capable of carrying Sarah, but still, to make sure that Sarah was comfortable as she could be, they had been carrying her on a stretcher.
Henry was just about to follow when suddenly, Vincent stood in front of him. Then, he looked at him and said, "Do you mind if we have a talk?"
Henry simply shrugged his shoulder and nodded his head. In any case, he could already tell what it was that Vincent wanted to ask him about.
So, while the ladies accompanied Beatrice into the mansion, Vincent was accompanied by Henry and Adam as they headed in another direction.
As for Storm and Lenta, Henry instructed the two of them to remain in the courtyard of the mansion. In any case, it was not as if there was anywhere that they were going to stay.
Additionally, in case there was anything that went wrong, he could still summon them to his side at any moment. So, he was not worried that much considering that in case there was anybody that was having any plans against him, Lenta and Storm could inform him through the telepathic connection that they possessed.
Vincent led them to a room that was within the mansion, but it was located in the furthest end of the building. When they entered this place, Henry and Adam could see that this was definitely a study room.
There was a simple desk and a chair behind it, with a shelf that possessed several books are the furthest end. Opposite the desk, there was a maroon couch that was capable of accommodating three people.
The room itself was not that much big considering that it only possessed the dimensions of about 5 by 6 meters.
"Please take a seat." Vincent stated as he pointed towards the couch. As for himself, he went ahead and sat on the chair that was behind the desk.
Henry and Adam were not polite at all, and just went ahead and sat on the couch. With that, they faced Vincent, waiting for him to speak up.
"I’m pretty sure that the two of you are smart enough to know the reason why I asked to talk to you. So even if you know, I’ll just have to say it." Vincent began.
"According to the information that Olivia has given me, she was actually taken to a certain island that possessed a facility that was kept as a secret. There, she was forced to work alongside other people.
And when the apocalypse came, the group which possessed four of you, managed to come out of that island, and entered into Crystal City. And from Crystal city, you came straight to this place." Vincent stated as he stared directly into Henry’s eyes.
When Henry heard that, he did not have any change in his expression at all. But still, within, he could not help but see that Olivia was kind of loyal. She had not told her father that they had actually managed to conquer the entire Crystal city, turning it into his territory.
Since that was the case, Henry decided to play along. He was not sure about how Vincent was going to react to an ambitious person like him. At the end of the day, he was a soldier, and he was one of the people that would definitely try to make sure that the previous government was maintained, right?
"But you know, I don’t really believe the information that she gave me. The distance from Lockwood city to Crystal city is so big. And with the dangers that lie in between, it will definitely take a lot of effort to be able to arrive here alive. So, why don’t you give me the true story?" Vincent asked with a serious expression on his face.
