Chapter 38: Chapter 38 - I like bellatrix more

I looked at her and found her looking at those werewolves nervously. She tugged the hem of my shirt while her eyes were still trained on others.

"Help..." she whispered timidly... {Why is she so cute, man?}

"Acknowledge them", I whisper back. She nodded and smiled nervously at them... {We shall cheer for her}.. For god’s sake shut your mouth king, you are giving me a headache.

"Thank you, umm... you did a great job," she said to them, and they bowed. One of them came towards us.

"Everyone is gathered in the conference room," he said, and she nodded.

"Let’s finish this up," she said to me, and I nodded. We went towards the conference room, and as soon as we entered the room, everyone turned their gazes at us. I can feel the anxiety, fear, and confusion of the werewolves... {Aadhya is also nervous. Keep checking on her from time to time} ... I nodded at the king’s concern.

"What do you think?" I asked her.

"You can send all the males and werewolves out of this room," she said to me while her eyes roamed all over the conference room.

"Are you sure that she is not a wolf?" I asked her, and she nodded.

"Had she been a wolf, she would have heard my breathing" ... {she did have brains}. I can’t help but feel proud of her.

"All the males can go outside and continue their work", my voice boomed in the conference hall, and within minutes all the females were standing in front of us. "You can take charge from here. I am not sending the she-wolves outside as this will look discriminating to the humans," I whispered, and she nodded. She went towards the females and, one by one started looking at them. She clearly skipped the wolves and kept doing whatever she wanted to do... {what is she doing?... sniffing? Analysing their reactions?} ... Suddenly, she stopped in front of a woman and raised an eyebrow. "I think I found the culprit," she said to me and gave me a dazzling smile.

"Are you.."

"Please forg..." that woman and I both stopped mid-sentence, and her eyes got wide in the realisation that she actually accepted her crime when she still had a chance to escape this situation.

"I am sure, " Aadhya answered my incomplete question with a smug look. I should have rolled my eyes, but I must keep my stern facade, especially in front of the she-wolves. I gave Aadhya a stern look and raised an eyebrow... {I can’t let my employees think that they can be sarcastic with me... they need to know where there is a line... I am hoping she will not be mad at me after this}.

"You did a good job, Aadhya, but don’t forget that I am your boss," I said to her with full power, and from others’ expressions, I knew that they all felt my power. I turned my gaze towards the crying woman and then at aadhya.... {dude, I seriously don’t like her stoic face} ... "I want both of you in my office", I ordered them and turned towards the elevators... {I think that giving her a job with me in my office is not a very wise decision of mine, especially when I am friendly with her from the beginning."}

"Sure, sir" I heard Aadhya’s voice and heard two pairs of footsteps following me. I wanted to turn and look at her expressions or just to ask and explain to her that I had to do that... but I stopped myself. {you do know that this time it’s you who is overthinking and not me.}

I entered my office and took my seat. I didn’t look at any of their faces. Instead, I took the file that was on my table and started reading its contents. I can feel the human girl’s nervousness, but I can’t feel any kind of emotion from Aadhya’s side.

I placed the file on the side and looked at them. As expected, the human girl was crying and visibly shivering, while Aadhya’s expressions were blank and stoic... {I think I saw these expressions last time when we were in the blue moon pack, and she was talking with Ethan... dude are you sure that we are not fucking up our chance with her to maintain our reputation?}

"Any explanation?" I asked the crying girl.

"Or some excuse?" Aadhya added in my sentence, and I gave her a pointed look. I can’t let my emotions lead me to make any decision when it comes to the safety of my pack or my employees... {even if it is about our mate?}.., Yes, even if it is about our mate.

"I don’t like to repeat myself, Aadhya. Don’t forget that I am your boss" this time, I already knew that my words and tone were extremely rude.

"I am not forgetting anything, sir, but when I threw myself in front of those bullets, I believe that I gave myself the right to question this woman," she said in a straight but hard tone. I can feel the power radiating from her body. She closed her eyes for a second, and suddenly all the energy that I was feeling from her body vanished. "I am sorry, sir. Can I wait outside till you handle this matter?" she asked me calmly, and I was extremely confused by the sudden change in her attitude.

"Fine," I said to her, and as soon as I said this, she just went out of the room without even looking at me...... {that’s it, she is undoubtedly mad at us. You fucked up, and I also have to face the consequences because of you.}

"Now, you have three minutes to explain yourself", she started sobbing harder on this "you are just wasting the only opportunity by your sobbing. The cops are already on their way."

"No, please, I don’t have any option. I wanted money to pay for my son’s operation. He is in critical condition." she sobbed harder... {this doesn’t justify her actions}

"Who told you to do this? Where did you meet that person, and what did you know about him? I want every information."

"I don’t know who he is. His face is covered. I met him in a club where I work as a waitress. He already knew about my son’s condition and offered me money. He told me that he would make all the arrangements, and I just needed to come here today and give him all the updates about that old man. I found the company’s pass, uniform, and other things at my doorstep today morning." I observed her closely, and I didn’t think that she was lying.

"How did he pay you the money?"

"He paid me half the amount in cash and told me that another half I will get after the work is done in the women’s washroom of knights" {someone from the inside is also involved in this matter}

"The same washroom in which Aadhya heard you?" I asked her, and she nodded.

"May I come in, alpha?" Garry mind-linked me and entered the office with Aadhya with my permission.

"Cops are here" as soon as he said this, the woman started shaking in fear and started sobbing harder.

"I told you everything. Please let me go. I am not a bad person. My son needed this. No mother can see her child die. I can’t let him die," she said in desperation.

"You can’t see your son dying, so you thought that this gives you the right to kill someone?" Aadhya asked her directly, and I could clearly see that she was not in a pleasant mood... {oh, I wonder what the reason behind her sour mood is? Ahh, yes... The stupid human Ryan Knight} ... I rolled my eyes at king’s sarcastic comment.

"I am very sorry, but things don’t work like this, honey. Three people got shot, one is injured, you are going to jail, and who knows who else is hurt by your actions... and yes, about your son" she went towards the lady, put her hand on the lady’s shoulder and looked in her eyes. "I don’t think he will be alright even after his operation because sadly, his mom will not be with him to take care of him anymore" she turned her back towards her and looked me directly in the eye but didn’t say anything.

"Shall I take her to the cops’ sir?" Garry asked me, and I nodded.

"No, please, I didn’t get the money till now. I have to pay for my child’s operation." she again pleaded.

"Just give your son’s details to Garry. I am not going to let you go for this crime, but I will take care of your child’s operation" as soon as I said that, the lady stopped sobbing and looked at me as if I had grown two heads. "Garry hand her over to the cops" I didn’t have to repeat myself as the lady went outside, and Garry followed her "we are going home," I said to Aadhya, and she nodded. I mind-linked my employees to keep an eye on that specific women’s washroom.

From the time I talked with Aadhya like I used to talk with everyone, king is continuously whining in my head to talk to her and say sorry as she has not said anything to me except single word answers to my questions.... {and people say girls are hard to understand... dude it’s you who talked with her rudely. Now it’s you who has to take the initiative to talk with her, and if needed, you will apologise to her also} ...

Right now, Aadhya is driving toward our home... {yeah... OUR..} .. and I am thinking of any excuse to talk with her... {you better do it soon, or I will take control from you.}

"Umm... you did good work today," I said to her... {good going, dude, I have heard many times that girls like compliments}

"Thank you, sir."

"Well, except that hospital part"{I thought we were following compliment strategy, man}

"I am sorry for that."

"And you are not forgetting that coffee accident, are you? ".. {I surrender. You are hopeless.}

"I am sorry for that also, sir."

"You do know that I need to behave in a specific way in front of my employees, don’t you?" I asked her nervously; on this, King stopped his stupid comments and looked at her with hope.

"Yes, sir" now, I don’t know what to say.

"Why are you talking like that? ".. {don’t lose your shit on her.}

"Like what, sir."

"You know that what I am trying to say, Aadhya, don’t fool around."

"Watch your tone, sir. I am your employee" this got me dumbstruck.

"Excuse me" I couldn’t help saying this, but suddenly she stopped glaring at the road in front and laughed lightly.

"It is so easy to rile you up," she said, smiling while her eyes were still trained on the road.

"You are doing this all purposely," I asked her, and she nodded while smiling.

"Do you seriously think that I would be mad at you for behaving like a boss when you actually are my boss in reality?" That constant smile on her face is melting king’s and mine hearts for sure... {we both share the same heart, and she has already melted mine when I found out the first time that she is my mate.}

"We both were scared when I was being rude to you", I confessed, and she laughed heartily.

"Well, tell king on my behalf that I can’t be mad at him" this made king so happy that he howled in the joy, which made her laugh again "but you, Mr. Knight, you are so rude with your employees, the pack members that you made me think twice whether I wanted to work for you or not"... {seems like you are in trouble Ryan} ... I didn’t say anything about this because I have my reasons for being like this, and I don’t think she will understand this.

"It’s alright, Ryan. You are my friend, and I don’t believe in judging people, but I will tell the truth... When you said, ’ don’t forget I am your boss’, I remembered Ethan’s comment that he always told me... ’I AM YOUR ALPHA’" she tried to mimic him, but it didn’t make me laugh. "This made me want to kick your beautiful face, but I know how to calm myself." She stopped the car, and that’s when I realised that we had reached our home. She got out of the car and opened the door for me.

"But it’s alright, every boss is an asshole to his employees, but I am glad that I have a friend with whom I can curse my boss as much as I want" she extended her hand towards me. I took her hand and came out of the car.

"I didn’t know that being your friend meant listening to bad things about me from you even after office hours," I said to her playfully, and she smirked.

"You should have thought this earlier ... FRIEND", she mocked.

"You should have told me this earlier, FRIEND," I said to her in the same tone as hers, and she threw the car’s keys towards me.

"Well, I like to give surprises" suddenly, she made an innocent face and dramatically put her hands on her heart. "Are you going to dump my friendship because I gave you a surprise? "..{aww, she is cute even with bad acting}.

"Did I tell you that you are a terrible actor?" I went towards the home and heard her small steps following me.

AADHYA’S POV -

"Why do you think a beautiful and awesome woman like me agreed to be your assistant then? Obviously, I am not a good actor, or I would be acting right now in some movie with Chris Hemsworth and not walking with you to your home" suddenly, he stopped, and I bumped into him... {Did I made him mad?}

"Owww", I rubbed my nose and glared at his back.

"Are you planning to make me look like Voldemort, Ryan?" I shouted at him, and he turned towards me with an annoyed expression, making me glare at him harder.

"No, I like Bellatrix more" Seriously couldn’t he come up with a more meaningful reply?
