The Red Dragon Just Wants To Do As It Pleases -
Chapter 61 - 60: Pride
Chapter 61: Chapter 60: Pride
David, diving into the burning sea of fire, realized he was up against what he was least adept at handling when he failed to pounce on his target as expected—the "soft target."
Yes, the kind that doesn’t go head-on with you but instead sneaks in a shady move now and then.
After all, even in his youthful state as the leader of the Chromatic Dragons, the red dragon, his explosive power in an instant could surpass that of a young green dragon.
By the standards of sentient humanoid beings, this was—Supernatural Strength!
This instantaneous, explosive Supernatural Strength could even bridge the desperate chasm in physical power caused by their nearly twofold difference in size.
But it seemed the green dragon before him understood this and had anticipated his thoughts. Without engaging David directly, she started with a deceitful "Misdirection" to neutralize the red dragon’s most powerful attack—his Fire Dragon Breath.
However, David wasn’t annoyed at this moment. Instead, he was even more excited and relished the battle, for he hadn’t encountered a worthy fight in too long.
Right! That’s how it should be! An opponent who can’t be instantly taken down is precisely the kind of match I’ve been looking forward to!
No, "Misdirection" shouldn’t be an ability a young green dragon possesses. This female must be a Magic Addict! How splendid!
Just as such a ’calm and rational’ thought entered his mind, David was shocked to realize that by holding such a thought, he couldn’t stack "Wrath" at all.
If he hadn’t gotten angry, then it was possible he might not be able to unleash the "Authority of Wrath"?
"Damn!" David immediately became somewhat irritated by this realization.
"Wrath"
That’s right! This is how it should be! It seems that, as a red dragon, I need to be more irritable daily!
Thinking this, David suddenly felt that familiar, intense hunger in his belly. Immediately, within the sea of fire, he closed his eyes, tilted his head back, and thrust all six limbs into the Dragon Nest.
"Authority—Gluttony"
The next moment, Drow and Yevgeny were hurrying toward the Dragon Nest. The High Elves instinctively looked back due to the sudden silence. Lizrite, the red dragon, was paralyzed and unable to move on the cliffside. All of them witnessed a magnificent and beautiful spectacle:
The towering flames that had suddenly ignited under David’s Dragon Breath, aided by the wind as if to set half the mountain ablaze, were now rolling back in unison. David, looking as if his jaw had been dislocated, consumed everything that was swept back by the wind and fire, like a Jörmungandr devouring all in the mortal world.
In an instant, the raging fire was inexplicably swallowed back into David’s belly. This fire could have completely consumed most of the mountaintop, along with the Dragon Nest, over time. It was as though time itself had reversed.
All beings witnessing this scene stared wide-eyed in astonishment.
What on earth was this ability?
Or was it some unheard-of school of magic?
Lizrite, too, looked on, her face filled with shock. The storm had abruptly ceased, and David appeared unsatiated, as if she were seeing this red dragon for the first time.
CLAP! CLAP! CLAP!
Then they saw the green dragon, also full of admiration, tapping her tail on the ground.
"Worthy of being the Child of the Crimson Calamity! Such domineering and extraordinary talent. This must be a divine grace bestowed by Our Lord, the Chromatic Dragon Queen, right? Truly enviable for dragons."
"BURP..." David, unsure how much inorganic matter he had consumed in that one gulp, let out a fiery belch. He didn’t feel as hungry anymore. Then he smiled and ’acknowledged,’
"Indeed, this is a gift from Our Lord, the Dragon Queen. Quite satisfactory, isn’t it? But don’t get too excited so easily; this is just the beginning!"
"Let’s continue this dance!"
As David spoke, the tips of his wings once again burst into blazing flames. But he didn’t take off. Instead, like a top-quality racing car fitted with two rocket boosters, he charged once more towards the green dragon’s physical form.
The next moment, a scene of draconic combat unlike anything Lizrite had ever witnessed unfolded.
As the two vastly different-sized dragons neared each other, they truly began to dance within the Dragon Nest.
Twirling, tail-sweeping, clawing, biting, wing-striking, leaping, repositioning—they continued to wield every part of their bodies as a lethal weapon.
Despite such grandiose mutual assaults, they never once had a hard-hitting encounter typical of other dragon battles. There was no trading of claw for bite, nor did one pounce directly on the other to grapple on the ground.
From beginning to end, apart from the roaring sound of the wind, the two dragons never made contact!
In that moment, seeing the disparity in their sizes, Lizrite instantly understood.
The female dragon was wary of David’s terrifying explosive power as a red dragon, while David also had to dodge her heavy, powerful attacks.
For both sides, taking even one direct hit could mean serious injury.
It was truly a dance on the Grim Reaper’s blade.
Yet, the young female green dragon possessed reaction speed and agility far surpassing David’s. She managed to narrowly escape his explosive strikes time and again, even wearing a slight, elegant smile of enjoyment.
In comparison, David, as a red dragon, seemed to be struggling somewhat. Yet, oddly enough, he always seemed to predict his opponent’s attack trajectory in advance, narrowly dodging the female dragon’s deadly assaults each time.
"Authority—Greed"
David’s mouth always bore an excited and ferocious smile.
He had longed for such an ’equally matched’ battle!
"Greed"
More!
More!
More to satisfy this greedy body that’s about to explode!!!
As the young green dragon was driven to the cliff, using her wings to ascend swiftly into the sky, David, attempting a ’diving pounce,’ crashed headlong into the cliff’s mud and rocks with a loud BANG.
"Impressive! To be forced to this extent by a mere wyrmling... I’m... actually starting to enjoy this more and more..."
The young female green dragon, flying mid-air, had just managed to say something coquettishly when, accompanied by a cryptic whisper like a magic chant, her slightly open mouth could no longer close.
"Perhaps my claws are still too short..."
"...I am the bone of my sword."
As the dust and smoke slowly dissipated, David pulled his claws and wings from the cliff face. As he did, he slowly drew out four three-meter-long stone greatswords from the rock.
"Authority—Pride"
With a forceful flick of his claws, he grunted as he hefted them onto his shoulder. His bloodshot eyes, filled with excitement and madness, stared intently at her as if he were seeing a completely different world. He was still murmuring an ’incantation’ that no one else could understand:
"My body is made of steel, and my blood is of fire."
"My blood flows like iron, and my heart is of glass."
"I have forged over a thousand blades with my claws."
"Unbeaten across countless battlefields."
"Never understood by any dragon, yet that holds no meaning now."
"Therefore, as I pray—Unlimited Blade Works!"
At this moment, the entire valley, which belonged to the Green Dragon Territory, trembled as if in an earthquake, resonating with the incantation David chanted.
Dozens, even hundreds, of rock greatswords began to emerge slowly from behind him and from the cliffs surrounding the entire valley. They were of varying sizes and styles, yet all resembled the swords in David’s claws.
This unusual scene made even the female green dragon, who had seemed to have the upper hand with ease, feel her scales involuntarily bristle.
"Wait! I..." The female green dragon finally couldn’t keep her composure and tried to say something.
But David, caught up in his excitement as if he had found the most thrilling toy of his draconic life, roared:
"Swords, come!"
She watched as those dozens, even hundreds, of stone greatswords flew towards her from the cliff walls.
"AAH!!!"
The female green dragon let out a terrified scream, casting several enhancement spells like "Rapid Retreat," "Acceleration," and "Swiftness" on herself, and wildly raced around the valley.
Every path she took was bombarded by the huge stone swords. Like bolts from a ballista, they relentlessly smashed into the cliff walls, exploding with dull ROARS and scattering fragments of rock.
Each explosion carried at least the power of a third-tier spell, "Explosive Earth."
But the scale now was at least akin to dozens, or even hundreds, of such spells detonating simultaneously.
"Don’t run away!"
"EEK!!!"
The young female green dragon initially seemed to be an ’equal match,’ even appearing to steadily suppress David. Now, however, she was fluttering her wings in panic like a headless chicken. David, the red dragon, wielding four three-meter greatswords, chased her while pelting her with a frenzied barrage of stone weapons using ’Sculpture Magic.’
Lizrite, the red dragon, and the other Elves fortunate enough to witness this scene were utterly dumbfounded, their worldviews shattered.
At the same time, a question arose in their minds:
Was the divine blessing bestowed by the Chromatic Dragon Queen really that powerful?
If I convert my faith now... is it too late?
