Chapter 172: A Tsunami

North of Crystal City.

Currently, the waves of the sea were calm, no abnormality could be spotted. But, all of that was just temporarily.

The calm sea suddenly began churning as if it was being stirred by someone. And not long after, a whirlpool was created. Although the whirlpool was not that big, but still, it was able to cause the calm sea to suddenly become turbulent.

The Whirlpool continued expanding from time to time, and not long after, it became a big one, to the extent that it suddenly began extending to the shore of the sea, eating away at the beach.

After a few minutes, the water suddenly began retreating into the sea. And in no time, the size of the beach had already been expanded by a few hundred meters, while the tide of the sea plummeted.

One could see that in the areas where the sea had retreated, some fish could be seen there flipping from side to side due to lack of water. It was not just the fish, but rather, even other aquatic animals that were found at the shallow end of the ocean were also revealed.

The sea had retreated so abruptly, not giving a chance for these aquatic animals to retreat with the wave.

It was a pity that all of this was happening, there was nobody to witness this. Currently, in the entire Crystal city, the majority of the population had already been turned into zombies, which were later turned into skeleton warriors.

The skeleton warriors were then cleared out by Henry and his group. As for the rest of the survivors, by now, they had already joined several survivors camp and bases that were formed inside Crystal city.

Although there were several groups of people that were independent and had not joined any survivors camp, they could not be found in this part of the city. After all, not only was this part of the city dangerous, but, there was no food for them here, and even the buildings had already been destroyed within.

Additionally, they had also realized that during the time that the storm had come over, the tide of the sea had suddenly risen. Since they were afraid of a tsunami occurring, they had retreated as far from the sea as possible.

After the retreating of the sea, it remained this way for about half an hour. Then, a certain wave was immediately formed. This wave was gigantic, completely no different from a tsunami.

In estimation, the size of the wave that was about to hit the land was about 700 m tall. This was by far the biggest wave that had been recorded in the history of humankind about a tsunami.

With explosive force, the huge wave charged towards the land. The beach that had been drying up suddenly became wet, and the sand was washed away by the wave.

Blaah! Booom! Crash!

The huge tidal wave collected with the buildings and other things that were found at the shore of the sea. Destruction immediately commenced. The ships and other water vessels were immediately drowned into the water, some of them even being destroyed by the pressure that the wave possessed.

In no time at all, the tidal wave had already covered about 2 km of land. And wherever the wave passed, only destruction was left behind, buried within the water.

About 5 km away from the sea...

Just like all the other parts of the city, this part of the city was also devastated from the storm that had occurred no long ago. Several buildings had already been destroyed, while vehicles filled the roads, making sure that nobody could drive on them.

There were several parts of the roads that had already been destroyed as well. This completely hindered people from utilizing the roads.

That was especially so considering that, being a port city, Crystal City was prosperous. For that reason, it was quite difficult to find an off-road vehicle. The majority of the vehicles that were present inside the city were all those that were used during normal times.

Within this Northern part of the city, there was a tall building consisting of 15 floors. Unlike the others that had already been destroyed, this building was way better. Although it was tall, and it was supposed to be one of those that experienced the harshest destruction from the storm, it was quite steady.

Within this building, there was a group of people that resided here. This group was one that belonged to the mutant warrior association, whose leader was Jake.

Currently, everything was moving on just fine, with a few people who were armed with weapons patrolling the area. Since it was the apocalypse, there were several groups of people that came over, trying to rob others. But, whenever they came over to this place, all of them were beaten up, with some of them even killed.

Currently, there was a group of people carrying either a sword, spear or other type of weapons. They were the group that was in charge of patrolling during the day. As for the rest of the group, the majority of them were resting because they had participated in a fight that occurred the previous night.

It was not just the Domination Star territory that was attacked during the previous night, but rather, even this base was attacked. It was just that, the level of attack that occurred here could not be compared to the one that occurred at the Domination Star territory.

And as they patrolled, they chatted amongst themselves.

"Man, I don’t know what boss is thinking about. With the current level of strength that we possess, it should not be a difficult task for us to be able to conquer the entire city."

"I know, right? But I don’t know why boss doesn’t seem to have any intention of doing that. Perhaps he doesn’t have that kind of ambition."

"You, stop badmouthing our boss. He has already done a lot for us, ensuring that we are safe, and we have food. What is the need of domination? We will have to patrol the entire city if we dominate the entire city now."

"That’s right. Anyway, it is not like I want to have the barren city. Currently, after the apocalypse descended, everything is ruined. Had it been before the apocalypse, then, I would have not minded conquering the entire city."

"You idiots, what nonsense are you speaking about? Do you think that we are the only force that is present within this city? There are other forces that are present as well, it is just that, they are keeping to themselves in the parts of the city that they have set up their base."

"Seriously? Are you trying to kid me? I do know that there are several forces that are present inside the city. After all, Crystal city is not something small, rather, it is quite big. But still, I do believe that our combat power is the greatest amongst all."

"You guys don’t know anything. During the last trip that we made towards the western part of the city, we encountered a group of strong people. Even our leader was not capable of matching any one of them."

"You’re joking, right? How can there be someone who is stronger than our boss?"

"If you don’t want to believe me, there is nothing that I can do about it. But still, I will have to warn you, you better not try provoking the people from Domination Star territory. Not only are we friends, but, they are strong and mysterious."

"Whatever. Anyway, it is not like they are going to stay the same even if they are strong now. Things are changing, and people are getting stronger every now and again. You may not know when we can get stronger than that person. Perhaps we are now stronger than them."

"Do you think that it is that easy for you to be able to overtake them in terms of strength? Maybe you are dreaming. Do you know what they did during the time that we were in the Western part of the city? At that time, they cleared an entire hoard of skeletons. The skeletons were in hundreds of thousands, perhaps even million."

"Who is going to believe that? A group of people being capable of clearing millions of skeletons? Are you trying to tell me that the skeletons were just standing there, waiting for them to be killed? Oh I forgot that skeletons supposed to be dead."

"Hey guys, do you hear that?"

"Of course we can hear this guy saying that there was a group of people that cleared up a group of skeletons. But anyway, it doesn’t matter, since the leader did not say anything about it, then, we can continue patrolling. But still, we can continue hearing that joke, to kill the boredom."

"I’m not talking about that. Don’t you feel like there is something that is approaching us?"

"Approaching us? Are you perhaps hallucinating or something? That was the reason why they told you that you are not supposed to drink when you are supposed to be on duty."

"I did not drink. I’m completely sober right now. Wait, wait, wait.... What the heck is that?!"

"What?"

"Holy moly! Is that a tsunami?!"

"Retreat immediately! Retreat into the building before that tsunami hits us!"

"What building are you talking about? If we enter into the building, we are going to be buried within it!"

"Trust me! Get into the building right now before things get ugly. That tsunami is not simple!"

As the group was chatting with each other, they suddenly realized that there was a tsunami that was approaching them. Moreover, just from looking at the size of the tsunami, they could tell that the destructive power that it possessed was not low.

In just a few seconds, the group managed to react. Some of them rushed back into the building, while those that did not believe what their friends had told them rushed away from the area, trying to overrun the tsunami that was approaching them at an incredible speed.
