The Soul System in the Apocalypse -
Chapter 142: Plan Initiated
Chapter 142: Plan Initiated
It had already been two days ever since the necromancer was brought to the territory. Olivia immediately made arrangements on where he was going to stay.
Despite the fact that the Necromancer had actually submitted and agreed to do what they wanted, that did not mean that he was now their ally.
They were sure that the moment that this necromancer got a chance, he was going to strike at them. So, they had to be cautious of him at all times.
For that reason, Olivia organized for one of the buildings that was within the invisible barrier to be used as a prison. Additionally, she tasked Storm with the duty of protecting that area. After all, Storm was strong enough to guard the necromancer.
Despite the fact that they had taken the necromancer as a prisoner, the energy in his body was not yet restricted. And now, although they had bound him, that did not imply that he could not use the skill that enabled him to turn into thick black smoke and escape.
For that reason, it was required that someone watched over him entirely. At the same time, they had to make a shift because there was no way that Storm was going to stay there 24/7. So, then would give Storm a few hours of rest every day.
At the same time, since they had brought in the Necromancer because they wanted to use his ability, Olivia, Adam, Diana, Sarah, and Jasmine all set out to do hunting.
Since the Necromancer could turn dead bodies into undead warriors, they wanted to hunt monsters and bring them back. At the same time, if they found any human that attempted to attack them, they would kill them, then, bring the body back.
It was just that, hunting the monsters was a little difficult. After all, the distance between the territory and the nearest forest where the monsters were residing was quite big. The forest was in the southern part of the city.
Still, they did not find this as something that they could not do. After all, other than the fact that by bringing the dead bodies, they would be able to enable the necromancer to do his duty, they themselves were able to level up by killing the monsters.
As for the children, after the dead bodies had been turned into undead warriors, the children were given a chance of killing them. But of course, this was something that the majority of the children were afraid of.
After all, looking at a lion that was only made of bones was scary. But, this was the apocalypse. It was either these children killed these monsters, or, they might end up getting killed in the future if they were let out of the territory.
But of course, there were a few of them that were not afraid of killing the monsters. The majority of them were those that had been watching movies, or played several games that involved killing.
So, after a little convincing, they were able to go ahead and slaughter the monsters that had been turned into undead warriors.
There was also a group of children that wanted to become warriors. So, they were given a chance that, after every kid had killed a single undead warrior, they would be allowed to try and kill as many monsters as possible to be able to take a certain profession.
There was a total of 378 children in the entire territory. So, Olivia’s group was required to transport at least 378 bodies.
Of course, this was something that Olivia and her group found a little difficult. After all, after the storm, the roads had been destroyed. Additionally, the bodies of the monsters were heavy. So, although there were several heavyweight trucks that were present within Crystal City because it was a port city, but, to be able to bring them back, while traveling on the destroyed roads, it was quite difficult.
Nevertheless, during the past 2 days, they had managed to bring all 378 monsters. The good thing was the fact that, the number of monsters were high in the forest. Additionally, it seemed that the bear that was leading the group of monsters was not around.
For that reason, the monsters were scattered. It was just that, unlike during the first days where the monsters did not fight against each other, this time, they were actually fighting against each other, trying to consume the other.
Olivia and her group had realized that these group of monsters were fighting against each other because they wanted the mutation crystal that was inside the head of the other.
After taking in the mutation crystal, they would be able to grow stronger. It seemed that the path of evolution for the monsters was slightly different from the humans.
As for the group of humans that had been gathering outside of the territory, the majority of them had dispersed. At first, they were scared that they might irritate the people Inside the territory, and end up dead like the group that had come over not long ago.
Secondly, after they realized that the group inside the territory was actually allowing their children to kill monsters, the majority of them were satisfied. Despite the fact that there were a few of them that did not feel comfortable looking at their children encountering monsters that might become nightmares for them, they had no choice but to agree that in the apocalypse, everyone had to be strong.
It was good enough that the people in the territory took good care of their children. They provided them with meals, and now, they were allowing them to choose professions. This was no different from setting a future for them.
Due to the hunger, the majority of the people finally decided to leave. They had to look for food. And, since the majority of the food in the city had been cleared out, they had no choice but to join other territories that allowed them to.
From time to time, since the city was not as dangerous as it was when it was filled with zombies, they would come out to visit their children.
During these two days, they had been allowed to interact with their children. It was just that, they could only interact with a barrier between them.
Olivia had also noticed that after the children obtained the energy after killing the monsters, the red mist was no longer capable of penetrating into their bodies.
Although she was not sure if this was an opportunity or danger, she knew that it was better to take precautions. Since they did not know anything about the red mist that was covering the sky, it was better if they did not allow it to enter their bodies.
Currently, it had already reached 4:00 p.m. in the evening. Olivia’s group had just returned with another batch of monsters bodies. They dropped them onto the ground, and brought over the necromancer.
The necromancer had already learned a lesson during the past 2 days. So, he did not say anything stupid. Instead, he went ahead with the ceremony, turning the dead bodies of the monsters into undead warriors.
The moment that the dark energy touched the monsters’ bodies, it penetrated into them. And in front of all the people that were observing, the flesh of the monsters began decaying.
After about a minute, the decaying flesh turned into dust. Bones were exposed completely, without any flesh or blood on them. At the same time, the bones took a dark shade.
Klag! Klag!
The sound of bones colliding with each other reached the ears of the people in the surroundings as the skeletons rose up.
After rising up, they did not move as they were under the control of the necromancer.
Olivia then brought over a group of four kids that wanted to become warriors. Until now, they had not selected any profession despite the fact that they were offered a choice to make for non-combat professions.
All of them were about 13 years old. There was only one of them that was 12 years old and she was a girl. In fact, she was the only girl that wanted to become a warrior.
According to her, she claimed that, she wanted to become a warrior so that she could take revenge on the monsters that had killed her parents. She was determined, despite the fact that she was afraid.
Olivia and the rest could not help but pity this child. She was just young, but, she had already lost everyone that she loved. And now, she was forced to experience the apocalypse at a tender age.
"Go ahead and kill them." Olivia stated. At the same time, she kept an eye on the necromancer, just in case he decided to make a move.
They had already warned the necromancer that in case there was even a single fluctuation of energy around him, they were going to kill him.
One by one, the four kids went ahead and began slaughtering the monsters. And after each of them killed 10 of them, they were six of them that were left. To this, Olivia decided to give to the girl to kill them.
After that was finally out of the way, the four children were informed about the combat professions. They were told all of this because Olivia and the rest did not want them to make wrong choices that they might regret in the future.
After Adam ensured that everything was okay here, he left and went to look for Henry. All this time, Henry had been unconscious and had not woken up yet.
Although his condition had improved and he was no longer sweating as before, but still, Adam was worried. After all, he did not know the condition that Henry was in. He had tried asking the necromancer if he knew about it, but, the guy claimed that he knew nothing about it.
Had it not been for the fact that the Necromancer was considered important, Adam would have already slaughtered him due to anger.
