Chapter 31: Chapter 31 - Truth
"That’s my theory. As far as I know, Amara believes that I died two years ago in the attack that she had planned. So, I don’t think she has any reason to target Aadhya," she concluded, and this made me worry more. None of us said anything for a few minutes as all three of us were tangled in our thoughts, but finally, Aadhya broke the silence.
"I need to ask you something, gramma" Shira looked at her and nodded "what is my age?" as soon as Aadhya asked this, I saw shock clouding Shira’s eyes, but she covered it within a second, "Amara told us that you cured Ryan and me, but how can you treat both of us at the same time, we have a seven-year age difference in us."
Shira looked startled for a few minutes, but soon she took a shaky breath and turned her chair completely towards Aadhya. "I am not going to lie this time, Aadhya. You deserve to know the truth" she closed her eyes and continued, "After curing Ryan and spending time with Amara, I felt that something was wrong with her, but I was unable to point out the difference at that time, but when the crescent moon was attacked, I found it fishy. Vampires and a certain group of rogues have been trying to trace me for over a year, but I never understood how they suddenly traced me out of the blue. I shifted to India after that attack and kept that a secret. I knew that I was being traced, and everyone coming in contact with me would also be in danger, so I cut all ties with Amara, Rose, and mom dad. I didn’t even come back when mom and dad died."
"One day, I was wandering in the woods when I felt the presence of another werewolf. I traced the werewolf because it was uncommon for a werewolf to be in that area, as there was no pack within a huge radius of that place. He didn’t smell like a rogue, so I wanted to know more about it. I traced him but stayed in hiding, and as I used my herbs, he could not smell or detect me. He was holding a badly bruised dead body of a little girl in his jaws. I was so enraged, but I wanted to know what he was trying to do. He wandered for some time, and when he reached the densest part of the woods, he dug the ground and buried the child there. I thought that he would run after that, but instead, he changed into his human form and caressed the ground, and said, ’finally, after two years, you found your peace’ after it, he again transformed into his wolf form and ran away from there" her eyes were still closed, but tears are rolling from her eyes to the cloth that she is still wearing over her face.
"I don’t know why I did that, but I dug the ground again and took that child with me to my house. I checked thoroughly, and finally, after giving some herbs, she took a little breath" when she said ’she,’ I couldn’t stop myself from looking at Aadhya, who is sitting like a robot there. "I knew that I had to do something. Without any second thoughts, my wolf and I agreed on this that no matter what we had to do but we would surely save the little girl" she finally opened her eyes and looked at Aadhya.
"I sacrificed my wolf to save you, but still, it was not enough. Your life was still in danger. I don’t know what that wolf has done with you, but your internal body was way more damaged than your outer body. I needed more help, I never taught Rose any witchcraft, but my dad taught her behind my back. I knew this, so I called her, and that’s when she informed me that she was pregnant and I was going to be a grandmother. When I told her about you, without thinking once, she agreed to come to help me."
"She was five months pregnant with her first child at that time, but fate had other plans," she said and sobbed "on the first day of her stay at my place, she slipped from stairs, and her water broke. She gave birth to a stillborn child. I tried to save him, but I was unable to do anything. That’s when Rose and I decided we would do everything in our hands to save the little girl we had. I told her that Amara could help us in saving your life. I also told her about my doubts about Amara, but Rose insisted that saving you was more important than hiding that time. So finally, I called her and introduced you as Rose’s child. It is not hard to believe because rather than looking like a two-year-old, your body looked like a newborn child... I wondered whether that werewolf said that you being two years is wrong, but the scars that your body has been surely older, so I accepted that you were two years old then."
"Amara was always jealous of me because despite us having alpha wolves, mine was stronger than hers. When I told her that I sacrificed my wolf to save you, the very reason for me being superior vanished from her brain, and she helped me with all her might. At last, we succeeded in saving your life. We don’t know who tried to kill you in the first place, and introducing you to the werewolf world seems like a threat to your life. So, rose decided that you would stay with me to keep you safe while we told Amara that you would be staying with me because of your health condition" she stopped and looked at Aadhya, who was still sitting there with a blank face... {I am seriously worried about her now} ...
"When you were seven and a half, a few witches came to me and asked for my help. At first, I declined, but when they elaborated on the matter, I knew that I had to help them, so Rose took you with her. For two years, I went to many places with them, and at last, I finally got the information that Amara is associated with vampires and a few dangerous rogues. I helped others in failing her many plans."
"When Amara found out that I am the one who was spoiling her plans, she launched a hunt for me, but when she failed in finding me, she sent vampires to the blue moon for my family members. That was the attack in which Rose and Daniel died protecting you. At that time, Ryan got the crown and took the place of the alpha king. He was fiercer and more intelligent than the previous king. He made alliances with vampires, witches, humans, and even hunters. Every pack’s security became very tight and after that, attacking you became harder for Amara. Two years ago, she found out about my whereabouts and launched a lethal attack on me. The cloven in which I was staying faced the attack, but I didn’t want them to suffer because of me, so I fled from there, but my luck was not with me that day. They traced me, and instead of killing me, they set me on fire... maybe they wanted to give me a slow and painful death" as soon as she said this, a gasp left Aadhya’s lips, and she trembled.
"I don’t know how but a few members of another cloven found me and treated me. I was in a coma for four months, but my body healed eventually. So, right now, I know very clearly that Amara thinks I am already dead, so she doesn’t have any reason to target aadhya... I think that the people who tortured Aadhya when she was a child have spotted her once again," she concluded ... {I will rip everyone’s throat which will even try to come near our mate} ... king growled, and I agreed with him... "say something munchkin, don’t shut yourself" she told Aadhya softly and extended her hand towards her, but as soon the black cloth slipped from Shira’s hand, Aadhya shuddered. Her hand is completely disfigured with different patches of skin. Shira again hid her hand in the fabric and averted her gaze downwards.
"Rem- remove that cl-lothh from your face gr-a-mma" Aadhya said while trembling. Shira looked at her for a few seconds and then nodded.
"Don’t scream," she warned us and instantly removed the cloth that was covering her burnt face a few seconds ago. Although her face was healed still, her face was completely disfigured with red patches of skin in a few places. Her lower lip is half fine, but the other half is blended into the skin. The same goes with her upper lip, her nose is of some weird shape, and there is nothing in place of eyebrows. There is not a single hair on her head, and even the burning scars can be easily seen. I kept my face neutral, but suddenly Aadhya, along with the chair, fell to the ground. I came out of my thoughts and went to her instantly. I wanted to hold her in my arms, but I didn’t know whether she liked being touched by me, so I extended my hand to her, but she did nothing. She just kept looking at Shira, who was calmly sitting on her chair.
Finally, I bent and encircled one arm around her waist while my other arm was on her shoulder and pulled her into a standing position. The warmth from her skin did help in easing tension in my brain, and I am desperately hoping that she will feel the same because I clearly know how she must be feeling right now. As soon as I removed my hands from her waist, she again stumbled, but before she fell to the floor, I again took hold of her.
"Aadhya," I tried to turn her attention towards me, but she didn’t react. Her eyes were only fixed on the lady that was sitting on the chair. "Aadhya, look at me," I told her softly, but still she didn’t say anything but, without blinking, kept looking at Shira.
"I should cover myself up," Shira said in a timid voice, and that’s when something snapped inside Aadhya. She slowly started walking toward Aadhya, and I let her go but stayed behind her to support her if she needed it. She extended her hand and took hold of Shira’s hand in which she had that black cloth. She took that cloth from her, placed the fabric on the desk, and cupped Shira’s cheeks softly.
"Does it still hurt gramma?" she said in a shaken voice. Shira leaned on her touch and shook her head while caressing Aadhya’s cheek with her disfigured hand.
"Not anymore, munchkin," she said softly, and Aadhya kissed both her cheeks and forehead. "I missed you" as soon as she said this, Aadhya hugged her, and suddenly, I felt waves of energy coming from Aadhya’s body.
"I promise, gramma... I will make sure that each and every one will pay for their deeds. I promise you that," she whispered near Shira’s almost non-existing ear. Then she softly came out of her embrace and looked me in the eyes.
"Alpha, I know you are already doing many things for me, but can you please take my gramma under your protection?" she asked me, and I could see desperation evident in her eyes, desperation to save her loved ones.
"Both of you are staying in my home until this problem is solved," I told her.
"You are an unmated wolf," Shira said in between, "if Aadhya stays here, then the council will surely question you."... {I don’t think this is the right to think about mated and unmated}
"No council can stop me from staying in my house with my mate," I said to her while looking Aadhya in the eyes, but today her eyes gave nothing away.
"What..." before Shira asked something, Aadhya turned towards her.
"I am his mate, gramma, and we have to go somewhere. You can use the kitchen if you want to eat anything, and I will tell Layla to come and give you company," she said to her, and hearing her taking charge of my house gave me a calm feeling.
"I have four rooms downstairs, in which three are empty. You can take any room you like," I told her, and she was still shocked at the revelation... {Us being mated to each other is not that shocking.} ... I mind-linked Layla to come and take care of Shira while Aadhya was telling something to her... I have also told her about Shira’s condition. "I mind-linked Layla. She will be here in a few minutes" I smiled at Shira, but she was still looking shocked.
"We will be back soon, gramma" Aadhya kissed her, and we came out of the house. She took a deep breath and looked me in the eyes.
I took a deep breath and nodded. "I hope that you will not hate our dungeons," I said to her, and both of us sat in the car.... {no one can stay in peace after messing with my mate or her family... they have to pay, and I will make sure of that}
