Chapter 267: Lockwood City

It had already been two and a half months ever since the descent of the apocalypse, and over one month ever since the second stage of the apocalypse began.

Several changes had occurred in the world, with several cities already getting destroyed, while others being constructed. The power scale was shifting every moment as the fights progressed.

Everyday, the number of deaths could be counted in thousands. At the same time, the appearance of the members of the other races always increased, especially so for the monster race. The number of monsters always increased no matter how many times they were killed, there would always be another monster that would come forth and replace the one that they had killed.

As for the zombies, their number was the one that was having the biggest change. Not only when it came to the increase considering that every day, several humans would be bitten by zombies, turning them into zombies as well.

But at the same time, the low level zombies were always eliminated in every city. The humans who had already begun gaining a stable foothold had already begun retaliating. And for that reason, the number of zombies also began reducing.

But of course, the humans were still the ones that were having a disadvantaged. But nevertheless, the disadvantage that they were having right now had drastically reduced as compared to during the first moments of the apocalypse.

Although the population of the human race had reduced drastically, but those that were still surviving were still trying to survive. And of course, there was no lack of people that thought of controlling the entire world.

Although it was a difficult dream, it was a dream nonetheless. And at the same time, there was always a chance that they could actually manage to do so. This was at the end of the day a battle for domination. Since that was the case, any race had a chance of winning.

Although the human race possessed the lowest probability at the moment, but the chance was still present. So, those that wanted to dream went ahead and dreamed, while at the same time, they tried to reach their goals.

But of course, there was no way that they would be able to reach their goals just by taking care of the members of the other races. But instead, civil war was something that could not be avoided.

Since there were a lot of people that wanted to reach the superior positions, while those that were holding superior positions before the descent of the apocalypse wanted to maintain the high positions that they were holding before, internal fights erupted.

For that reason, the humans were not capable of gaining any advantage over any race. At the end of the day, while they were fighting against other races, they were fighting against each other as well.

Several humans had also gone ahead and joined other races, thinking that the other races were the ones that were holding the greatest advantage, with the greatest possibility of winning this battle of domination.

But all in all, the humans still possessed a great disadvantage in this situation. And right now, those few that had managed to reach higher power levels were trying to get even stronger.

And of course, there was no lack of people that possessed great ideas. Due to that reason, instead of focusing on just trying to control a small city, they had decided to get stronger first. And after they possessed greater power that others could not resist, it would definitely be easier for them to be able to take over other cities.

They were actually thinking that while the others tried to unify the city, it was as if they were helping them. At the end of the day, if they took over a city that was already being controlled by humans, it would be easier for them to be able to manage it, rather than just taking over a city from the zombies.

The city had already begun getting reconstructed. But of course, only some parts of the city had begun the reconstruction project, while the others remained the same, completely ruined.

The main focus was of course the outskirts of the city. This was definitely the part of the city that did not possess the high number of zombies.

Practically, the outskirts of the city possessed a certain number of population. But nevertheless, the number of zombies that could be found in these parts of the city was quite low.

But whenever a zombie was found in these parts of the city, they would be eliminated by the power hungry people. Currently, many people had already realized that for them to be able to grow stronger, they had to kill more members of other races.

For that reason, they had gone to the extent of starting to do the hunting. There were even some of them that went on suicide missions, going straight to the center of the city, just to get the targets which were zombies.

It was a good thing that Lockwood City was not located closer to a forest. Due to that reason, the number of monsters that could be found around this area was limited. So, the remaining target was obviously the zombies

As for the other races, there was actually no any other race that had appeared within the surroundings of Lockwood City. This was an advantage that the citizens of Lockwood City possessed. Although it was an advantage, it was still a disadvantage considering that the speed at which they were able to increase their strength was also limited.

At this moment, in one of the streets, there was nobody walking here. The streets were practically empty, and the silence in the air was deafening.

Zombies could be seen, but currently, the majority of them were idle, standing in the same position without making any movement. It was as if they were robots that had been switched off.

Vroom!

Suddenly, the sound of an engine approaching could be heard in the street. And not long after, a red Jeep appeared at the furthest end of the street.

The sound of the engine immediately attracted the zombies in the surrounding area. These zombies were idle previously, but the moment that they heard the sound, they did not hesitate to begin rushing towards the source of the sound.

Graaah!

The zombies roared inhumanely as they rushed towards the red Jeep. They brandished their long nails while jumping towards the Jeep that was finally approaching them.

But the Jeep on the other hand did not slow down. Instead, it actually increased its speed.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The zombies that stood in front of the Jeep were rammed into by the Jeep. The moment that the Jeep collided with them, all the zombies were actually blasted into a bloody mist.

As for those that were trying to chase from the side, the moment that they touched the Jeep, something like a shockwave suddenly erupted from the Jeep, easily killing them by cutting them into pieces.

The Jeep continued moving, as the number of zombies that was chasing after it increased. But nevertheless, the Jeep did not stop. In situations where the road was blocked, the vehicle actually went ahead and knocked away the cars and the blockheads that were on its path.

Finally after about 10 minutes, the Jeep finally arrived in front of a gate. This gate was made out of special metal, one that was only found after the second stage of the apocalypse, during the past half a month after several other materials began appearing in this world.

Other than this gate, there was a perimeter wall that was surrounding a place. The perimeter wall was several meters tall, something that made it impossible for the zombies to be able to jump over it.

There were people that were keeping guard of this place. They were standing in high areas of the wall, watching everything that was going on outside. And the moment that they realized that the Jeep was approaching, they took out their weapons, and looked at the Jeep with vigilance.

Other than the normal weapons such as swords, daggers, arrows and bows, there was a small group of people that possessed guns as well. But of course, these were not the low-level guns, but they were the ones that used high caliber bullets.

"Stop right there or we will shoot!" At this moment, one of the people that was present on top of the wall shouted loudly towards the direction of the Jeep.

He was a young man with black hair that was reaching his shoulder. He was currently wearing a casual black T-shirt, with a pair of gray pants, together with military boots.

On his back, he was carrying a sword. He was the only person amongst the entire group of people present here that had not taken out his weapon. And from the way that he was being looked at by the other people, it was clear that he was the leader here.

To say the truth, he was a little surprised by the appearance of this vehicle. But nevertheless, several changes had already occurred, so it was not strange to be able to see a vehicle that was in a weird shape, not to mention one that was modified to the shape of a sports car with the tires of off-road vehicles.

He was not the only one who had been surprised. All the others were also surprised, and they could not help but wonder who it was that was inside the Jeep.

After the man shouted, everyone on the wall, especially those that were capable of attacking from a long distance, both looked at the Jeep, ready to attack.

As for the Jeep, it did not show any signs of stopping at all. Although it was not moving at an incredible speed, nevertheless, if a normal person was hit by the Jeep moving at that speed, they would definitely be injured fatally.

Tension suddenly rose as the group observed as the Jeep approached the gate. At this point, they were already ready to attack.

The young man in the lead was just about to give an order for them to attack when suddenly, the Jeep finally stopped. And of course, this young man was displeased by the fact that the ones that were driving the Jeep did not hear what he had said the first time. From their actions, it was clear that they were testing out their patience.

"Step out of the vehicle and identify yourselves." Since the Jeep had already stopped, the young man shouted once again.
