The Soul System in the Apocalypse
Chapter 128: A Mysterious Existence

Chapter 128: A Mysterious Existence

"That will not do. No matter what, I am currently your second in command. There’s no way that I’m going to leave you to take care of the problem by yourself. This is a matter concerning the territory that I am part of." Olivia immediately refuted.

Henry sighed. He was happy that there was still a group of people that at least cared about him even in the apocalypse. But, it was completely different when it came to what they were dealing with. During a time like this, it was not the best for them to show how much they cared about each other.

Instead, they were supposed to focus on the end goal, and that was, the domination of the entire human race over the other races that had appeared.

As he looked at Sarah and Jasmine, from the way that they were looking at him, it was obvious that even though they had not said anything, they were thinking of the same thing as Olivia and Adam.

Shaking his head, Henry looked at them and said, "This is not a matter of how close we are to each other. Instead, this is a matter concerning the lives and death of the human race. Currently, our territory only has Storm for protection. We don’t know what has appeared but there is one thing that we’re sure about, and that is, it’s dangerous."

Olivia did not respond. But from her stance, Henry could tell that she was not going to change her mind on what she had decided on. At the end of the day, in the territory, there was nobody that she cared about. She only cared about Sarah and she was here.

As for Adam, he looked at Henry before saying, "You should know that this kind of talk does not work on me. so, you should forget about getting me out of here."

Looking at this group of stubborn people, for a moment, Henry felt a little helpless. But, in the next moment, he took a deep breath and said, "I have a skill that I got from the dungeon. With it, I should be able to handle the creature that is to appear."

Olivia looked at Henry. From the serious expression on his face, that implied that he was telling the truth. Still, there was one thing that Olivia knew. She looked at Henry and said, "It is true that you have the skill. But, there should be some limitations on it, right?"

"The limitation of the skill will not prevent me from dealing with that creature. And, if even with that skill I cannot deal with the creature, then, even if you guys are here, it will be completely useless. You might as well go back to the territory and help the children to get the energy in their bodies to prevent the mist from invading their bodies further."

All those around knew that what Henry had said was true. But. It was just that, they were not willing to let Henry face the danger all by himself.

As for Olivia, her impression of Henry had gone up during the time that they had been together. Additionally, Henry possessed skills and abilities that would be important for the future development of the human race. So, if he died here, it would be a great loss. She was sure that Henry was bound to go far and that was why she was willing to follow him.

But, what he had just said was the truth of the matter. Even though she had not yet seen Henry’s current strength, just from the previous times that she had seen him in action, he was indeed stronger than her.

After hesitation, she looked at Henry and said, "I will wait for half an hour. If you are not back, then I’ll come looking for you." After saying that, she turned around and left with Jasmine and Sarah as they went into the jeep.

As for Adam, his expression was resolute, implying that he was not going to leave no matter what. Helplessly, Henry shook his head and said, "You should know me better. I always say and do things according to my ability. So, now, even if I’m not capable of defeating the creature, then I can always retreat."

Adam looked at Henry and thought that this was true. Henry was never good at bragging. Additionally, even if he could not beat the creature, he should be able to retreat, right?

"Trust your brother, will you? I will be back. We still have to get back home. It has already been ten years now." Henry stated seriously as he thought about his parents that he had not seen for over a decade now.

"Okay. I will trust you to do this. But, if you don’t come back in thirty minutes, just like Olivia said, I’ll be coming back for you." After saying that, he turned around and left without looking back.

Henry smiled when he saw this. He knew that this was Adam forcing himself to do something that he did not want. Anyway, with them out of the way, Henry was sure that he could fight freely without any worries.

Olivia already understood the basics of driving the jeep. So, she was the one that was going to drive the jeep back to the territory. It was just that, she was not proficient enough to use the other functions on the jeep. It was a good thing that defensive systems were automated as well as the attacks for the ones that would be attacking the jeep.

As the jeep drove away into the distance, Henry focused his gaze on Jake. "You too should leave. The battle that will occur here will definitely be out of your league."

Jake looked at Henry with pursed lips. Although he wanted to refute Henry, he knew that Henry was right. Just the three that had fought the necromancers before, one of them was stronger than him, another on the same level as him and the other slightly weaker than him.

If they were in the mutant warrior association, they would have been at the top. But here, there was yet another three people that was above them in terms of strength.

Just remembering the question marks that he had seen when looking at the stats of Henry and the rest of the group, he thought that they were mysterious.

After thinking the matter through, since even Adam who was stronger than him was useless here, then that implied that he was useless as well. He looked at Henry and said, "I will take my leave. But, I’ll always remember the favor that you have done for my mutant warrior association. In the future, if there is a time that you will need my assistance, I’ll be ready to help wherever I can."

After saying that, he nodded at Henry before turning around as he led the remainder of the group that he had brought over, back to their base.

In the entire area, in the devastated grounds, only two figures remained. They were Henry and Diana. Diana did not say any word. And, as Henry’s summoned creature, there was no way that she was going to leave him to fight alone. She had to fight by his side.

After everyone left, Henry’s expression became somber. At this moment, he could feel that there was pressure that was developing from the side that the monsters had been looking at. From this, he could tell that, whatever it was that the leader of the necromancers did, it was going to be dangerous.

Additionally, Henry possessed no information about what was happening there. So, he was extremely cautious at this moment. Although he was talking confidently previously, that was simply because he wanted the situation to remain in his control.

Booom!

An explosion suddenly resounded in the air. At the same time, the building that was having the underground parking lot trembled before finally collapsing.

At the same time, Henry felt that there was a pressure that was unlike any that he had ever experienced before erupting from the same source as the explosion. The pressure and aura were ancient and it made Henry narrow his eyes. He felt as if there was something terrible that had descended.

Booom!

Another loud explosion resounded in the air once again. And this time, the remains of the building were ground into dust. It was also at this time that finally, Henry was able to see that, in the cloud of dust, two figures had appeared. And, one of them was definitely the leader of the necromancers.

Since they were a distance away from each other, although Henry’s senses had been enhanced with his increase in strength, he was not able to tell clearly what the other figure looked like. But, unlike the necromancer who was wearing a dark robe that had a hoodie, the other figure was dressed just like how a modern man would, a shirt and a trouser.

Rather than waiting for them to come looking for him, Henry began walking towards them. And as he approached, he finally saw what the other figure looked like.

Unlike the necromancers who were straight ugly, this other figure was that of a handsome man. He looked like a man that was in his early forties. He was wearing a simple grey trouser and a black long-sleeved shirt. He had a clean-shaven chin and short hair that was well maintained.

There was just a single difference from normal humans, and that was that, he possessed very pale skin and red eyes. Henry could see blood veins that were flowing with blood in the parts of the neck that was exposed. Additionally, the color of the skin was grey with some shade of green.

The necromancer looked around and couldn’t help but get astonished. He had expected that the necromancers and the skeleton warriors would not be able to hold on for a long period of time. But, he had never expected that they would actually be killed, all of them!

He looked at Henry ferociously and asked, "Do you know what you have done? You have caused us to suffer innumerable losses. Do you know how much effort we had to..." He was just about to continue when suddenly, a small but firm shout interrupted him.

"Shut up!"
