The Pack's Weirdo : A Mystery to unveil
Chapter 10- The better me

Chapter 10: Chapter 10- The better me

Three months later -

Do you know the feeling when you are angry, frustrated, irritated, and lonely at the same time but still can’t endure someone’s presence? The last three months were hell for me. Layla and Matt(with his mother) went to the crescent moon after a week they found their mates. They tried to convince me to shift with them, but I declined their offer till mate ball. Ellon and Mia told me that they would talk to the alpha king about me joining their pack, but I declined their offer also....{I don’t like the idea of being bullied by the royals}.. they tried to find something about the vampire attack, but they got nothing. Ellon promised Alpha Aiden, on behalf of the alpha king, that if something like that happened again, then the alpha king would himself come and look into this matter.

Being a royal wolf, Ellon knew about many things about rejection and mates. I told him about the secret of my scent. He told us that if someone rejects their mate moon goddess blesses the rejected one with something, but still, he promised me that he would find more details about rejection for my help.

After Layla and Matt departed, I dedicated all my time and energy to the warriors’ training. I trained to surpass all my limits and cleared the warrior’s test after a month. Everything was going fine, but things changed when my weird dreams started becoming wilder and wilder. I have not told anyone about these nightmares because I don’t know how to explain this.

Sometimes I dream of that similar insane man experimenting on someone, but I was never able to understand and hear anyone except the whimpering and painful groans. Every time he did some experiment, I felt the pain, but once I was awake, everything vanished as if nothing had happened. These dreams are the major reason for my anger. I try to stop myself from thinking about them, but no matter what I do, my mind wanders to those dreams again and again. I feel so suffocated and irritated.

Many things have changed that I have not told anyone. I can feel myself getting more robust with each passing day. My speed and strength increased tremendously. My senses are similar to the other werewolves now, but still, I don’t have a wolf.

Initially, I was concerned about this, but then I remembered Ellon’s words and convinced myself that the moon goddess gave me werewolf abilities in return for my mate. I have also felt the changes in my nature, and this is something that I cannot hide from others. I cannot tolerate someone bullying me; one day, I had an insanely ruthless fight with Stella. I don’t remember the exact things because I was beyond angry and out of control at that point, but I remember very clearly that Stella had to stay at the infirmary for an entire day, and after it, alpha Aiden punished me with double training and duty, but that was not the punishment for me. After that fight with Stella, no one tried to bully me or even called me a weirdo.

Ethan doesn’t behave like the jerk that he is. Instead, he gives me longing looks whenever he sees me, so I try not to come before him. I don’t feel any effects of mate bond, so I don’t care what he feels and does now. When I joined the warriors, I left the pack house and shifted to the orphanage with the alpha’s permission and with the mate ball’s preparation. It was not a monumental task. Beth doesn’t act mean to me anymore, but I can’t say we are friends. The day she told us that I used my command on her, I never tried once to talk with or befriend someone. Mrs. Black made a rule for me. I had to have dinner with them at least once a week, and no matter how much I wanted to deny her, I couldn’t, so that was the only interaction I did with others.

The only day I feel a little cheerful is the day when I dream of my parents. I knew these were just dreams because, in those, I saw myself playing with my parent’s wolf, but those were enough for me to keep going. We were attacked twice after the last attack, but these were just rogue attacks and hence didn’t get much attention from the royal pack.

Irrespective of me, every member of the blue moon pack is on cloud nine for the mate ball. I am glad that I have enrolled for the warriors training, or with the current state of my mind, I don’t think I would have been able to tolerate the commotion going on here. I looked at the clock and sighed in relief as it was five o’clock in the morning.

I quickly got up from my bed and went to the bathroom to take a quick bath. I changed into a black tank top, jeans, and a brown leather jacket and wore my specks... {I am used to it}... I took my bun stick and removed its top cover to see the hidden silver blade in it. When I was sure about its sharpness, I again covered it and tugged it in my bun. Then I took the sharp silver claws from the cupboard and put them in my pocket. I tucked a few silver knives into my jacket and boots and came out of the room.

"Will you please bring a chocolate for me?" I heard Diego’s voice behind me when I was closing the door. Diego is a five-year-old pup who came in the blue moon pack when he was 2 years old. His father was an alpha and is a good friend of our alpha. He died in an airplane crash with his mate, and alpha Aiden took Diego under his care. When I shifted to the orphanage, Diego got my attention on the very first day. He is the youngest pup in the orphanage and is often bullied by others, and this bullying is one of the primary reasons we bond well together.

"And why would I do this, baby?" I teased him, and he pouted.

"I am not a baby, addy," he said to me stubbornly, and I laughed.

"Complete your homework on time, and you will get your chocolate," I told him and pinched his nose.

"Pinky promise," he said adorably and extended his pinky finger towards me. I sat on my knees and locked my pinky finger with him.

"Pinky promise" he gave me one of his dazzling smiles, encircled his arms around my neck, and hugged me tightly.

"I love you, addy," he said and snuggled more into me.

"Take care, dee, don’t fight with someone, but if someone bullies you...you have my permission to kick their asses," he giggled, and I kissed his forehead "now go and take some more sleep," I told him, and he nodded and went inside his room. I smiled and walked out of the orphanage. I started walking towards the eastern borders, few people crossed me as they were going to the training ground, but each one of them practically ran away from me as if I would eat them alive. I was a lowly human for them until a few months back because I had never stood for myself, and now when I have stood up for myself, they are scared of me. I smiled and took those ’silver knuckle claws.’.. {this is the reason why you should not test someone’s limit}

"Aadhya," I heard Ethan’s voice and turned towards him. Rejection is neither easy for me nor for Ethan, but we both dealt with it in our own ways. I made myself more potent than ever, stopped thinking about what others say about me, and did everything I wanted. I even stopped using that fake scent while Ethan did the stupidest things. Every time he saw me, he gave me longing looks, and I bet he tried to sniff my scent many times. I don’t know for sure, but his decreasing weight and constant dark circles made me think that he is not even eating and sleeping properly.

"Ethan," I told him, and he came near me and took deep breaths but sighed in defeat after a few seconds.

"Dad called all the warriors in the warrior’s training ground," he said, and I nodded and turned towards the training ground while he walked along with me. "so, how’s life going?" he asked me.

"Good," I told him, still fixing the claws.

"So, piercings and tattoos, huh," he told me, proving that he was giving a lot of time to observing me. I hummed in response.

"Can you tell me?" he asked hesitantly after a few minutes.

"What?"

"You are dealing with rejection very well," he said hesitantly.

"Yeah, I don’t want to spend my emotions and feelings on someone who is nothing in my life," I told him, and he flinched but didn’t ask anything after that. After a few minutes, I broke the silence. "Staying away from me will help you," I told him, and he stopped with a jerk while I continued walking. He came running behind me after a few minutes.

"Did-di" he stuttered and stopped but then took a deep breath and continued, "Did you also feel that constant hollowness that something is missing? Did you also feel that nagging feeling that nothing is going to be alright in your life?" he asked me and his expressions are similar to Diego when he is curious to know something.

"If you were expecting something other than this, then I am sorry, Ethan, that’s not how the moon goddess works," I told him and walked towards the other warriors waiting for the alpha. When I went there, some of them gave me nods for acknowledgment which I returned. Alpha came after a few minutes, and everyone went silent. "Warriors of blue moon pack," his voice boomed, and we all bowed slightly to show respect to our alpha. "I believe that you all know that we are going to host the mate ball day after tomorrow," he said, and we all said in unison, "Yes, alpha" suddenly, his gaze turned towards me, and he clenched his fists, but in seconds he became normal.

He nodded and continued, "warriors are the shield of the pack. I know that many of you are unmated and are excited to find their mates but I don’t want any lapses in security" he stopped and gave us pointed looks. "all the unmated wolves should talk with Gamma after this announcement so that he can free you on the day of mate ball while I am sorry to inform the mated wolves that they have to do double duty during this time." he said, and no one said anything. "Our guests will start arriving in a few hours from now, so behave yourselves. Is everything clear?" he asked, and we all shouted "yes, alpha" in unison. With it, he dismissed us and walked towards the pack house.

Gamma Alexander came in front and put a pen and paper on the table. "I wanted all the warriors’ names in this paper in separate columns ’mated’ and ’unmated,’" he said, and with this, one by one, warriors started walking towards him and entering their names. I walked toward him, and he looked at me questioningly.

"I can do the double duties, gamma," I told him, and he scrunched his eyebrows.

"But you are unmated-" before he said something, I interrupted him.

"Human," I completed his sentence, "I am an unmated human, and instead of wasting my time at some ball, I would like to stay at borders protecting the pack," I told him, and for a nanosecond, I saw a little smile on his face.

"I am glad that you joined the warriors, aadhya," he told me while his eyes were settled on the silver knuckles that were fixed on my hand. I nodded and went towards the woods. I reached the eastern border, and the warrior that was there gave me a nod and went towards the pack.
