Chapter 201: Effects of the Red Mist

At the same time as this was happening, changes finally began appearing in the outside world. The red mist that had been covering the sky suddenly began moving once again.

With even greater intensity, it suddenly began falling. And, instead of disappearing just like how it did before, this time, it enveloped the entire world, blocking the vision of every creature within it.

At the same time, the red mist finally began penetrating the bodies of everybody that had not yet awakened. It might be true that it was already penetrating their bodies previously, but still, by now, the intensity at which it was penetrating their bodies had completely increased.

The moment that this change happened, the entire world shook. Nobody had expected that something like this was going to happen. Although they had already seen a lot of things happening in the apocalypse, they could not understand the changes that were going to be brought about by what was happening right now.

As for those people that were having their bodies penetrated with the red mist, they felt somehow suffocated. At the same time, they felt restless, as if there was something that was stirring trouble inside their bodies.

Other than this, the red mist also penetrated the earth. The vegetation on the ground suddenly began growing faster and bigger. It was as if they had suddenly been injected with nutrients that sped up their growth.

In just a short moment, even a desert was suddenly turned into a forest. Although it was true that the vegetation present in the desert had not changed, and it was basically the vegetation that could be found within the desert, but still, the way that they were growing, it did not look like a desert at all.

The roads suddenly began being destroyed further, with trees suddenly emerging out of the ground. At the same time, buildings began collapsing in different cities as trees and the forest encroached the cities.

In the forests, the monsters also began getting restless. At the same time, they began losing their minds, and began fighting whatever creature they saw in front of them. And, due to the mutation that had happened to the forest, the monsters were suddenly forced to charge out of it.

And of course, since they could no longer stay within the forests, then, the only destination that they could head to would definitely be the cities. And for that reason, the human race that was currently trying to understand what was going on was suddenly attacked.

And due to the limited vision, they had no choice but to depend on their own senses, which were not that much sharp. As for the monsters on the other hand, they depended on the sense of smell and hearing to deal with the humans. And currently, since they had already lost their minds, they did not care if it was a human or a zombie that they tore apart.

Surprisingly, even the zombies themselves seemed to be affected by some kind of adrenaline medicine. Currently, they were moving around in the city recklessly. Moreover, their speed had drastically increased to a level that was way beyond whatever was seen during the past few days.

Additionally, their strength had also been increased. And in no time, the cities were suddenly dominated by zombies and monsters that were fighting for domination against each other.

Chaos ensued, and the already destroyed cities became even more devastated. The amount of destruction that was dealt would have definitely caused several billionaires to shed tears of blood. After all, skyscrapers were collapsing one after another.

As this went on, the death count of the human race continued rising. Although the monsters and the zombies were also reducing in number, but still, as compared to the human race whose population had already reduced to the lowest level, the death of the zombies and the monsters could not be mentioned.

At this point, several survivor camps were attacked out of nowhere. The majority of the camps and the bases were located at the outskirts of the cities. And for that reason, they were able to fend off the zombies that wandered over.

But now, since they were close to the edge of the city, as long as there was a forest nearby, then, they were going to be attacked by monsters that were endlessly coming out of the forests.

Additionally, for some strange reason, it was as if the zombies were being attracted by the presence of the humans. So, they also began charging out of the city, heading towards the survivor camps that were located in the outskirts of the city.

In no time at all, the number of camps and bases that were existing on the planet had suddenly been reduced by more than half. Although the majority of the camps and the bases that had been created possess several humans with incredible power that were in charge of ensuring the safety of the camps and the bases, but, they were overwhelmed by the attack from the two sides.

And to make matters worse, the humans that died under the zombies suddenly became zombies as well. This went ahead to increase the population of the zombies, increasing the disadvantage that the humans were facing.

As for the dead bodies that had been killed by the monsters, they were invaded by the red mist. And the moment that this happened, they began rising from the ground, becoming zombies as well.

Basically, it was as if everything was favoring the zombies. Not only was their population high, but, even all the humans that died as long as they were not zombies before, they were going to stand again as zombies. The only ones that never got back to their feet were the zombies that had been killed.

It was as if a nightmare for the human race had suddenly descended. Currently, it was way worse as compared to the time that the Apocalypse finally descended.

At least, during the first moment, it was the monsters that attacked first. Then later on, zombies emerged. But now, the human race was being attacked by the two races at the same time.

However, it seemed that it was not just the human race that was facing the calamity. But, the other races that had also descended into this planet were facing the same.

It was just that, their situation was way better as compared to the human race as they possessed several resources that they were using in order to be able to fend off the attacks of the two races.

Just as the human race thought that this was definitely the end of the world, another thing that caused them to completely fall into despair happened.

It was both of curse and a blessing. The large number of humans that had been penetrated by the red mist suddenly began experiencing changes in their bodies.

The energy in their body suddenly began going rampant, and in no time, many people lost control of their own thoughts. At the same time, they felt that their consciousness was sinking in a deep abyss.

And immediately after they lost their minds, they suddenly became zombies. And, the humans who were already having a lot of trouble defending against the attack of the zombies and the monsters with limited vision were once again attacked from the inside.

This immediately raised the death toll of the humans to a higher degree. This led to several camps and bases to be destroyed, although they had some hope of being able to survive at the end of it.

But, this is not the only thing that had happened. For those people that were able to preserve their consciousness when the energy in their bodies was running rampant, they suddenly gained power.

Out of nowhere, the normal people that had not even become mutant warriors suddenly became bronze rank mutant warriors. This was a sudden boost of strength, something that the majority of them had not expected.

And of course, the majority of the people that had not yet awakened were either weaklings, cowards, or disabled. So, for them to suddenly get strength out of nowhere, and those that were disabled to suddenly be capable of moving around like normal people, as long as they did not have amputated limbs, it was completely unexpected.

But, due to this happening, the majority of the people that had suddenly felt the increase in their strength moved forward. They no longer began hiding, as at this point, they were still relishing in the sudden increase strength, feeling invincible.

For that reason, the human race was suddenly capable of handling the situation a little bit better. But, it was just a little better than before, however, it did not change the fact that currently, the human race was at a great disadvantage.

These changes where people suddenly became stronger than before completely stunned the entire group of people that had already become awakened. After all, they themselves had to go through a lot in order to be able to awaken, but, they had suddenly seen that there was a group of people that became stronger out of nowhere.

But still, although they really wanted to complain, they could not do so at that point because their lives were at risk. So, cooperation between the humans began, trying to make sure that they preserved the lives of the humans. But of course, the selfish nature of the humans would always be revealed in moments like this.

It was only during a moment where danger erupted out of nowhere that suddenly, humans only revealed their selfish sides. In this apocalypse, it was definitely everyone for themselves, unless they had no other choice.
