Chapter 18: Chapter 18 - Meet my questioning self

I don’t know how to react, what to say and how to even face this situation. I don’t even know which is the trickier situation right now.

On the one hand, this stupid Ethan claimed in front of everyone that he is my mate, and on the other hand, I am feeling the mate tingles from the alpha king’s touch, and in all this drama, my eyes have decided that they wanted to be on alpha king only. I could see many emotions swirling in his eyes: shock, confusion, doubt, adoration, and many more, but before I observed him more, he coughed and steadied me on my feet. Slowly he removed his hands and took a step away from me. I felt sudden coldness because of it, but I hardened myself and looked at others... {let’s end all this first... after this, I will think about this another mate stuff}

Shock, that was the only thing written on everyone’s face. "What the fuck was that, Ethan?" Alpha Aiden shouted suddenly, and I flinched.

"She can’t leave me, dad. She is my mate," Ethan said while looking at me "you can’t leave me, Aadhya," he said desperately.

I would have ignored him in any other circumstance because he is always doing these stupid stunts from the day, he found that I was his mate, but I have already surpassed the tolerating level. I am sick of all these stupid situations that are coming into my life one by one. I looked into his eyes and circled my hands around me to keep myself warm... {I am already missing his warmth. That’s not how I felt in Ethan’s case. Then why does the alpha king have this effect on me?}

"I can, Ethan," I said to him and turned towards the alpha king. "I am not going to delay you more, alpha. We can go now."

"Can someone tell me what the hell is going on here?" Alpha Aiden said and looked at Ethan and me. I looked at Luna, who was looking crestfallen, and I guessed that she had already connected the dots.

"I have already told you everything, alpha. He is not lying; he just used the wrong words. I am not his mate. I was his mate."

"I AM your mate, Aadhya, and I will not allow you to cross the pack borders" he paused and looked at me in warning, "and I would suggest you not even dare to do this," and that’s where he has chosen the wrong words. Alpha king gave an earth-shaking growl and took a step towards Ethan, but I came in between while facing alpha king and put my hands on his shoulders. My touch instantly affected him, and he calmed a little. Then I turned towards Ethan, who was glaring at the alpha king.

"Don’t forget that I am no longer a member of this pack. You can’t order me. I have cleared it more than once after your rejection that I am never going to accept you as my mate, no matter what the situation is. So, next time choose your words wisely as I also don’t know the extent to which I can dare" I said this to him, then walked towards the car and hopped in the passenger seat, and closed the door behind me. I could feel Dee’s questioning gaze on me, but I chose to ignore it for a while. I waited for the alpha king to come inside and start driving, but he was still standing in the same place.

"I beg your pardon, alpha, but if Aadhya was his mate, then I need to talk to both of them. We can’t let her exit the pack without any clarification" I heard alpha Aiden’s voice, which made my blood boil.

"She is a member of the crescent moon pack now, and from her words, I think it is clear that she doesn’t want to do anything with your son." Alpha Ryan said, and I took a relaxing breath... {but he didn’t accept that he was my mate... well, new mate}

"Sorry for the inconvenience, alpha, but we can’t let her exit our borders this easily. We know that you are the alpha king, who the moon goddess herself specifically chooses, but even after this, you can’t overrule the mate bond that is the blessing of the moon goddess herself" Luna Olivia said this in a very polite way, but I don’t know what caused my blood to boil.

I opened the door and closed it with a thud. I tried to stop myself but felt like I was losing control of my body and senses. I don’t know why I did that, but I stood in front of Alpha and Luna and looked at them individually. I felt a great power within me. They shifted a little in their places, and I could feel their uneasiness.

"If your son can overrule the blessing of the moon goddess, then why not the alpha king," I said to them, and both of them seemed to be at a loss of words. I walked towards Ethan and put my hand on his, he gave me a dazzling smile, and I could feel the waves of sadness from the alpha king. I raised our adjoining hands to Ethan’s eye level and raised my eyebrow. "Are you able to feel anything, Ethan?" I asked him, and his smile faded away instantly.

"You rejected me, I accepted your rejection, and now there is no mate bond between us," I told him and left his hand. "We don’t have any connection now. We both are free to do anything that we want. I have already decided three months back that I will leave the blue moon pack for my own sake." I looked at Alpha and Luna "both of you gave me permission for this. Now I would love to take the leave," I said to them and, without looking at them, went towards the alpha king. "Can I drive for a while?" I asked him, and he put the keys in my hand without hesitation and hopped in the passenger seat.

I didn’t look at anyone and directly went inside the car and started driving without second thoughts. I knew that I had to tell many things to Dee and now maybe to the alpha king also, but we have to find some solution to that mate bond thing... {If a pack is unable to accept a human in their pack, then how can all the werewolves take me as their Luna queen?}

"There is no need to overthink things on your own, Aadhya. We will talk about everything in detail." Suddenly the alpha king said, and I got confused... {Is he able to read thoughts}... "I am the alpha king for a reason, Aadhya. I can feel your uneasiness," he clarified, and I nodded. After half an hour, we crossed the pack borders and heard an ear-piercing growl. I recognized it as Ethan’s, and to my surprise, it didn’t affect me.

"Park on the side. I will drive from here," the alpha king said to me.

"Is there anything wrong with my driving?" I asked him, and he did not say anything. "Layla told me that the crescent moon is a six-hour drive from here. I know you are the alpha king for a reason, but I can drive for half the route, and you can drive another half," I told him using his words, and after a few minutes, he put his mobile on the mobile holder, which was showing the directions.

"Stop at the first infirmary that will come on the road. We have to get your wounds dressed" as soon as these words escaped his lips, butterflies erupted in my stomach, and I tried to stay calm.

"I had already dressed my wounds when you and dee were at alpha’s" he nodded, and I continued driving. After an hour of silence, when I couldn’t tolerate it anymore, I took a deep breath. "I can’t drive like this"

"Like what?" he asked me.

"Silently," I said and looked at him.

"Then let me drive," he said stubbornly, and I rolled my eyes and focused on the road.

"Dee, sweetheart, are you asleep?" I asked and looked in the rearview mirror. Dee is sleeping on the back seat while hugging pappy "yes, I guess," I muttered, "Are you not bored, alpha?" I asked him.

"I like peace," he said, and I rolled my eyes.

"You know normal people use flight when they travel long routes," I tried to make him talk.

"I like to run in wolf form when I travel long routes," he said, and I looked at him in shock. His head is leaned backward on the seat, and his eyes are closed.

"Are you kidding me?" I said in amusement and again set my eyes on the road.

"My wolf has great speed, and being a royal wolf, he feels content when he gets a quick glance of all the packs nearby," he explained.

"Woah! That’s good. Tell me how long your wolf took to reach the blue moon pack."

"One hour"

"That’s fast," he opened his mouth to say something, but I said his words for him. "I know, I know... I am the alpha king for a reason, Aadhya," I mimicked him, and on it, he opened his eyes and looked at me.

"Did you know that you are a little weird sometimes?" he asked, and I laughed.

"Surprisingly, yes, I do know that I am weird sometimes. Do you know that back at blue moon pack, people used to call me a weirdo?" I asked him, and he chuckled.

"They are very creative," he said, and I nodded, "but if we are talking about the blue moon, then did you understand what happened there" I knew he would surely start this topic soon, but I had not thought that he would do it so bluntly.

"Yup," I said, and when he did not say anything, I looked at him. He is looking at me questioningly. "What, do you want me to say it aloud?" I asked him, and he huffed.

"I am twenty-seven, Aadhya. Don’t you think I am too old to find a mate at this age?" he asked, and I chuckled.

"It’s good to know that the moon goddess is playing games with someone other than me."

"That’s rude," he said, and I gave him an innocent smile.

"Luckily, I have faced a lot of surprising things in the last few months so nothing can surprise me for a long time now." After that, he didn’t say anything for a few minutes. "You can ask if you want to know something, alpha," I said, and he took a deep breath.

"How can you have two mates?" he said while gritting his teeth, and I shrugged. "Don’t you get troubled when you think about all this?" he asked me, and for the first time, I saw him troubled. I removed my hand from the gear and put it on his hand, and instantly felt the tingles while he closed his eyes. He had a peaceful expression on his face.

"Can you feel this?" I asked him, and he hummed in response. I removed my hand from his and instantly missed his touch, but I concentrated on driving, "Ethan was my mate" as soon as I said this, I felt him getting tense, "but he rejected me on the same day we found out that we are mates. I was left with no option but to accept his rejection. Believe me, those cheat cramps are hard to handle," I added, but this did nothing to ease him, so I let him be in peace for a few minutes.

"She didn’t even fight with him for the mate bond," he said to himself, but I heard it very clearly.

"It’s rude to judge someone." As soon as I said this, he looked at me in panic.

"I didn’t mean to say it aloud," he clarified, and I chuckled.

"Then let me change my words a bit, ’it’s rude to judge someone in your thoughts, too,’" I said, and he shook his head "it’s alright, alpha. As you just said a few minutes ago, I am weird, so you can add this to the ’my list of weirdness’" I chuckled at my own statement and added, "My way of thinking is also a little weird. In my opinion, if there is something or someone that is mine, then I will get it no matter what the circumstances are.... and for that something and someone, I am willing to fight till my last breath, but if that someone clearly doesn’t want me than I don’t see the need to fight for the one who is not willing to be with me" I tried to explain him, but when he doesn’t say anything, I chuckled "you can say that I have the power to letting the things go alpha."

"So, you have two mates," he concluded, and I rolled my eyes.

"Ethan WAS my mate, and the bond between us snapped long ago, but he was just unable to fight the bond because his wolf is always against rejection. When I touched him a few hours ago, I didn’t feel any mate tingles, and that proves that I only had one mate, right now, and that is you," I said to him, and at the last line, he fixed his gaze on me, and I got a little uncomfortable. {obviously, I don’t want to say this bluntly} ...

"Mate, tingle, seriously," he chuckled.

"In my long speech, you only understood this alpha. Now I really wanted to know why you are ’the alpha king,’" I said playfully. He let out a hearty laugh and then shook his head while smiling.

"You are something," he muttered.

"I am an awesome living being," I clarified, and he again chuckled.

"Living being, seriously," he asked me in amusement.

"I am neither human nor werewolf and surely not a vampire," I said, and he again shook his head in amusement.

"I think you should use some music to kill your boredom," he said.

"Did I tire you?" he nodded instantly, and I glared at him, but then I remembered something "last question, the last question."
