Chapter 143: Nighttime Attack

Adam looked silently at Henry. During these two days that Henry had been unconscious, it was only then that he finally realized how he had depended so much on Henry.

For more than 15 years, they had been together, spending almost every time together, other than night time where they had to sleep. But of course, there were moments that they slept in one place together.

And after they had been taken to the island, they spent almost every moment together considering that they slept on the same bunker bed.

And now, since he did not have that many friends to talk to, he felt a little lonely. But, other than going out, he had always spent a lot of time together with Henry. He had to ensure his safety, even though they were inside the invisible barrier that was surrounding the territory.

Although it might be true that there were not many enemies, however, there was still a group of 10 that had been taken in after they had killed their leader. So, if that group was not watched, they might do something to the unconscious Henry.

Minutes went by and soon, it had already been 3 hours ever since they came back with the bodies of the monsters. But, it was also at this moment that suddenly, the alarm system of the territory rang.

[Danger alert! Monsters are intruding the territory! Danger alert! Monsters are intruding the territory! Danger alert! Monsters are intruding the territory!]

Adam frowned a little. He wondered what was going on. After all, the distance between the territory that was located in the eastern part of the city, was quite big from the forest where the monsters resided in the southern part of the city.

So, he was wondering why the monsters were suddenly here. Could it be another monster tide? Adam could not help but ask himself. Again, if it was a monster tide, then, why was it that they were not informed in advance about it?

Or could it be that at this stage of the apocalypse, they would not be told about an approaching monster tide? Or was this not part of the apocalypse, but instead, it was just the monsters that had decided to attack?

Adam began speculating about the reason for the attack. But, there was no answer to the questions that he was having in his mind. So, he could only shake his head and decide to leave.

Although it was true that currently, the territory was protected by a barrier, there was no guarantee that it could not be broken if it was attacked continuously. So, if there was any hostile force that had arrived, they had to take care of it as soon as possible.

So, after giving Henry one last glance, Adam walked out of the room. During the trip that they had been hunting the monsters, they did not target any bronze rank monsters.

In fact, the number of Bronze rank monsters that they had found was quite small. And although they had killed them, they did not make any significant change in their levels.

Since they wanted the children to get the energy in their body, and they were looking for a large number of monsters, they went for the easy targets. So, they targeted Rank O monsters.

In this way, not only was it simple for them to kill them, but, even the number of monsters that were in that particular rank was quite high. So, they did not have to search for long.

’From the looks of it, it seems that this attack on us is organized. All the same, if there is a group of bronze rank apocalyptic creatures out there, then, I might use this chance to reach the third level of the bronze rank.’ Adam thought to himself as he left.

But, he did not notice that as he left, Henry’s finger began twitching a little. However, it was just for a moment before the movements completely stopped.

Outside the territory building, Olivia and the rest who had just taken their supper had already gathered outside. They knew that they had to deal with this group of monsters as soon as possible. After all, there was no guarantee that the barrier that was around the territory was not going to be broken by this group of monsters.

Additionally, they might use this chance as well to make sure that they leveled up. They had to take advantage of the beginning stages of the apocalypse to level up.

"This time, this group of monsters is a little organized as compared to the ones that had attacked the facility." Olivia stated as she looked at the group of monsters that was attacking the barrier.

The ones that had taken the lead were those that were in Rank O. And behind them, they could say that there was yet another lineup.

Additionally, the ones at the forefront were the weakest amongst all of the. It was obvious that they were going to be used as cannon fodder. Additionally, they were used to test the waters.

"This time, it seems that other than a chance for us to level up, we might be encountering something that has been orchestrated. It is either the leader of the monsters that had planned for this, or, there is someone behind the scenes." Sarah stated as she also paid attention to the large number of monsters that had gathered outside the barrier.

Had it not been for their good vision, they surely would not have seen the large group of monsters that was outside, since it was already almost night time, and darkness had already began enveloping the area.

"Okay. We have to take care of them as soon as possible. It is going to be night time soon. So, it is going to be difficult for us to fight in the dark. We better deal with them right now considering that the light is still there." Olivia instructed.

Since Henry was currently unconscious, she had already taken the mantle of the leader. And although Adam was a little dissatisfied with her, he had to obey the orders as well. If he ever wanted to take the position of the second in command from her, he had to get stronger than her.

Since currently the entire territory had been surrounded from both sides, they divided themselves. But still, they decided to let Storm to continue guarding the necromancer.

They knew that this necromancer might actually use this chance to make a move. So, it was better if there was someone that was watching him.

As for getting out of the restrictions that he was bound in, that was not a difficult task considering that he possessed a skill that was capable of making him take a gaseous form.

And so, the group finally moved. They made sure that they were closer to each other, and each of them carried a walkie-talkie. All of this was just in case there was an emergency.

The person that was the most excited when attacking was of course Adam. This was a chance that he was going to use to get stronger than before. Although he was currently not capable of dealing with Olivia, as long as he managed to level up by two levels, he might be able to become stronger than her.

At this moment, even the four kids that had decided to become warriors stepped forward. But, all of them were assigned to a person who was going to take care of them. Currently, they were still at the first level of Rank O. They still needed to kill a few more monsters before they could level up.

Additionally, they did not have fighting experience. So, they might end up making a mistake in the battlefield, and that would be the end of their lives.

But this was something that Olivia was not looking forward to. After all, these four children had stepped forward and were brave enough to want to become mutant warriors. So, she had to nurture them.

Additionally, all of them had gotten s grade professions. Although it was true that the period for people to get graded professions had already passed, Olivia and the rest were not sure why the children had been given graded professions.

Still, they could relate all of this to the fact that, the children had actually been killing monsters that were at least the second or third level of Rank O. Anyway, at least, they had been given an opportunity to take a graded profession. In this way they would be way stronger than their peers of the same level.

At this time, amongst the group of 10 that had been taken in by Henry, there was a young man that had blonde hair. Just like the others, he had also gone out to deal with the monsters.

Currently, he had already managed to reach the 9th level of Rank O, and he was not that far away from reaching the bronze rank. It was just that, he was not being given an opportunity of getting a strong apocalyptic creature that he could kill to reach the bronze rank.

At this time, he was vigilantly observing the movements that all the others were making. And after he was sure that nobody was paying much attention to him, he slipped back into the territory.

And immediately after that, he headed towards the direction where they were keeping the necromancer.

’Let me see how you are going to handle this. Getting attacked from both the inside and outside. You will have to pay for what you did.’ The young man thought to himself as he approached the building where Storm was currently in, guarding against the necromancer.
