Chapter 190: Strange Movements

When the zombie realized that the lady was attacking, it also brandished its claws. After a human became a zombie, other than the fact that they possessed infinite stamina, their nails also extended, and became even sharp and stronger.

As the lady was approaching, the zombie did not hesitate to attack. So, the moment that the lady arrived in front of the zombie, in her crazed state, she could not dodge the attack.

A large gush was torn on her belly. Blood began spilling out, together with some of her innards. As for the lady, her momentum did not stop at all. She landed on the zombie, pressing it onto the ground.

In the next moment, she began attacking the zombie crazily. Not only using her teeth, but even using her fingernails and pulling at several parts of the zombie’s body.

It was as if the lady did not feel the pain of getting such a big wound. As for the zombie, it was already dead, with only the brain being the only functioning part of the body with the nervous system working. So, it definitely did not feel any pain.

The captain of the soldiers present and the other soldiers together with the survivors could not believe what they were seeing. A human and a zombie had engaged into a brawl, tearing and biting each other apart.

Although the lady was strong, due to the adrenaline, the zombie on the other hand was also strong. She had not yet awakened, but the zombie had already reached the 5th level of rank O. So, she was easily overpowered.

Other than that, there was also the poison that was being injected continuously into her body by the zombie. So, with the two of them working together, the lady was torn apart easily by the zombie.

As she felt that her life was about to end, tears could not help but stream out of her blood covered face. She finally felt at peace. Although she was not able to take revenge for her son and husband, but at least, she had done something. She had died doing it.

Now, at least, she was going to be reunited together with her husband and son. With that thought, she finally died. But, how was the poison going to allow her to go just like that? In no time at all, she began transforming into a zombie.

The captain on the other hand was infuriated at the fact that the person that they were protecting was actually killed by a zombie. This was considered a failure in his mission, because, he was told to rescue as many survivors as possible.

Without hesitation, he threw out the spear towards the zombie that was now getting back on its feet, ready to begin attacking the other people. It seemed that it was in need of more fresh meat, not caring about the one that it had already taken a bite of.

Pufft!

The moment that the spear head collided with the zombie’s head, the head of the zombie exploded as if it was a melon. Anyway, this was to be expected considering that the captain was currently a bronze rank mutation warrior, while the zombie was only at rank O.

After killing the zombie, the captain immediately recalled for the team. "Tighten the circle. Make sure that no zombie manages to penetrate the circle. We have to ensure the survival of the survivors."

He was not going to talk about the matter of the zombie being capable of penetrating the circle for now. So, the first thing that they had to ensure was to make sure that they got to the highest floor of the building. There, they might be able to escape from the horde of zombies that was approaching them.

As they began moving again, the lady who had already turned into a zombie also stood up. But, the moment that she stood up, her head was sliced off by a soldier who was closer to her, holding a sword.

Currently, there was a problem with electricity. So, they could not use the lift to get to the top floor. Without any choice left, they began using the stairs.

Although it seemed a little tiresome, but at least, inside this building, the number of zombies was low. So, after they got to the stairs, they had an easy time protecting the front and the back. That way, they were able to ensure the safety of the survivors.

After a long 30 minutes, the group finally managed to reach the top floor. They made sure to form a blockade behind the door, to ensure that if the zombies managed to reach this top floor, they will not be able to enter here easily.

The captain moved towards the floor to ceiling window, and looked outside of the building. He could see that currently, the entire building was surrounded by a large group of zombies. And, the strange thing was that, the zombies did not seem to be making any movements or any attempts in order to enter the building.

This made the captain’s face twitch. If it was true that the zombies did not know that they were inside, then, they should have already left. But now, the zombies were forming a very large group, surrounding the entire building.

The zombies did not do anything, standing there idly as they looked at the building. It was as if they were waiting for an order or something.

The captain decided to set the matter aside for now. He was not sure about the reason why the zombies had decided to charge over, and they seemed to be targeting their group. So, he had to deal with internal problems first.

With a stern expression on his face, he looked at the soldier who had claimed that they were supposed to leave the survivors behind. "Do you have an explanation about the reason why the zombie was able to get past you?"

The captain was dealing with a large number of zombies, and all of them were at a high level. But still, he was able to react first, and from the direction that the zombie was charging from, it was from the direction that this soldier was in charge of.

So, it was obvious that he was the one who had allowed for the zombie to be able to reach the survivors. After all, he himself was currently at level 8 of rank O. How was it possible that he was capable of allowing a small level 5 rank O zombie to be able to get past him?

He was a soldier at the end of the day. Soldiers did not allow mistakes during a mission period and currently, they were on a mission, but a silly mistake had already been made, ending up with the loss of a life of a person that they were protecting.

"That Zombie seemed to be having some intelligence, and it managed to sneak past me. At that time, I was dealing with another zombie, so, I had no choice. There was no way that I was going to be capable of charging back to the group when I was being held back." The soldier replied.

What he had said was the truth. It was just that, he had lied when it came to the part of being able to retreat. That was something that he was capable of doing, but, he did not bother doing so.

The captain also realized that this guy was not going to say the truth. But still, currently, they had to look for a way that they were going to get out of here. They could not communicate with the base to inform them to bring over a helicopter to take them.

Additionally, they did not have the capability of flying. All that they could hope was that, the zombies that were already gathered below the building would eventually go away. And even if they decided not to do that, it was going to be better if they did not enter the building.

"You will have a case to answer after we get back to the base. As for now, make sure that you keep an eye on everything. The mistake should not be repeated. Do you get that?!" The captain stated once again.

"Yes sir!" The soldier replied. Although he was not satisfied with the decision that the captain had made, he was still his captain at the end of the day. There was no way that he was going to be capable of disobeying the orders. Additionally, it was not as if he was stronger than the captain anyway.

While the group was still waiting for the zombies to disperse, they suddenly noticed that there was yet another movement within the zombies. It was as if they were parting ways, trying to allow someone to approach.

The captain’s eyes narrowed as he looked below the building. It was just that, he could not see clearly due to the distance. But still, he saw that there was a figure that was approaching the building slowly and steadily.

As for the zombies, they only made the way for that figure to pass, but, they did not seem to be attacking him. As for their movement, it was as if it was a subconscious action, something that was natural to them.

Not long after, the figure finally arrived below the building. Then, it raised its head and looked up. The captain and the group could see that the figure was that of a human. As for whether it was a zombie or a human, they did not know due to the distance.

Suddenly, that figure bent down. And in the next moment, it shot up for over 3 m. Then, it managed to enter the building through the floor to ceiling glass.
