Chapter 30: Chapter 30 - How many enemies do I have?
Ryan’s POV -
"But..." before she asked me more, I dragged her out of the house and started walking towards the woods.
"Have you ridden the wolf earlier?" I asked her, and when she didn’t reply, I looked at her and found her nodding her head... "damn woman, use words." {Oh, come on, she is cute, dude}
"Yeah," she told me, but suddenly the feeling of jealousy surged in me... {who had she ridden before?} ... I took deep breaths to calm myself, and as soon as we reached the edge of the woods, I turned toward her.
"Well, we are in a hurry now, but you are going to tell me in detail which wolf you have ridden earlier," I said to her in a calm yet threatening voice, and she nodded casually... {she seriously needs to get scared of me.... at least a little} ... I transformed into my wolf ’king’ and looked at her.
"I know you are wealthy and all, but there is no need to tear your expensive clothes like that," she scolded the king, and he rolled his eyes... {she seriously has bad timing} ... he gestured for her to sit, and she came near him without complaining. He bent a little so that she could climb on him easily. She grabbed his hair but not enough to hurt. "You have to forgive me if I pull your hair," she said, pulling herself above him. When she was seated, the king stood at his full height. "Woah," she said and immediately encircled her arms around his neck "you are way taller than lia and milo," she whispered, and both of us felt proud, but again ’king’ remembered the urgency and started running.
As soon as he started, she shrieked and grabbed him tighter "damn, you are faster than them," she shouted, and the king continued running. When we were a little away from the borders, he stopped and waited for her to get down, but she was still clinging to his neck. Though we both are more than content in this situation, we can’t forget the issue at hand.... {come on, dude; we have crucial matters to take care of} ... I told him, and he turned his head a little and nudged her unwillingly. As soon as she opened her eyes a cute shade of pink covered her cheeks and she got down, but as soon as her feet touched the ground, she stumbled but before she fell ’king’ came behind her and she fell on him instead.
After a few seconds, she again got up, but this time luckily, she didn’t stumble, so the king walked behind a tree, and I took control from him. I took the clothes that were on the tree and wore them. Usually, only shorts are enough, but I don’t want to make her uncomfortable, so I wore a T-shirt for her sake. As soon as I walked toward her, she opened her pretty mouth.
"You should know that normally I don’t get scared easily, but your wolf is insanely fast," she told me grumpily, and king puffed his chest proudly.
"I am not saying anything, and I already know that king is fast," I told her, and a cute frown came on her face, clearly showing her confusion... "King is my wolf’s name," I explained, and she nodded and smiled. "Why are you smiling?" I asked her while walking towards the borders. She ran behind me and again smiled, looking at me.
"Your wolf is fluffy and cute and the most beautiful wolf I have ever seen," she said, and this shocked me, but that’s not the first time that she has complimented me so clearly. Only last night she called me drool-worthy... {well, this time she is complimenting me} ... my wolf said smugly, and I rolled my eyes at him.
"He is saying thank you, but still, he prefers to be called wild and dangerous than fluffy and cute," I told her, and she chuckled.
"Then tell him that he is wildly fluffy and cutely dangerous," she said innocently, and I couldn’t stop myself from laughing... {Why is she so cute?}
"Sure, but right now, let’s meet your grandma," I told her, and suddenly she became nervous as if she had forgotten where we were going but didn’t say anything. I walked towards the borders and released my aura to let my warriors know that I am coming. When we reached the pack borders, I found my warriors circling a petite figure covered in a black robe from head to toe, and only her eyes were visible. As soon as we reached there, Ellon came toward me.
"Alpha, she is claiming that she is Shira, and she needs to meet Aadhya," Ellon said to me, and I looked at the figure who was directly looking at Aadhya. To say that I didn’t like it is an understatement. I came in front of Aadhya as I was sure my huge body would hide her behind me. The robed woman took threatening steps toward me as soon as I did this, but my warriors stopped her.
"Do you think you can fight with me?" I asked her while I felt Aadhya getting uneasy behind me.
"Kids these days," I heard a silent mutter from the robed lady, and she shook her head. Before I said anything, Aadhya ran towards the figure with lightning speed dodging my warriors, and hugged the petite figure tightly. I ran behind her to stop, but I stopped dead in my tracks as soon I heard her sobs. I have seen her wounded, I have seen her leaving her pack, her ex-mate, but never once did I see the sadness on her face, but now she is sobbing.
"Yeah, young lady... that’s what I am here for, right... to soothe you... first, you indulge in the fight with those stronger than you, then you directly go to Amara’s place where you were least secure, and then now you will cry, and I will soothe you right... Why? Because I am your gramma, and I can’t even shout at you for being too foolish" I got shocked when I heard the soft voice of Shira. She was scolding and taunting Aadhya but still caressing her back to soothe her. When Aadhya didn’t say anything to her for a few minutes and continued sobbing, she removed Aadhya’s hands from her body and took a step backward. Aadhya was about to go and hug her again, but Shira raised her hand and stopped her in mid "I will surely hear your sobs later but first I have to deal with some very important matters," she said to her, and this undoubtedly triggered Aadhya.
"You met me after twelve years, but what you have to do... you have to deal with other important matters, right... You know, oldie, I will not forgive you this time. I am not going to cry on your shoulder, I am not going to tell you anything that happened in my life in those years, and I am surely not letting you meet any of my loved ones, and no matter how much dee, Layla or matt request me to meet you I will tell them that you are an arrogant and cocky and stupid and stubborn" she stomped and Shira took a deep breath dramatically... {ookkk..}
"Are they all doing good?" Shira asked her, and no matter how many tantrums Aadhya was throwing at her, she hummed in response "words, young lady," she said to her pointedly.
"Yeah, they are all doing good," Aadhya replied like a five-year-old whose wish of eating chocolate has been harshly declined.
I was stunned by their little meeting, but I had to take matters into my hand from here as I already knew Shira was no saint and could truly hurt someone very badly. I slowly walked toward Aadhya, and though I was getting the feeling that Shira would not hurt Aadhya, I stood between them so that they could only look at each other but not touch.
"What are you doing in my territory?" I asked her with full authority, and she bowed a little which I replied with a nod.
"I don’t have an option than to show up here when Amara is so close to Aadhya," she told me with respect but sternly. "I have many questions to ask" she was about to say more, but Aadhya cut her off.
"And many answers to give," Aadhya added grumpily, and Shira rolled her eyes but nodded later...
"Yeah yeah.. many answers to give. So how about we will go somewhere private" she told me as her eyes slowly turned towards my warriors.
"Aadhya, are you sure that she is Shira?" I asked Aadhya without removing my gaze from Shira.
"I don’t think another old lady can match the craziness of my gramma," she told me grumpily, and Shira’s eyes softened on this.
"How about you just remove this cloth from your face so I can confirm that you are Shira?" I told her, and this time her eyes didn’t show anything.
"Fine, but she will not look at my face." As soon as she said this, I saw a glimpse of vulnerability in her eyes for a second, but then she masked it. I was about to ask her, but Aadhya cut me off.
"She is my gramma alpha, I guarantee you," I heard Aadhya’s voice and looked at her. "You can treat her as my guest. I will be accountable for all her actions," she said confidently to me, and I couldn’t help but believe in her. Then she went towards Shira and smiled at her... "let’s go, oldie, I seriously need to spend time with you," she told her happily, and Shira walked with her in front of me while mumbling ’I am not that old till now.’
"I think you will want to go back to my office with her," I asked Aadhya, and she nodded without thinking twice. "Fine, Ellon, inform Layla that I will be driving the car, and I don’t want anyone other than Shira and Aadhya in that car with me. No need to disturb other things; no one should know that Shira entered our pack. I don’t want anyone in my house until she is there, so reschedule all the meetings in the office" then I looked at Shira, whose eyes were fixed on me. I gestured to both of them to come behind me, and they complied.
I went towards the driver’s seat, and when I saw Aadhya going to the back seat with Shira, I stopped her "you are sitting with me in front," I told her. She opened her mouth to argue, but I cut her in between, "and you are not arguing with me in this matter. I believed you with Shira without doubt, and you will also do the same now" as soon as I said this, she pouted but finally complied and sat on the passenger seat "seat belt Aadhya" she huffed and fastened her seat belt "that’s like a good girl" she glared at me while I chuckled and started driving.
----------------------------------------------
We are now sitting in my study, and Aadhya and Shira are sitting in front of me. Shira’s eyes were glued on me, while Aadhya was looking a little hesitant.
"Gramma, you can remove that cloth from your face," she said softly.
"Later, sweety. I don’t want to turn the topic of our discussion in another direction," Shira told her, and Aadhya nodded without even arguing once with her. Shira looked at me and then at Aadhya. "She is not safe if Amara is so close to her," she stated.
"Aadhya is under my protection," I told her blankly. "Do you seriously think Amara can take me down?" I asked her, and the way Aadhya glared at me, I knew that she did not like the tone in which I was talking to her gramma.
"If she had been alone in all this, I should also have taken her down already. Am I looking a fool to you who came out of my hiding suddenly if Amara was not a threat to her?... alpha," she said in a taunting tone, and I can see from where Aadhya has gotten her attitude.
"Watch your tone, Shira, don’t forget who you are talking to" I gave her a warning, but I could see that she was not going to take my warning seriously ... {I seriously don’t want to use my alpha command on Aadhya’s grandmother, especially in front of her} ...
"Listen, Ryan, it’s not like I am meeting you for the first time. I have always thought very highly of you since you were a kid, not an alpha king. I have already lost my mate, my daughter, and my son-in-law because of Amara’s plotting, and in no fucking case, I am allowing anyone to give a single chance to Amara to even touch my granddaughter," she said to me calmly, but I can see rage building in her eyes... {How did she talk to me like that? }.. king roared, and a growl came out of my lips.
"Do you think we are giving a chance to Amara to hurt Aadhya?" king took control and growled at Shira.
On this, Shira stood from her place, rage clear in her eyes. "I don’t care if you are giving her a chance or not, I don’t care what you decide or not, but I am taking my granddaughter with me" as soon as I heard these words, I tried to take control from the king, but he is beyond my control by thinking that someone is taking his mate away.
"You can try," he said in a challenging tone, and I groaned in irritation as he extended the matter because of his stubbornness.
"Then watch me clearly.... pup," she added and looked into my eyes. This was enough for us to start a fully-fledged glaring competition.
"Could you two please shut up?" Suddenly Aadhya shouted, and with this, our glaring competition ended as both of us turned our gazes towards Aadhya... {she was looking beyond mad, king. Give me back the control} ... I told him as she was breathing hard to calm her raging breaths. Her cheeks turned a darker shade of crimson, and even her tiny nose also turned red in anger. "None of you are taking any decision of my life," she shouted at both of us and eyed me in anger.
"King, for god’s sake, give the control back to Ryan" king opened his mouth to counter, but one look from Aadhya and he closed his mouth again. "Do this right now, or I am never sitting on your back ever" this is the last straw for the king. He instantly gave me control and went into darkness while whimpering. When she was satisfied that I got the control, she turned her eyes on Shira in anger, and this made king a little happy "gramma, back on your seat now," she ordered her, but it seemed like Shira had more guts than the king.
Instead of backing away and sitting, Shira glared at Aadhya in return, but before she could say something, Aadhya pushed (gently) her on the chair back, and slowly, her expressions turned from anger to tiredness, and on this concern flashed in Shira’s eyes, and I am sure my face was also showing the same.
"I already have many people to fight with, vampires, rogues, and now Amara is also an addition. Please don’t make me fight with either of you" she stopped and looked at us, then continued, "now, let’s try it from the start and this time like civilized persons" both of us agreed on this without wasting a second.
"Fine," Shira said and looked at me. "I am hoping you already know a few things about me," she questioned both of us, and I looked at Aadhya. I gestured to her to continue from here, so she nodded and complied.
"Yeah, Amara told us a few things" Shira nodded, and Aadhya continued, "she told us about you, her and Mumma being a hybrid, you helping her to save Ryan, and she even told us that you sacrificed your wolf to save me" on this she stopped and looked hopefully at Shira "so, she was telling the truth" she stated it sadly and then continued, "she told us that the attacks we faced in the blue moon were because of me, they wanted to take me with them so that they can track you" she ended still looking sad, and Shira nodded.
"Yeah, that’s the correct reason for the first attack in which rose, and Daniel were killed," Shira said and stopped for a few seconds and then looked at Aadhya, "but I am afraid, munchkin... I don’t think this is the reason behind the last two attacks" she added, which made both of us very confused.
"Do you mean that someone other than Amara is targeting Aadhya?" I asked her in worry.
