Chapter 218: Second Round

"What the heck is that thing?" Adam who had just arrived in the battlefield where Olivia was fighting against Smith could not help but ask as he looked at the black ice.

It was not much of a difficult problem for him and Sarah to be able to completely eliminate all the members of the dark race that had come over. Amongst all that they had been fighting against, there was only a single one of them that had reached level 9 of the bronze rank.

But even so, when it came to combat strength, that person could not compete against any of the two of them, not to mention the two of them combined. So, it did not take that much time for Adam and Sarah to be able to completely eliminate all the members of the dark race that had come over.

And with their elimination, the skeleton warriors that were continuously attacking the city, although at a great disadvantage, had already turned into a pile of bones. And with that, those that were fighting against them could finally relax.

After dealing with the mob, Adam and Sarah decided to join Olivia. They had realized that the battle between her and the Silver Rank member of the dark race called Smith had not yet ended.

Although they had not tested the ability of a silver rank awakener, but still, they believed that it was going to be a little difficult to deal with them. After all, it was not just a level difference, but, there was a chasm that separated those that were in different ranks.

It was the same when it came to those that were still in rank O, they could not fight against a bronze rank awakener. That was unless they possessed a big advantage like possessing an S grade or above profession.

"I don’t really know what is happening inside that thing. But, I think that there is something that is going to happen, it doesn’t look like it is going to be good at all." Olivia responded.

She had already tried several times to attack, but, all the attacks that she was launching were futile. Even the ice that she had launched using the blizzard, it had only frozen the mist that was surrounding Smith, but, other than that, there was nothing else that was done.

Right now, they could only wait until Smith managed to get out of the black ice crystal that was surrounding him. After that, they had to fight him to ensure that they dealt with him as soon as possible.

The wait went on for about 5 minutes. And finally, changes begun happening. Out of nowhere, a terrifying presence descended. The level of this presence was definitely so high, that even Olivia and the group felt their bodies shaking.

But, all of this was just momentarily as the presence disappeared just a few seconds after it had appeared. However, although the presence had already disappeared, it had already left an impact on Olivia’s and the group’s minds.

They immediately knew that if they were actually going to fight against that presence, then they would be eliminated without any chance of resisting.

Crack!

Just as the group was still wondering what the source of the presence was, the sound of something cracking immediately attracted their attention. And when they looked over, they realized that the black ice that was surrounding Smith was suddenly cracking.

Bang!

Cobweb patterns began spreading across the entire structure, and in the next moment it broke with a bang.

The cold energy that was present within the ice that was launched by Olivia was still present. So, although the ice had already turned from blue to black, the ice energy was still present.

So, the moment that the black ice structure broke into pieces, the temperatures in the surrounding areas suddenly plummeted.

But, there was something that Olivia noticed that was strange. That was the fact that, even she herself felt a little affected by the cold energy. That implied that, this cold energy that was affecting her was not hers at all.

The area where the ice had broken was currently surrounded by the black mist. And, the black mist began dissipating bit by bit, before finally revealing Smith’s figure.

He was not wearing a shirt, and he was bare-chested. His slightly slim stature had suddenly become toned. The gray skin was somehow bright in the night, even under the illumination of the light orbs that were floating in the air.

Looking at the eyes, Smith’s eyes had already become lifeless. The red eyes that he possess previously had already turned and become pitch black. If one looked deeply into them, they would think that they were falling inside an abyss.

At this moment, Olivia realized that the presence that Smith was revealing was actually slightly different from the previous one that she was facing against. That implied that, there were a lot of changes that happened during this short period of time.

Then, there was yet another thing that she noticed. That was the fact that, the staff that Smith was wielding was wooden, but right now, it had turned completely pitch black. She doubted that she would have seen it had it not been for the light that was being illuminated in the surroundings by Sarah’s light orbs.

Smith’s black eyes finally focused on Olivia, Sarah, and Adam. Then, without even saying anything, he stomped onto the ground and launched forward.

The ground where he had stomped on immediately cracked and dented inwards. This implied that the strength that was possessed in that stomp was not weak.

One had to know that, after the second stage of the apocalypse arrived, there was a change that had appeared on the structure of the entire world. For that reason, the level of damage that could be dealt on the earth had reduced.

If previously, an attack from a level 1 bronze rank mutant warrior was capable of making a deep crater onto the ground, right now, it was only capable of making a shallow dent on the ground.

"Hah! It seems that you want to fight physically? Then let me test out how strong you are." Adam took a step forward as he stated.

In the next moment, he took the double edged battle axe that he was carrying on his back, before charging forward. Without any hesitation, he swung the battle ax forward, ready to collide head on with Smith.

Olivia wanted to say something, but, since Adam had already acted, there was no need for her to delay anymore. So, since Adam was going to attack at close combat, then, she and Sarah were going to attack from a long range to provide him cover.

Bang!

The two sides collided with each other. The moment that the two sides collided, a shockwave was produced, causing dust to rise in the surrounding area.

The moment that Adam collided with Smith, he could not help but be a little surprised. That was due to the fact that, he did not actually gain any advantage against Smith.

His body was currently very strong considering that, after receiving something from the dungeon, currently, his body was actually possessing physical raw strength of a level 9 bronze rank mutant warrior.

Still, Adam was a fighter, and he was not going to hesitate just because of something unexpected happening. So, he retreated a few steps backwards, before charging forward.

This time, he activated spiritual chop skill. This skill was capable of increasing his damage by two times.

Smith also attacked. This time, the black staff that he was holding also lit up a little bit. And as it was swung forward, the sound of the air being torn apart could be heard.

Bang!

The two weapons collided once again. And, this time, both of them were forced to retreat a few steps backwards.

Adam could not help but look at Smith with surprise clear in his eyes. Not to mention the fact that he had actually used his skill to attack, but, even that staff that Smith was wielding was actually not affected in the slightest after colliding twice with his battle axe.

Adam was just about to move forward when suddenly, he felt that his surroundings had suddenly had a drop in the temperature level. It was only now that he was reminded that in this fight, he was not alone.

An ice spear suddenly flew past him towards Smith. Accompanying it was a sword that was made out of light that suddenly appeared above Smith.

Smith who was just about to go ahead and attack Adam once again was forced to stop momentarily. Using the staff, he attacked the ice spear that was heading his way.

Bang!

As the two of them collided, Smith was forced to retreat a few steps backwards. As for the spear, it was actually shattered, but, not at the same level as the time that it was shattered by the barrier that was surrounding Smith.

Just after Smith had retreated, the sword that was in the air swung downwards. It was descending at an incredible speed as if it wanted to tear apart everything in its path.

Smith had just blocked Olivia’s attack, so, he was not capable of reacting fast enough in order to block the sword. But still, light lit up on his body, and several patterns surrounded his body.

Bang!

The sword landed on Smith’s body, directly on the chest. But surprisingly, the patterns that had already lit up on his body intensified in light. Then, the attack was neutralized.

But nevertheless, Smith did not get out unscathed. Instead, there was actually a small wound that was opened on his chest, with some purple blood leaking out.
