Chapter 102: Bloody Sky

Just as expected, there was a commotion that had been caused by the decision that had been made by Diana and the others, to take only the children with them.

The majority of the people didn’t want to be abandoned here. After all, they had already witnessed how dangerous the world was and, they were not willing to die.

But of course, no matter how hard they tried to convince Adam and the others, they did not budge. Since Henry had decided that he was only going to take the children, then, they were not going to change that because they considered that to be true. All the others were completely useless now, and they would only be depending on them for everything.

Additionally, even though it was true that the territory currently needed to recruit 100 people, that did not mean that they were supposed to lower the standards of the qualifications of recruiting individuals.

Some parents could not agree to have their children go to somewhere that they did not know about. Even though they were assured that their children were going to be safe there, they did not want to believe that.

At the end of the day, it was not long ago that the apocalypse had descended. Additionally, majority of them had already been ingrained with the belief that, just like how there was human trafficking, perhaps this group of people wanted to do something with their children.

"If you are taking people with you, then take all of us with you. Why are you trying to act so mysterious? Or are you perhaps trying to get the children so that you can use them?"

"That’s right. Even if you don’t want to take anyone else with you, you will have to take me so that I can make sure that you don’t have any evil plans with our children."

"Get lost! You don’t even have a child and yet you are claiming shamelessly that they have to take you with them? They are supposed to take me with them because I have a son here."

"Your son is already 13. He can take care of himself. There’s no need for you to go over and babysit him."

"No matter what, I am not going to allow you to take away my daughter. It doesn’t matter if you are claiming that your territory is safe, nonetheless, I do believe that, my daughter will be way safer with me."

"You people better know that, if you are not going to take all of us with you, then, you don’t have to take anybody with you."

Adam’s eyes squinted as he looked at the group. He was completely displeased by the way that these parents were behaving. Why were they acting in such a manner?

It was a good thing that Henry had already decided to favor them, and ensure the safety of their children. However, the parents were acting so out of line, as if the help that had been granted to them was what was supposed to be given, and not a favor.

He himself was taken away when he was just 10. He and Henry had to survive by themselves, trying to work, just to ensure that they did not get into the bad books of the security personnel of the facility.

Unlike these brats that were being taken in to be taken care of, they had to work for the whole day, consume less meals, and even they would be deprived of sleep sometimes. That was the life that they had been living.

Completely tired with the noise that this group of people was making, Adam began releasing his aura. At the same time, he looked at the group ferociously and said, "I don’t care what you are going to say. But, if you care about your children, then allow them to come with us. And if you think that we are going to do something to your children, then you might as well stay with them. At the end of the day, if they die, their blood will be upon yourselves."

"This is the apocalypse. We are the ones who are going to spend a lot of resources in order to make sure that these children of yours are going to grow up.

But now, you think that we are begging you because we need the children? If you don’t want your child to come with us, then you might as well move to the side and allow through those that want their children to come with us."

Adam’s voice was so loud that everyone in the room was forced to shut up. At the same time, they were completely intimidated by Adam’s ferocious gaze.

Even though Adam’s face was not that intimidating, but, the aura that was surrounding him was full of bloodlust. So, everyone shrunk their necks, as they retreated.

After everyone had calmed down, Adam looked at Jasmine. He didn’t say anything, but it was a clear sign that she had to do what had to be done.

"You have all heard what he has said. Currently, I’m not here as the daughter of the governor, but here as myself and as a member of the territory. All of you should know that resources have become scarce during this time."

"It is not that we don’t want to provide for you, it is just that, we don’t have the ability to do that. And currently, if we take in the whole population, then it is going to be a very difficult task to provide the food that is required."

"But, even though we are leaving now, there is still a chance that you can join the territory. And that is, you have to be a little useful. Otherwise, there is no way that the territory is going to agree on you joining it."

"As for the children that are joining it, this is due to the favor that the leader of the territory has for the children. After all, they are the future of the human race."

The crowd once again wanted to complain, but looking at Adam who was staring at them, they had no choice but to shut up. It was obvious that they were not going to agree to this, as they really valued their lives.

But in front of Adam, they were sure that if they continued complaining, they might as well be killed in the next second.

But, this was just something that was going to happen for a while. However, for those that did not have children, or had already lost everyone in their families, they really didn’t care anymore.

"I don’t care if you are going to agree to take us with you or not. But no matter what, I have to go to that territory. My safety has to be guaranteed..."

Before he could even finish what he was saying, Adams snorted and slashed with the axe in his hand. Still, he did not use his full force. But nonetheless, there was an energy that was released, and it directly hit the person’s heart, killing him on the spot.

This immediately frightened everyone present. Some parents went ahead to close the eyes of their children, to ensure that they did not see such a cruel scene where blood was leaking out to the man’s body.

"Let me make it clear. For those that want their children to be safe, you can allow them to come. For those that don’t want, then don’t cause trouble. Otherwise, don’t blame me for being ruthless." Adam stated.

After that, finally, Jasmine was able to take a group of children. Not many of them had been able to make it here, but nonetheless, in the population of about 3000 humans that were hiding here, there was a group of children that summed up to 378.

Even though the majority of the parents were reluctant to let their children go, they had no choice. After all, this was the best choice that they could have made to have their children protected. At least, this way, their bloodline would not be lost.

And of course, there were several children that were crying as they were forced to part with their parents. But nonetheless, Adam and the others didn’t care.

After everything was done, Adam organized for them to find buses that were still in good condition. After that, the children boarded the buses, and waved goodbye to their parents.

Of course, Adam and the others also gave the remaining people the directions that they were supposed to follow in order to reach the territory.

Thankfully, the city was currently calm, and there were not as many zombies as there were before. If there was a zombie, then, that zombie might have been locked inside a house, and was not capable of leaving the city.

As they watched the buses disappearing into the distance, several parents shed tears. But after that, they became resolute. They knew that in order to see their children again, they would have to prove themselves important.

"Why don’t we try and look for zombies to kill? I heard that in order to become a mutant warrior, we will have to deal with at least 10 zombies." An old lady suggested.

"That’s right. We have to deal with the zombies in order to be able to become mutant warriors. Let’s look for them."

"Hey, do you have a weapon? We need weapons to deal with them. Zombies are not easy to deal with."

"Are you guys idiots? Each and every one of us needs to kill 10 zombies to be able to become a mutant warrior. So tell me, how are we supposed to deal with 10 zombies by ourselves?"

The group finally fell silent. They knew how difficult it was to deal with the zombies, as they had already experienced how terrifying they were.

Just at the group was beginning to speculate, a dark cloud suddenly appeared in the previously clear sky. There was no any indication that there was going to be rain, but suddenly, the sky became dark.

And with that, darkness descended all over the land. And in the next moment, the dark clouds suddenly began turning red. Not only that, the color of the clouds has suddenly become red, like that of blood, painting the whole world red.

A metallic scent suddenly began spreading into the air. And what followed was, red mists began spreading out of the clouds, spreading all over the city.
