Chapter 70: Chapter 70 - A visit to ’The club’ Part II

I didn’t turn, but I knew that he would be able to hear my heartbeats. I turned the knob, but it didn’t take me long to understand that this knob was here just to fool the people, and we couldn’t open the door from it... {shit, I am stuck}

"Need help, little kitten", I heard a husky voice near my ear. I gathered up my courage, plastered a fake smile on my face, and turned backwards.

"Yes, please. I wanted to go to the other side, but I think I am doing it wrong" I can see his eyes becoming a deep shade of red..... {He will be able to smell my fresh wound and blood} ... I can see that he is trying his best to stop his fangs from elongating.

"Listen, I know that my blood is extremely alluring for you, but right now, I am not in a healthy state to donate my blood to a vampire". As soon as I finished my sentence, he grabbed my neck and raised me from the ground. His eyes are now bloodshot red... {wrong choice of words, Aadhya}

"A hunter in a vampire’s club with sass are not the things that should come in a single sentence" I struggled in his hold, but it was extremely hard to get away from his grip, especially when my one hand was in the sling. Breathing is becoming hard for me second by second; black dots start dancing in front of my vision while I can hear the faint sound of someone coming toward us. His hold on my neck loosened, and I fell to the floor while coughing.

"Are you going nuts? We are not allowed to hurt any human here. If the boss knows about it, then he will surely kill you" I heard another voice which was also shrill and again of a vampire.

"She is a huntress. Can’t you smell silver on her?" The previous one argued, and on this, they both stopped talking and started looking at me while I was still coughing.

"We can’t decide what to do with her. Huntress or not, she is still a human. We need to report her to the boss," the second one said, and I took a relieved breath.

"Can’t you ask me if I was a huntress or not? Did you know that you just attempted to murder me?" I asked the vampire in irritation and got up from my place. "No matter what the species is, men are always dumb," I mumbled, and the second vampire looked amused instead of angry and irritated.

"I really hope that you have something that can interest our boss, or your sass is surely going to get you killed today" he looked at the grumpy vampire. "I am taking her to the boss, and I am not telling him that you have almost choked her to death" he then looked at me, "follow me and don’t cause any problems",... {as if I am here to cause problems. Geez, these men}

He went towards the closed door and swiped his card on a perfectly hidden spot... {they indeed are intelligent... placing a knob for fooling people} ... we entered a staircase from there. He gestured to me to climb the stairs while he followed me.

"Do you seriously think that I can do much damage to anyone with my broken arm and a huge wound?" I asked him and started climbing the stairs while they both were coming behind me. When we reached the first floor, there was a similar door that was on the ground floor. The grumpy vampire swiped his card and, with the last glare, towards me and went inside... {I could feel and smell many werewolves from inside}

"Come on, lady. We need to go on the second floor," I hummed and started climbing the stairs.

"I am guessing there are werewolves inside" I waited for his response. "I also spotted rogues there" he again didn’t say anything. We reached the second floor, and he again swiped his card. I was surprised to see that this floor is more like an office rather than a club.

"This floor is clearly impressive", I mumbled while the vampire rolled his eyes.

"Can you not make it so obvious that you are not afraid of us? We can kill you in seconds," he said while giving me a pointed look, and this time I rolled my eyes.

"Somebody save me. This big bad vampire will drink my whole blood," I shrieked near his ear, and he pushed me backwards because of my fake shrill voice. I took my left leg backwards and made my balance so that I didn’t receive another injury.

"Are you insane?" he shouted at me, and I smirked.

"Congrats, this time you hit the bull’s eye. Do you seriously think a sane man will come here in this condition even after knowing everything?" I asked casually and looked around. I am only able to spot a single girl beside us on this floor who is doing her work in a cabin with a glass door on it... {she is a human} I got confused, but before I asked that vampire about anything, I heard his voice.

"You are not human" I looked at him, who was looking at me with doubt now. "No human could have the strength to block and balance a vampire’s strength" he came in front of me and blocked my vision, because of which I was unable to see the girl anymore. "Who are you?" his eyes have turned red.

"I am Aadhya brown... and if you are asking about species, then sorry, I also don’t know. I have a few traits of humans and some of werewolves. Other than that, I also don’t know anything," I said to him truthfully, and he is looking very stressed now.

"Oh, hi, Austin. When did you come?" I heard the girl’s voice, and now from Austin’s expression, I knew that he was concerned about this girl’s safety... {he seriously thinks that I am going to hurt her} ... I raised my uninjured arm in surrender.

"I am not here to hurt anyone. If you are concerned about her safety, then you can take her out from here. I just needed some information from your boss. After that, I will be off from your club." I took a few steps backwards while the girl looked confused and concerned. Even though it is clear that she didn’t know anything we were talking about, I can see from her expressions that she believes Austin, and if he is treating me as a threat to her, then she believes his instincts.

"Go back to your cabin Maya and don’t come out until the boss arrives here," Austin said to her.

"But sir is already in his cabin". As soon as she said this, Austin pushed me towards a door and entered inside without even waiting for permission.

"I don’t remember when I gave you permission to enter" I heard a male voice that can make every girl’s heart beat faster... {not me, though} ... I looked at the man, he was dressed in a tailored suit, his hair was perfectly styled, he was clean shaved with a strong jawline, and had a lean but muscular body. He placed the papers he was studying on the side and looked at us. From the aura around him, I knew that he was a vampire and the strongest of all the vampires that I have met till now. Truth to be said, he has power somewhat matching Ryan... "Done checking me out?" he asked me while I could see a rude smirk plastered on his face.

"Yeah, lately I have been meeting many handsome jerks... seems like today is also the same" his smirk didn’t waivered on this. Instead, he looked at Austin... {damn these stupid kings and their confidence. I will literally slap away those cocky smirks from their faces}

"Care to explain why there is a human here with silver with her," he asked Austin, and I answered for him.

"I am here to gather some information, and the silver you are talking about is my knife. I need to take care of my safety when I am going between supernaturals with a broken arm." I reasoned.

"And a fresh wound", he added, and I nodded. "How can I help you?" he asked me directly.

"I work for the Alpha king Ryan. A few days ago, a waitress from your bar was arrested at ’knights’. Later she was found dead in her cell. I want to know whom she met the last day she was here on duty" he kept looking at me, but I didn’t react to anything.

"Have a seat," he said to me, and I did the said, "I will take care of her from here", he said to Austin, who nodded and exited the room, "so Ryan sent you here."

"No, I said I work for him. He didn’t send me here," I told him the truth, and he nodded.

"Do you know who I am? Do you seriously think that I would know about every employee?" he asked me with a stern expression, and I knew what he was trying to do... {I have seen this tough act of Ryan almost every day}

"You are the vampire king, and no, you would never know about every employee, but I am sure when Ryan told you about all this, you would surely have searched about her. I can’t ask him because he will never tell me the truth, so I am trying my best to get the information on my own. Maybe I can get some truth from you" he chuckled at this. Before he said something, we heard a soft knock, and he again became uptight. He tidied up his desk a little and sat straighter.

"Come in" Maya entered his office with many files in her hand. She struggles with the files, but he doesn’t get up to help her. Instead, he is looking at her every step cautiously... {Did all these strong people have to act like this in front of their love interests?} ... Finally, she placed the files on the table and looked at him with a smile.

"I have checked all these files, sir, few of them have errors which I have marked with red ink. Other than that, there are no issues in it" he nodded, and no matter how much he is trying to hide, he can’t hide everything from me. I can hear his quickened heartbeat from the time she entered the room... {it seems like the vampire king is in love with this human girl}

"Ok, I will again need you when I go through these files," he said to her, and she nodded "you can go now" she looked at me and then at vampire king.

"I have completed my work for today, sir. Can I go home?" she asked him a little hesitatingly. I could see him struggling to find some reason to stop her, so I helped him instead.

"Can you wait for a little while, Maya? Our meeting will not last very long, and he will not talk about business affairs in front of me" she looked at him and then at me while the vampire king looked a little embarrassed.

"Sure," she said timidly and went out of the room.

"What was that for?" he asked me while his ears were a little red now... {his fair complexion didn’t help much... Ryan’s long hair and beards always hide his blush from me...I am sure that he will look cute when he is embarrassed}

"I just helped you in getting some alone time with the girl you like. Now, I want the information," I told him, and he huffed.

"If you leaked any information about Maya to anyone, then I will kill you" I rolled my eyes at this.

"Yeah yeah... I know about this very well. Now, my information," I fanned my hand in dismissal, and he huffed.

"Every species is allowed in our club. Rita has not met anyone inside the club, but a few of my men have spotted her talking with a rogue a few kilometres away from the club. Although this information is of no use, we had already found the rogue’s dead body in the side alley even before Rita died. Other than this, we don’t have any information" I nodded and got up from the chair.

"Don’t let her go alone to her home at this late hour. Thanks for the information". I walked out of the club without any hindrance and took a deep breath after it... {I was positive that from here, I would surely find some clue to find that Greyson}...I booked a cab which dropped me at the nearest town near the crescent moon, and from there, I went into the woods and entered the crescent moon pack. I was walking towards the house when I found Ryan coming towards me in shorts. I looked at his leg, which was bandaged now, and as I couldn’t smell silver on his body, I knew that he would be fine by tomorrow morning.

"What are you doing here?" I asked him, and he rubbed the back of his neck, but suddenly his eyes started flickering between king’s and his. He came near me and placed one hand on the right side of my face and another on the left shoulder. Instantly the intensity of mate tingles hit me like a rock, and I lost my balance, but he encircled his right arm around my waist while his left hand was now on my neck... {What is happening? I can’t tear my eyes away from him...}
