Chapter 262: Worried for a Teammate

"Although it is going to be dangerous, I want to try it out. I’m not ready to be trapped here. If it is true that I’m going to die, then I’ll die trying to get out of here, rather than just die while standing here, doing nothing." Olivia stated as she approached the area where the cracks were forming in space.

She had not gone far when suddenly, she felt someone grabbing her shoulder. Out of reflex, she turned around and prepared to attack. But she was forced to stop when she realized who it was that was holding her shoulder.

"It is too dangerous for you to approach that place. We don’t know what is happening in that place, but it’s definitely not something good. So, it is better for us to look for another method first, before finally resorting to something like this." Adam stated as he looked at Olivia seriously.

Olivia looked at Adam with raised brows. To say the truth, she had not expected that Adam was actually going to say something like that to her. From the expression on his face, although he was trying to hide it, she could still see that there was worry in his eyes.

Olivia was not the only one who was surprised by Adam’s actions. Henry was just about to go ahead and stop her when Adam beat him to it. That was completely unexpected considering the relationship between the two of them.

During normal times, the two of them would go ahead and argue with each other about whatever small detail it was. So, it was quite surprising that Adam who really didn’t like Olivia was actually here, worrying about her safety.

When Adam realized the look that Olivia was giving him, he could not help but let go of her shoulder. After that, he cleared his throat and said, "What are you looking at? I’m only worried about you because you are a member of our team. Or do you perhaps think that there is another reason?"

Olivia could only snort after hearing what Adam had said. After that, she turned around and looked towards the direction where the small circle had already become the size of a basketball. It was clear that this thing was going to expand, and this was not the final stage of the expansion.

They were not sure about the reason why this small black circle had actually appeared, but nevertheless, they knew that it was not a good thing considering the amount of killing intent that was pouring out of that circle.

Additionally, they could feel that as the size of the circle continuously increased, the killing intent was actually being directed towards them slowly. It was clear to them that there had to be a creature or a person inside that small black circle, that was intending to kill them.

Olivia wanted to ignore Adam and go ahead. Of course, she understood that by going there, she was risking a lot. But what other choice did they have right now? They could not just continue staying in here and wait for their deaths, right?

But she had just taken a few steps when suddenly, Henry spoke up. "This is way more dangerous. I can understand what plans you have. But we don’t know about how stable that place is. We don’t know if you approach that place, you are going to be pulled in or not. So, I think that it is better for us to look for another solution."

Olivia hesitated for a moment after hearing what Henry had said. At the end of the day, although it was true that she wanted to get out of here, she also knew that Henry and Adam also wanted to get out of here.

At the end of the day, just like them, they had their own families out of this place. And ever since the apocalypse descended, they did not have a chance of meeting them. So, they would definitely not give up on something like that.

But right now, she really didn’t have any other choice. At the end of the day, it was not just her family that she was going to look after, but there was Sarah as well. She had to make sure that Sarah was okay, although she currently knew that she was being protected by Storm.

"Trust me on this." Olivia stated while turning around to face Henry.

Looking at the determination that was inside Olivia’s eyes, Henry understood that Olivia had already made a decision. Still, he could not help but hesitate for a moment.

At the end of the day, at this point, he was practically trying to sacrifice a member of his own team. As the leader of the group, he was supposed to be the one looking for a method out here.

But to say the truth, he did not have any method that he was going to be using to get out of here. And, it was Olivia who possessed the teleportation skill, the only skill that was capable of allowing her to get out of this place.

"Do you have any free skill slots left?" Henry asked after a moment of silence.

"I only have one of them left." Olivia responded. All along, although she was given several skills by Henry, she did not learn all of them. Instead, she decided to leave one skill slot free just in case there was a good skill that she was going to gain in the future.

She didn’t want to gain a good skill that was going to be pivotal during that time, and not being capable of learning it because of the lack of skill slots.

And right now, she could not understand why Henry was asking about the skill slots. At the end of the day, it was not as if there was a skill that was capable of helping in this situation right now other than the one that she possessed, right?

Not saying anything, Henry went ahead and took a skill scroll out of the idle space. Of course, with so many mutation crystals that they had gotten during the past few days, he had always been purchasing resources from the system store.

And currently, the idle space was stocked with a lot of things. But of course, the majority of them were small in size. At the end of the day, the space that was present within the Idle space that he had purchased from the system was not infinite.

Nevertheless, the majority of the things that were present inside were actually several skill scrolls, potions, and a few equipments.

A little bit confused, Olivia grabbed the skill scroll that has been given to her by Henry. She looked at it and she could not help but be a little bit surprised after reading the information about the skill scroll.

Of course, this was the skill scroll that granted a person immunity for two seconds. Although two seconds were not that much, but they were enough to be able to save a life of a person.

Just as Olivia was done learning the skill, Henry suddenly threw something to her. Out of instinct, she grabbed it. She looked at it and found out that it was just like the pendant that she was wearing around her neck.

"In case of an emergency, use that one." Henry stated. Immediately after that, he turned around and headed towards the direction of the altar again. At this point, although the altar was not doing anything, Henry felt that there had to be something with this altar.

Olivia’s heart would not help but beat rapidly after reading the information about the pendant that she had been given by Henry. This was the first time that she was seeing information about it. Of course, she had already seen it previously before Henry kept it away.

And looking at this life saving treasure, she could not help but feel touched. After all, Henry had trusted her and handed her a treasure like this, something that was no different from a second life.

At the same time, looking at the cooldown of this pendant, she could see that it was actually only capable of being used once in a month. That meant that if she used it, then Henry was not going to be capable of using this pendant again unless a month had already gone by.

Looking at the nonchalant back of Henry as he headed towards the altar, Olivia felt that she had made the right decision to follow this guy. Not only was he strong, but he was also caring of his teammates.

Since she had been given something, Olivia was determined to make sure that she managed to get them out of here. After all, they still had goals that they needed to fulfill.

Adam was watching everything from the side. He could not help but squint his eyes when he realized that Henry had gone ahead and handed two items to Olivia.

The first one, it was a skill scroll. That was normal. At the end of the day, all of them had actually received skills scrolls from Henry. But for the second one, it was a pendant, the one that they had gotten during that night, during the fight against the monsters.

’Could there be anything going on between the two of them? If it is, I have to make sure that it doesn’t go beyond the limit of friends. Otherwise, if Olivia manages to steal Henry away, who is my sister going to marry?’ Adam could not help but think to himself.

After a while, he decided not to think much about the matter. Instead, he went ahead and approached the place where the space was cracking. He had to make sure that he could do what was required in case there was a time that Olivia was in danger.

"I’m acting right now." Olivia stated. And in the next moment, she rushed forward while activating the energy inside her body.
