Chapter 173: Underwater and Defender Crystals

The tsunami cleared every obstacle that was within its path. It did not matter if it was a building, a vehicle, or even a group of people that was found within the path, all of them were cleared out by the wave.

Not long after, the tsunami finally arrived in front of the building. And as expected, it crashed into the building just like it had done with all the other buildings that it had come across along the way.

Booom!

Rather than the building getting destroyed, there was a large collision sound that rang into the air. As for the building itself, it simply shook for a moment, before finally stabilizing.

But still, although it was able to withstand the power of the tsunami, it was still submerged into the water. As for the tsunami itself, it continued moving forward, easily taking the lives of the group that had decided to go away from the building, trying to escape the tsunami.

Although it was true that they had gotten stronger after they became mutant warriors, but, they still could not match the speed at which the tsunami was moving. So, no matter the effort that they put in, they were not able to run away from it.

After being swept away by the water, they tried to swim, going against the wave, but, they were completely helpless. Not only that, inside the water, there were several objects that had already been carried over by the sea water.

After being hit by the objects that were inside the water, either blunt or sharp, their blood spilled into the water, but it did not change the color of the water that had already taken the brown shade of the ground.

The group of people that was swept within the tsunami was killed from drowning and being pummeled by rocks and vehicles that were within the water.

On the other side, inside the building, chaos had already ensued. Currently, the building was shaking from time to time, and although it had already stabilized, but still, it was showing some signs of cracking.

Jake, who had been resting not long ago had already gotten up. He had been woken up by the sound of the tsunami coming their way. And the moment that he woke up, he rushed towards the direction of the window, and saw that there was a huge wave that was approaching them.

He was at first stunned, not expecting that there was going to be a tsunami occurring at a such a moment. And looking at the speed at which it was approaching, it was obvious that even if they wanted to run away from here, they did not have the chance of escaping from the tsunami.

As Jake was thinking about what to do next, he suddenly remembered something. He rushed towards the bedside cabinet, after opening it, he took out an item.

He then went ahead and activated the energy in his body, directing it into the object, activating it. This was an item that he had received during his trip inside the dungeon.

It was a small object that was round in shape, a crystal that was blue in color. The name of the crystal was called the underwater crystal. This was an item that previously, Jake had thought that it was completely useless.

The function of the underwater crystal was simple. It enabled an object as well as the people that were within it to be able to survive within a water body. But, this protection only lasted for 6 hours, with the crystal having a cooldown of two days.

Not long after he had activated the underwater crystal, the tidal wave suddenly arrived. It arrived with a great destructive power, crashing into the building.

Luckily, it was not just the underwater crystal that Jake depended on. Otherwise, having not told anyone about the presence of the underwater crystal, those people that were outside would not have rushed into the building.

For the ones that had left, those were the new members of the mutant warrior association that had been recruited after the trip into the dungeon.

That was yet another item that Jake was lucky to get. And that was yet another crystal, it was called the defender crystal. This was an item that he had chanced upon during the time that he was leveling to the first level of Bronze rank. He had obtained it after killing a mutant zombie.

The function of this defender crystal was that, it possessed the defensive capabilities of a level 8 bronze rank warrior. It was just that, it was an item that could only be used twice. So, once it managed to block two attacks, the crystal was going to crumble.

It was simply because of this that the old members of the mutant warrior association believed that they were going to be protected from the tsunami by that item.

It was the defender crystal that managed to protect the building during the time of the storm. Since they were close to the sea, there were not that many buildings that were present in this area. For that reason, the objects that could be thrown into the air to come over and destroy the building were minimal.

So, although the building underwent some destruction, it was nothing huge. That was the reason why it stood out amongst all the buildings in the surrounding area.

After activating the underwater crystal, Jake focused on the defender crystal. And, after the tsunami hit the building, the defender crystal lit up. It was linked to the entire building, so, the entire building currently possessed the defensive capabilities of a level 8 Bronze rank mutant warrior.

After about 5 seconds, the light that was shining on the defender crystal dimmed down. Immediately after that, the crystal that was brown in color suddenly turned into brown dust on the table that it was placed on.

Jake on the other hand could not help but frown. He knew that currently, their lives were in danger. Since the defender crystal had already been utilized, the only thing that they could depend on was the underwater crystal.

Although he did not know about the effects of the underwater crystal first hand, he just hoped that it was going to be able to hold on, until the water of the tsunami retreated.

But, from the way that the building was beginning to shake violently, it was clear that things were not going to be as simple as he was hoping.

Currently, the entire building had already been enveloped by a blue barrier that prevented the water from getting closer to the building. It was as if the entire building was isolated from the water that was surrounding it.

As for the objects that were within the water, the moment that they touched the barrier, it flickered from time to time. It was as if that blue barrier was capable of blocking the physical attacks, but still, it did not do that completely.

So, although the speed of the items that were launched towards the building by the tsunami had their velocity reduced, they were not prevented from hitting the building.

For that reason, the building was already suffering from several damages, although at a minimal rate. But still, this was able to shake the building violently. The windows in some areas had already been broken, and some of the unlucky people inside the building found themselves being injured.

Jake of course witnessed all of this after he had left his room. He immediately instructed the people that he found along the way to gather the entire group somewhere. Currently, it was kind of risky for them to be away from each other.

At least by cooperating with each other, they would have the capability of blocking a boulder if it was launched towards them by the furious tsunami.

After the group gathered, Jake was informed that five members of the mutant warrior association had already died. They were killed by the objects that were rushing into the building through the barrier.

"All of you, we have to look for somewhere strong. We have to look for a method that we are going to use to stay safe from the attacks by the objects that are inside the water. After the water calms down, we should be able to get out of here." Jake instructed.

The rest of the group immediately nodded. Nobody went against Jake’s orders. It was not only due to the respect that they gave him in relation to the strength that he possessed, but, due to his ability to lead them as well.

Currently, it was risky for them to remain at the top floor, and it was even more risky for them to go to the ground floor. So, they decided on the middle part of the building, waiting there.

And while all of this was going on, Jake realized something. And that was, it was as if the objects inside the water were being launched towards them specifically, rather than randomly.

From what he could deduce, it was that there was something that was attacking them from within the tsunami using the objects.

It was a good thing that the barrier was capable of preventing the water from rushing in. Otherwise, due to the windows that had already been broken, the entire building would have already been flooded.

What Jake did not know was that, what he had thought about was actually right. Inside the tsunami, it did not just carry the boulders and all the other objects along the way, rather, there were other aquatic animals within the water.

But, unlike the fish and the rest of the animals that they had already gotten used to, these aquatic animals had mutated after the descent of the apocalypse.

But, the terror did not come from these aquatic animals. Rather, the danger came from another creature of unknown origin. At this moment, its blood red eyes were looking at the barrier that was blocking the water from destroying the building.
