Chapter 271: Vincent, Probing
After a while, Olivia finally came back with her father. The two of them seemed to have finally calmed down, even Olivia was no longer showing the emotions that were there before.
But still, there was one of them that remained, and that was calmness together with excitement. There was also relief that could be noticed as the two of them were combined together.
The pressure that she had been having all this while, about if her family was safe or not, was finally taken off her chest. At least now, she could relax a little bit, doing everything with a lot more ease as compared to before.
After Olivia came back with her father, Olivia’s father approached Henry’s group. After that, headed straight for Henry and stretched his hand.
Henry stood up and grabbed his hand as a form of greeting. Since this was Olivia’s father, he had to show some respects to her.
"Nice to meet you Henry I assume. Olivia has told me about you, and I really would like to thank you for all that you have done for my daughter. I am Vincent Smith." Vincent, Olivia’s father stated with a little smile on his face.
At the same time as he was introducing himself, he was scrutinizing Henry closely. Olivia had informed him about this group of people that had come over, and although she had not given him the details, from just the little information that he had received, he realized that this group was kind of special.
His brows could not help but raise a little when he realized that he could not see information about Henry. Of course this was not the first one because he had not seen any information about Olivia when he tried to look at the information about her.
When he asked her about that, she said that she didn’t know that. It was not as if she possessed any item that they were using to hide the information, but it was just something that happened and she didn’t know why.
Nevertheless, Vincent got curious about this group. At the same time, he appreciated it considering that it was this group that had enabled Olivia to be able to reach this place.
"That’s true. My name is Henry. There’s no need for you to be so polite. We were doing what we can to survive." Henry responded in a calm voice that even surprised Vincent.
In a normal situation, if a person met up with a person like him, who was holding a very high position within the territory, they would be slightly nervous, especially since Henry was a young man.
But right now, Henry looked completely composed. And when he noticed this, Vincent nodded in his mind in appreciation. It seems that just as Olivia had said, this young man was definitely someone who possessed some leadership qualities.
After greeting Henry, Vincent went ahead and shook hands with the rest of the group. But of course, inside this room, both Lenta and Storm were not present. The two of them had stayed out of the room, as they were separated from the group.
Vincent looked at Diana. This was not the first time that he had seen a member of another race being part of a group of humans. At the end of the day, there were several summoners in the territory as well.
But nevertheless, he found out that Diana stood out as compared to any elf that he had seen before. It was not that the appearance was that much different considering that all elves looked beautiful, but the vibe that Diana was giving was quite much more royal as compared to the others.
"Okay. Now that the introductions are out of the way, should we discuss about what you are going to do here?" Vincent asked after the group got to know each other.
Henry did not say anything. At this point, it was not as if he wanted to stay here. If he really could do it, he could have already left this place long ago. At the end of the day, it was not as if his family was located in this place, but instead they were located in the city not far from this one.
"Father, I already told you that they brought me here. They wanted to help me and Sarah to find our families first. After that, they would go ahead and look for their own." Olivia stated with a frown on her face.
"I’m sorry if that came out wrong. What I was trying to imply was that, what are you going to do after you find your families? Are you going to stay in the city that you are going to, or are you going to be in here?" Vincent stated, correcting himself this time.
"I’m not really sure about that. But the first thing that I’ll have to do is to find my family first. After that, I can decide on what I’ll do next." Henry responded. Although he was aiming for the very top, that did not mean that he was going to tell others that he had just met with.
It might be true that Vincent was Olivia’s father, but he belonged to another territory. He didn’t know what goals this person was having, so it was better to avoid talking about something that he was planning in front of him until he knew his intentions.
"Fair enough." Vincent responded with a nod. Of course he could tell that Henry was not willing to talk about his own goals. But nevertheless, he did not care much about it considering that he himself did not have much aims that he wanted to achieve in this situation.
The group discussed a little bit more before finally, Vincent focused on Sarah’s issue. He looked at Olivia and asked, "What is wrong with Sarah?"
Due to the fact that Sarah and Olivia had been interacting previously, Vincent had already met with Sarah before, so he was quite familiar with her. And since she was his daughter’s friend, he had developed a good impression of her, and he was definitely not willing to have her suffer.
"She was injured during a fight by a person who was using the dark element. She herself possesses the light element, which is the complete opposite of the dark element.
That attack is the one that made her go into a coma. But she will be able to get up as long as we get five gold rank level 1 mutation crystals." Olivia responded, her voice tinged with melancholy.
"What did you just say? What is required for her to be able to wake up?" Vincent asked, his eyes widening in surprise.
"I just said that we need five level 1 gold rank mutation crystals." Olivia repeated herself.
"Seriously? Are you sure that you are not mistaking anything? The gold rank, and not one of them, but five of them? Isn’t that too much?" Vincent lost his composure a little, as he asked.
Currently, it was quite difficult to be able to find a gold rank apocalyptic creature. So, for Olivia to say that they needed five gold rank mutation crystals, although they were just at the first level, but that was just too much for the current stage of the apocalypse.
"That’s what we need. I don’t know what really affected her that much, but what I know is that the dark element does not suit the light element. So, if the dark element attacked another person with another element, I’m pretty sure that the effect would not be the same as it has been on Sarah." Olivia pursed her lips as she responded.
After taking a deep breath, Vincent decided not to talk about the matter right now. So, he just decided to focus on another thing. "So about the state that she is currently in, it is not infectious or anything, right?"
"Of course not. We have been together with her for the past 2 months, but nothing like that happened. Aren’t we just okay right now?" Olivia asked with raised brows. She was wondering what was wrong with her father considering that he was a smart person, and something like this was definitely something that he should have already noticed.
Vincent felt a little bit embarrassed. He had actually lost his composure a little bit, and that was why he had just asked the question that had come into his mind.
"Ahem! Okay then. Let us go into the territory. I’ll make the arrangements for your friends on where they are going to stay for the time being. You need to relax a little bit before you can decide on where to go." Vincent stated with a slight cough.
"Dad, what about Sarah’s family? Are they okay?" Olivia asked. Since Sarah was currently in an unconscious state, she had to take care of her family during this time.
Vincent sighed after hearing the question. After that, he looked at Olivia and said, "Let us talk about that after we get home, should we?"
Olivia could see that Vincent was trying to avoid the topic. Although she was curious about what had happened for him to do that, she decided to go along. At the end of the day, they had been traveling for a very long time, and they had not settled during the past one and a half months.
"Okay. Let us go right now." Olivia stated. She was quite impatient to know what had happened to Sarah’s family. From Vincent’s expression, she could tell that there was definitely something that had gone wrong somewhere. So, Olivia hoped that it was not that bad.
