Chapter 68: Chapter 68 - One way route

"Then what did they want from the blue moon pack?" She took a deep breath.

"I know a little about it and even have a wild guess... but my guess is so disturbing that I am hoping it to be just a guess and have nothing to do with reality". I didn’t disturb her in between, and she continued, "We don’t think much about our family, friends or pack bonds, but we should not take them lightly. The absence of all these bonds makes rogues more dangerous and feral. A werewolf is so strong that if this much power is given to someone who doesn’t have proper control of his mind, then the results will be lethal for the weaker species."

"For a long time, children all over the world have been disappearing. I don’t know who is doing this or why, but I think he is kidnapping the children at a very early age so he can make them stronger and feral than the normal rogues from childhood. When those kids transform into wolves, they will not have their parents with them, leading to their growing up without any bond. In the end, they will never be able to feel the bonds and turn into killing machines."

"What made you think like this, gramma?" I can’t help but feel nauseous.

"There had been many instances before when rogues tried to group each other to attack and target a pack, but they never succeeded... but the attack on blue moon pack, the death of Amara, tells a new story now. I was searching for the pack of wolves, vampires, and witches when Amara, along with the most notorious witches and warlocks, took control of my body from me. Even after trying my best, I was only able to set her on fire, but obviously, I am not the god... I am meant to be defeated that day. I also have doubts that not only the werewolf children but also the children of vampires, witches, and warlocks are also disappearing.’’... {Now I am getting confused. Is someone making an army of all species? And if yes, then to defeat whom? If someone uses all the species, he is decreasing his chances of winning over whatever he wants because all three species will be his enemy. No matter how many rogues he collects or how many children he trains, he would never be able to even have a one percent chance of winning against the whole werewolf, vampires, and witches world}

"Gramma, I want you to tell me everything that you know about all this" as soon as I said this, she stopped caressing my hair, and when I looked at her, she had a disappointing frown on her forehead.

"You are staying away from all this. Even though I got my consciousness an hour ago, it doesn’t mean that I had not known about your stunts" I was about to argue when she took my hand in her hand and harshly pressed the cut that I gave myself in the meeting with Wilson. "I am not a superhero and not proud of whatever I have done till now" I looked at her in confusion while trying to hide the pain because my hand was throbbing now. "I am the reason for the death of my parents, Rose, Daniel.. even the unborn child of rose also. I burned my twin sister. I killed her mate with my own hands" she was reading my expressions, and even after knowing this, I was unable to hide the shock written on my face.

"You can’t even imagine the pain, guilt, and self-loathing I feel every time I get my consciousness after losing someone dear to me. No matter how much pain I get, I have come so far in this way that I don’t have the option to turn back now. This is a one-way route. Once you start walking, there is no turning back...... I wanted you to stay here in the pack and not to pry in my matters because me being here is already a threat to your life" she stopped and got up from the bed. "I think that your morning training is going to get started in thirty minutes now. So, enjoy your training. I am going to enjoy some fresh air now."

"When you chose the way, did somebody stop you?" I asked her, and she stopped. "If you don’t want to tell me anything, then it’s fine. You can also advise me from your experience... but you can’t stop me from doing something I want to do." I know I am being harsh, but everyone needs to understand that I am not backing away this time.

"Even if they will kill Dee to get back to you? Even if they will kill Ryan, Matt, Layla, or every pack member that is dear to you," she asked me, and I looked into her eyes.

"Do you seriously think that they will let me stay in peace if I do not interfere in their matters?" I asked her, and for a few minutes, she didn’t say anything but kept looking at me in worry and, after that, went out of the room. I also got up, went to my room, and changed for the training. I went to Amara’s room and looked around to find anything I could, but a little later, I gave up and went to the training ground.

Mia was already waiting for me on the ground, and as soon as I went there, she looked at me hesitantly. "Are you sure about Lily?" she whispered to me, and I could see clearly on her face that she was concerned about her.

"I am not sure that’s why I am here." She didn’t say anything after that, and after five more minutes, the training ground was filled with people. Mia came forward and informed them that they were training in their wolf forms today, so all of them transformed into their wolf forms after discarding their clothes behind bushes. She told them all to make a pair of two and start combating each other while she transformed into her wolf and gestured to me to follow her. She took me towards a grey wolf, and I knew she was lily from her scent.

Everyone started combating, and for a few minutes, I was only able to hear growls, barks, and howls around me. I am closely observing lily’s wolf, and it didn’t take me long to learn a few things about her wolf, which only made me suspicious of her more. I didn’t say anything then because I knew this would escalate the matter. So, I let them practice and started roaming all over the training ground to spot a wolf with golden eyes, but I didn’t find anyone like that, which worried me more... {if there was no breach and no one in the pack had golden eyes then it surely can’t be taken for granted. Is it possible for someone to enter the pack without getting caught?} ... I was waiting for them to complete their training when I got Ryan’s call... {it seems like he got my resignation letter}

I ignored his call, and after a minute, I got his email reply on my resignation ’we are going to talk about this in detail’. I rolled my eyes at his response... {as if the discussion would change my decision}. I messaged Mia to inform Lily to meet me at Ryan’s home after training and went to the place where I spotted the golden-eyed wolf last night. But what shocked me is that... the paw prints that were here yesterday were not here; even the footprints of Matt and mine are also gone... {Why am I not getting any good feeling from all this? Am I just being paranoid?} ... After searching for a few more minutes, I returned to the house and sat on the couch... {someone surely did go there after we left}

I was so immersed in my deep thoughts that I didn’t even notice when Ben came and sat beside me. I only sensed his presence when he put his hand on my shoulder. "Are you alright?" he asked me, and he was clearly looking concerned.

"Yeah", he is dressed in his official clothes, "you are going to the office this early in the morning" he nodded at this.

"There is something I need to deal with... But I will be back in two or three hours. After that, we will try to do some search on the issue of the person who entered our home yesterday. So, don’t overthink it. We are in it together" he patted my head and smiled at me. Then he got up from his place and walked towards the door, "and yes, Shira has gone to roam here and there in the pack’’ with this, he went out of the house while closing the door behind him and I rolled my eyes... {no matter how concerned I get or how much I try to stop her, she is never going to listen to me}. I just dropped her a message to be safe and call me if she faces any problems and then waited for almost half an hour for Lily.

She rang the doorbell, and I opened the door for her "Mia told me that I was called here. Where is Uncle Ben?" she came inside and directly went to the kitchen as if she owned the place. She even opened the fridge and took a water bottle from it. "Is he in his room?" She walked out of the kitchen and turned towards the stairs, but I stopped her by blocking her way. She cocked an eyebrow to question me, but I didn’t let her see my irritation.

"I called you lily. So, if you had enough water, can we please talk?" she blinked her eyes once, then twice and finally, confused expressions appeared on her face, but these changed into irritation in seconds.

"Who the hell do you think you are to order me around?" I took a deep breath ... {fine, let’s do it this way then}

"Why did you enter Amara’s room twice without permission?" For a couple of seconds, her confident attitude waivered, her heartbeats escalated, and the bottle that was in her hand fell on the floor, but she recovered very quickly and narrowed her eyes at me.

"Ryan is letting you live in his home; it doesn’t mean that this house belongs to you. Stop prying in matters that are not concerned with you" she didn’t decline that she didn’t come.

"You entered my gramma’s room when she was not conscious. Didn’t you think this is enough to make me pry in this matter?" suddenly, her expression turned darker as if some spirit possessed her in seconds. Before I even said anything, she grabbed me by the throat and pressed my body into the wall behind me. I tried to loosen her grip on my throat, but her grip was extremely strong. I took the bun stick from my hair, removed its cap to reveal the silver knife, and sliced her hand. This caused her to remove her hands from my throat and back up while growling and hissing at me while I struggled hard to control my heartbeats and breathing.

"You bitch" she shouted, but before she lunged at me, I jumped on her with both my legs on either side of her torso and pressed the knife into her throat {just enough to let her feel the silver pressed on her neck} ... She shrieked in pain because the silver burned her skin.

I was not able to understand what happened because everything happened so fast, but I felt myself being pushed away from lily so hard that I flew and crashed into the wall behind me and instantly felt the pain in my right shoulder and ribs while the knife fell from my hand.
