Chapter 161: Upgrades, Absurd Prices

Currently, to upgrade even a single vehicle, a smaller one at that, it required him to provide 50 kg of steel, 5 kg of rubber, 10 kg of copper, and finally 20 level 9 rank O mutation crystals.

Although it might be true that the price was not high considering the number of mutation crystals that Henry currently possessed, but, if one went back during the time that Henry was first upgrading the Jeep, they would know just how high the price was.

Although the price of the materials that were required was not increased, but still, the price of the mutation crystals had been increased. After all, it had been moved from 5,000 level 1 mutation crystals, to 20 level 9 mutation crystals.

A single level 2 rank O mutation Crystal was worth 100 level 1 mutation crystals. The same applied to level 3 mutation crystal when converted into level 2. So, trying to convert 20 level 9 mutation crystals into level 1 mutation crystals was going to give 200,000,000,000,000,000 Level 1 Rank O mutation crystals.

When converted like this, the price was indeed insane. It actually cost 200 quadrillion level 1 rank O mutation crystals to upgrade any vehicle to the first star.

Still, Henry did not find this expensive anymore. After all, currently, he possessed a large number of mutation crystals that had been collected after he sold the bodies of the monsters to the system store.

Additionally, there was another conversion rate that had appeared. That was, a single level 1 Bronze rank mutation Crystal was actually worth 1000 level 9 rank O mutation crystals. With this conversion rate, just a single level 1 bronze rank mutation Crystal was enough for him to be able to upgrade 50 vehicles.

Of course, there was no need for him to upgrade so many vehicles. But still, Henry went ahead and upgraded 20 vehicles, of which, the majority of them needed some repairs which cost him three level 9 Rank O mutation crystals.

The majority of the vehicles that he had upgraded were of course buses and trucks. This was just in case they needed to move to another place, or they needed to transport something.

After upgrading the 20 vehicles, which consisted of seven buses and 13 trucks, Henry went ahead and selected a few vehicles that he upgraded as well. Then, after upgrading them, he selected 3 more vehicles to upgrade to the second star. and here, the price also showed up as well.

From the initial 100 kg of steel, 50 kg of aluminum, and 10,000 level 5 Rank O mutation crystals, the price had increased to 3 Level 1 Bronze rank mutation crystals. Henry could not understand how the system converted everything, but still, he found that the prices did not match.

In other words, the conversion rate from the time of the discount and now did not match at all, everything was completely different. It was as if the prices of the items or services that were offered by the system varied from time to time.

Nevertheless, since he was only upgrading three cars, Henry went ahead and did so. Taking three level one bronze rank mutation crystals from 62 was not that much. Moreover, Henry believed that Olivia and the rest actually possessed other mutation crystals that they had gotten from the dungeon.

With that finally out of the way, Henry decided that he was going to distribute the three cars that he had upgraded to the second star, one to Olivia, another one to Adam, and finally, another one was going to be given to Sarah.

As of now, those were the ones that had contributed the most. So, they deserved something. Additionally, they were definitely not going to be using his Jeep every time that they wanted to go somewhere. Additionally, there was also no need for them to actually take a bus if there were only two people that were going out.

Finally, Henry focused on increasing the energy reserve of the Jeep. Currently, the energy reserves were low. The charges were as follows, a level five bronze rank mutation crystal actually filled 0.5% of the energy reserve of the Jeep.

A level 6 bronze rank mutation Crystal filled 5% of the energy reserve. Level 7 on the other hand was capable of filling the energy reserve of the Jeep, making it reach 500%. Of course, the extra 400% was going to be stored somewhere else, where if the energy reserve was drained, the other 400% of the energy was going to be used.

As of now, Henry knew that the Jeep was only important when it came to clearing large number of monsters. So, there was no way that he was going to use a level 7 mutation crystal just to fill the energy.

Initially, the Jeep had 5% of its energy reserve filled. But after Henry used it, there was only 2.5% of the energy reserve remaining.

’System, what is the current amount of energy that is left in the Jeep?’ Henry asked.

[The current level of the energy of the Jeep is at 2.4782....%]

Henry calculated a little. According to the system, after using it to clear several hundreds of thousands of skeleton warriors, about 2.5% of the energy was used. Currently, Henry did not have many apocalyptic creatures that he needed to clear.

So, rather than using a level 7 mutation crystal, he decided to utilize the level 5 mutation crystal that he had gotten from the body of the Necromancer. Using it, the energy reserve of the Jeep immediately shot to 2.9782%.

Henry thought that this was going to be enough to hold on the functions of the Jeep. Since he was not going to use the attacking system of the Jeep, then, there was no need for him to worry much about the energy.

Anyway, the firepower of the Jeep was at level 5 Bronze rank. That was not something that Henry required more, only caring much about the massive destructive capabilities of the Jeep. It was just that, all of that could be replaced by his warlock profession when he utilized his mage path.

Finally, after completing this, Henry purchased the master keys from the system store. Previously, it had cost him 15 level 1 Rank O mutation crystals. This time, it had cost him 50 level 6 Rank O mutation crystals.

Just to make sure that not everybody could access the other vehicles, Henry decided to purchase for the other vehicles the keys that only functioned on them, rather than on the vehicles that had been upgraded to the second star.

This was just to prevent somebody from using the car to run away from the territory. After all, it had cost Henry a lot of mutation crystals to be able to upgrade the vehicles to the current level that they were in currently.

After going back, he went over and handed Olivia, Sarah, and Adam the keys to their cars. There was no much difference in the three cars that he had upgraded, other than the model. Nonetheless, the functions of the cars were the same.

Of course, since they did not know how to operate the upgraded cars, Henry had no choice but to purchase the skills from the system store. This one now cost him 100 level 9 mutation crystals. In the end, Henry had to spend 2300 level 9 mutation crystals.

That was just to make sure that everybody that was going to be involved in driving was going to receive the driving skill. But, he had not given anyone other than Adam, Sarah, and Olivia the skill scrolls.

For he himself, he did not need to learn the driving skill. Instead, just by touching anything, he would get the knowledge and skills of utilizing that item or equipment. That was the advantage that he had gotten from the system.

It was a good thing that the driving skill that he had handed over to them did not actually take even a single slot from them. It seemed that only those skills that were related to combat were the only ones that required the skill and slots.

With that finally out of the way, Henry finally began dealing with the matter of the escaping of the necromancer. He knew that he was lucky enough that he had not died by the hands of the necromancer once again.

Maybe that guy wanted to torture him a little, and that was the reason why he pierced his right chest. Had the Necromancer been a little more decisive, and not behaving like the clone did, then, perhaps Henry would have already died by now.

Of course Henry did not know that the reason why the Necromancer stabbed his right chest was only because of the confusion of where the heart of the human was supposed to be.

Anyway, Henry did not care much about that. Instead, what he cared about the most was how it was possible that the necromancer had managed to slip away under Storm’s watch.

He had already received information from Storm that the children were the ones that came over to distract him. Since they were young, more so for those that were aged between three to seven or eight years old, they were kind of difficult to control.

That was especially so for Storm who could not actually speak. There was no way that Storm was going to go out of there, to inform others to come over and take the children away. At the same time, he could not contact Henry as at that time, he was unconscious.

"Have you found out who was responsible for this?" Henry asked after entering the conference room that was present inside the territory building.
