The Soul System in the Apocalypse -
Chapter 150: Danger!
Chapter 150: Danger!
What followed next was that, a large amount of cold energy suddenly began seeping out of the ice prison. And, due to the wound that the bear had suffered, the circulatory system of the bear was finally exposed to the cold energy. So, the cold energy managed to penetrate into the body of the bear in large amounts.
Roar!
The bear roared in both anger and agitation. At this moment, the cold energy that Olivia had released had begun acting. It began freezing the blood of the bear, causing it to feel numb. At the same time, it felt that it’s life was being sucked away.
Feeling much fury, the bear began attacking the ice prison with all its might. It did not even try holding back, but instead, it was using all the skills that it possessed. At the same time, it tried to move away the wound from the cold energy.
It was just that, no matter where it moved, since it was inside the ice prison, there was no way that it was going to evade the cold energy. After all, from all sides, the cold energy was being released by the ice prison.
Olivia on the other hand felt that the ice prison was about to break apart. And, since she had finally managed to trap the bear, she was not willing to let it out. Instead, she was trying to make sure that she managed to kill the bear right now.
At the same time as she increased the intensity of the energy that she was supplying the ice prison with, she made sure to pay attention to the remaining monsters. But, she was a little surprised when she realized that none of them was making a move.
It seemed that, either they didn’t care about the bear, or, they believe that the bear was capable of breaking out of the ice prison.
Since she was given the chance, Olivia did not hesitate at all. Instead, she continuously increased the amount of energy that she was supplying to the ice prison. This time, it was not just to prevent it from breaking apart, instead, she wanted the cold energy to penetrate the bear’s body.
And, it was also during this moment that the ability that she had been given in the elemental hall finally showed its most importance. Ice manipulation. Since the cold energy had managed to enter into the blood circulatory system of the bear, Olivia was capable of detecting it.
The Ice manipulation skill allowed her to easily control ice energy. It did not matter if it was the energy that was present in her body or outside. Although it was a little difficult to control the energy that was outside of her body, but still, she was capable of doing it, although she was not much proficient in it as of now.
Mobilizing the energy in her body, she activated the ice manipulation skill. At the same time, she focused in her surroundings and detected the cold energy.
After a few seconds, she had finally managed to come into contact with the energy that was present inside the bear’s body. Without hesitation, she began manipulating that energy to form spikes.
As such, as the blood present inside of the bear’s circulatory system was moving, it also moved with the ice spikes. And, these spikes began attacking the bear from the inside.
So this time, other than the cold energy that was wrecking havoc inside the body of the bear, the bear was also being physically attacked from the inside. For that reason, internal bleeding immediately began.
The beer that had been thrashing around inside the ice prison felt the pain from the inside. Although the pain was not intense due to the muscles inside it being numbed by the cold energy inside its body, but still, the bear was able to feel the pain.
Roar!
At this point, the bear’s eyes had already turned crimson red. Knowing that it’s life was in danger, the bear was trying all its could to make sure that it got out of here. But, no matter how much it tried, it was not capable of breaking the ice prison that had been set around it.
The ice spikes that had been created by Olivia managed to penetrate the brain of the bear through the circulatory system. And with that, they destroyed the brain of the bear, finally ending its life.
Despite the bear being unwilling to die, it did not have a choice in this period of the apocalypse. It was weak, so, it was killed.
Olivia was finally relieved. It was a little tasking to control the cold energy that was outside her body. Moreover, she was forced to use a large amount of energy in order to control the cold energy that was outside her body.
At least, she had finally killed the bear. Now, it was time for her to deal with the next monster. It was good that these monsters had some intelligence, but, the intelligence that they had gotten had made them stupid.
They actually stayed on the sides watching as their compatriot was killed. Rather than just attacking Olivia, both at the same time, they had to become like humans who had a huge ego, claiming that they wanted to fight everything fairly.
Anyway, it was not like Olivia was complaining or anything. Instead, she was happy that they had decided to attack her one after the other, rather than all of them at the same time.
Although she had already informed the rest of the people that the leaders of the monsters were here, but, they were also needed in the other areas as well. After all, the bronze rank monsters were not only found in this area, but, the surrounding areas of the territory as well.
If Adam and the rest decided to come over, then, the others that had not managed to reach the bronze rank were going to be easily killed. And, until now, casualties without enough reason was not something that Olivia was looking forward to.
Olivia finally stopped supplying the ice prison with energy. And the moment that she did that, the ice prison disintegrated. What was then revealed was the body of the bear that had already slumped onto the ground.
The body was covered with an ice layer, although thin. Additionally, it seemed that before the bear died, it had begun bleeding from all of its orifices. Well, this was to be expected considering that all the veins and arteries that were transporting blood had been attacked.
Olivia was just about to finally turn her attention towards the remaining two monsters when she suddenly felt that there was danger that was approaching.
Her eyes suddenly narrowed into thin slits. At the same time, she tried to move away, but she realized that, although she was fast, it seemed that the attack this time was faster than she was.
Moreover, she could not understand how she had been attacked. After all, she had just shifted her attention from the remaining two monsters for just about 3 seconds when she was suddenly sneak attacked.
How could it be that the monster had managed to approach her, but she did not detect it at all?
Despite the many questions that Olivia was possessing, she knew that her life was in danger. Yes, she was putting on an armor, but, since she could feel that her life was in danger, then, that implied that the armor that she was putting on was not capable of blocking the fatal blow to her life.
Although she could have utilized the teleportation skill, but, the cool down had not ended yet. There were just about 10 seconds remaining. But, the attack did not have those 10 seconds to wait for the cool down to end..
Bang! Boom!
Just as Olivia was expecting that the blow was going to land on her, there was a sudden explosion that occurred behind her. Then, a huge shockwave suddenly blasted her away.
Since she had just begun moving at an incredible speed, her body was light. Additionally, one of her feet was not on the ground. So, she was not capable of stopping the shockwave from blowing her away.
She only managed to stabilize herself after being pushed about 20 m away from where she was before.
After stabilizing herself as fast as possible, Olivia turned around and was shocked by what she saw. The area that she was studying before had already been crushed, the ground already forming several craters.
And currently, there was a figure that was holding on to a stinger tightly. He was not moving even a single step backward, and neither did the monster. This implied that the two of them were actually at the same level when it came to the physical strength that they possessed.
The stalemate lasted for a few more seconds before both parties retreated. It was also during this moment that Olivia finally realized who it was that had appeared.
It was none other than Adam. Olivia could not help but be a little shocked. She knew that Adam had a grudge against her. So, she was not really expecting him to come over and save her.
Could it be that Adam had finally decided to let go of the grudge that existed between the two of them? Or could there be any other reason?
As if knowing what Olivia was thinking about, Adam stated indifferently, "Don’t think much about that. We both belong to the same territory. And, we both belong to the human race. Since it is a battle for domination between races, and you are important, then, I do believe that you are more valuable alive rather than dying."
When Olivia heard what he said, she could not help but feel a little dissatisfied. At the same time, the gratitude that she was having towards him for saving her from the attack suddenly diminished.
’I will look for a chance to repay you for this. Anyway, you are also important to the territory when you are alive, rather than dead.’ Olivia thought to herself as she finally focused on the creature that had attacked her.
