The Soul System in the Apocalypse -
Chapter 146: Stupid Mistake
Chapter 146: Stupid Mistake
’Keke. The humans always behave the same way. Despite the fact that there is an enemy at their doorstep, they still have the time to fight against each other, even when they clearly know that this is going to be the cause of their end.’ The necromancer who had just escaped from the room that he was being held captive thought to himself.
He had already noticed that there was actually a human that was around the place that he was being held. He was sure that even Storm had noticed that.
It was just that, he could not get out of there to deal with that guy. It was completely obvious that the person that had come over had some intentions for coming over. Since others were fighting outside, what was this guy doing here sneakily?
When the necromancer saw that there was actually a group of children that had come over, and they were targeting the wolf, he immediately realized that this had to be a plot by the guy that was here not long ago.
Anyway, not thinking much into the matter, the necromancer seized the chance when the wolf was distracted and sneaked away. Immediately after that, he rushed as far from there as possible while at the same time, he was making sure to limit the amount of dark energy that was leaking out of his body.
He already knew about the existence of a person that was possessing the light mage profession. That meant that she was able to detect him if he used his dark element.
He was just thinking of the route that he was going to use to get out of here when he suddenly realized something. Currently, he was in front of the territory building.
He remembered clearly that Henry had been unconscious for two consecutive days now. That implied that he might not be awake just yet. And if that was the case, then, before he left, he might use this chance to get rid of him as he was the most dangerous human that he had encountered so far.
He was sure that If Henry was given a chance to grow further, it was going to be troublesome for the dark race in the future. After all, the descent of the members of the other races was something that happened from low to high.
That implied that, only low level creatures from other races could descend for now. In the future, the stronger ones would be allowed to descend but, at that time, the humans would have grown stronger as well.
Had the other races been allowed to descend with all the power that they possessed, then, the humans would have already been annihilated. Then, it would be a battle for domination between the other races.
It was just that, currently, there was a force that was preventing the stronger beings of the other races from descending. It was obvious that the human race was being protected.
Additionally, in order to allow the clone to descend, the necromancer had to spend all the resources that he was given to use to set up a foundation here. But still, there was a limit to the power level of the clone that could descend.
Otherwise, they would have just summoned a supreme being of their race, even just for a few seconds, and that would be enough for that being to raze the entire country to the ground.
Sneering, the necromancer entered the building. Since he was here, he might as well kill Henry before taking the territory core. With him consuming it, his strength would grow further.
Killing intent flashed within the necromancer’s eyes as he approached the top floor of the building where Henry was sleeping.
Due to his ability to detect other life forms in his surrounding few meters, he was able to easily find Henry.
Currently, Henry was still unconscious. His eyes were tightly shut and his expression was serene. Currently, he was just wearing a white shirt that was exposed as the blanket that was used to cover his body did not cover the upper part of his body.
As he looked at Henry, the necromancer smiled evilly. ’The last time that I tried attacking you, there was an armor that protected your heart. This time, I should be able to pierce that heart of yours.’ The necromancer thought to himself as he looked around the room.
He saw that the complete pair of armor that Henry was wearing previously was currently set aside on a table that was not that far. Apart from that, there was also the sword that he always wielded.
The necromancer knew that the equipment that Henry possessed was of a high level as compared to the ones that were in the apocalypse’s current stage.
’I guess I’ll take those with me when I get out of here. And, it’s a pity that I cannot turn this brat into an undead because I don’t have much time.’ The necromancer thought once again as he summoned the scythe that he possessed.
He was not willing to continue wasting time here and risk being caught before completing what he wanted to do. So, he raised the scythe and swung it down.
Puchi!
Blood spurted as the scythe of the necromancer finally landed on Henry’s chest. The scythe had managed to pierce through Henry’s chest without much obstruction.
At this moment, Henry’s serene expression suddenly shifted. There was an expression of discomfort that appeared on his face, but he did not wake up. It was obvious that the pain stimulation did not do anything to him.
The necromancer waited for a few seconds for Henry to die. But, he was stunned when he saw that, other than Henry’s body convulsing for a few seconds, Henry showed no signs of dying any time soon.
Instead, the wound that he had suffered was actually slowly but surely recovering. That implied that, even if Henry was left here to die, he would not do so any time soon. Although he would still be having the same wound on his chest, he would be able to live for a few days.
After analyzing that, the necromancer squinted his eyes as he looked at Henry. He wondered, ’Just what kind of an anomaly are you? You cannot die even from such a wound?!’
As the necromancer frowned as he looked at Henry, he suddenly noticed the mistake that he had made. He had actually pierced through Henry’s right chest instead of the left.
He had forgotten about the fact that Henry was a human and his heart was located in his left chest rather than the right.
’It’s no wonder he’s not dying. It turns out that he was lucky that I did not get the heart. It seems that I only got his right lung and that’s it. Humph! There will be no next time when I attack this time.’ The necromancer scolded in his mind.
He raised the scythe In his hand again. Then without hesitation, he swung it down.
Thump!
Instead of the sound of the blade of the scythe piercing through flesh, there was the sound of a blunt object hitting flesh.
The necromancer’s eyes widened in surprise as he stared at the deep brown eyes that were staring back at him with coldness in them.
The necromancer felt his body shivering from the gaze that he was receiving. He couldn’t just believe what had just happened.
He had swung the scythe down, intending to crush Henry’s heart. In the end, just as the scythe was about to hit the target, Henry’s hand moved at a fast speed and grabbed the scythe’s handle, closer to the blade.
But of course, although he had managed to hold the scythe, it still managed to pierce into his chest. It was just that, the scythe did not manage to penetrate deeply until it reached his vital organs.
"I see. You are not dead yet. I guess I can just kill you right now then." Henry muttered in a low but cold voice.
The next moment, he began mobilizing the energy in his body. In the next moment, a fireball condensed in his left hand before it blasted towards the necromancer.
The necromancer on the other hand finally reacted when he heard Henry’s words. He knew that despite the fact that currently, Henry was injured, he was not capable of dealing with him without spending a lot of effort and time.
And, by the time that he would be done, he would have already attracted the attention of those that were fighting outside the barrier. With that, he was bound to die here as there was not just a single person in this territory that could deal with him.
So, he decided to use the skill that he had used to escape from where he was being held. His body suddenly melted and formed a thick black mist. After that, the thick smoke rushed towards the entrance of the room.
The necromancer who was currently in the form of a black mist had just reached the entrance when suddenly, the bright yellow flames with several hints of red reached it.
Booom!
A huge explosion occurred as the necromancer who was in the mist form, was suddenly forced to revert back to his physical form. At the same time, the body of the necromancer was blasted into the hallway.
...
Outside the barrier surrounding the territory, Sarah had just used the light sword of judgment when suddenly, her expression shifted as she looked towards the territory.
She detected that there was a large amount of dark energy that was being used. Despite not knowing how the necromancer was able to use his element despite the fact that he was being watched over by Storm, Sarah reacted immediately.
"Attention all of you! The necromancer is making a move!" Sarah immediately reported in the walkie-talkie.
