Chapter 961: Chapter 769, Commander Chapter 961: Chapter 769, Commander The three people shouted loudly, their bodies struggling violently.
But no matter how they resisted, they couldn't break free from Skeleton's grasp, and were slowly dragged away into the distance.
By now, the rest had basically understood what had happened.
These three had provided some kind of photos to outsiders, akin to betraying the base's intelligence, and had been discovered by Qi Hancai.
Under everyone's watchful gaze.
The three were dragged into the flowerbed, and the sound of swords and blades piercing flesh rang out.
The pleas for mercy and screams also came to a stop.
They truly killed them.
Everyone's faces paled slightly, a sense of fear arising in their hearts.
Qi Hancai turned back to the others, his voice cold as he said, “Don't forget who rescued you from the zombies, when you couldn't even find a bite to eat. Now that you're well-fed, you think about betraying the base's intelligence, the consequences of betrayal and ingratitude only lead to one thing, and that is death.”
“You all know the situation outside, the main rescue team is also buying food from us. Of all the bases in the world, this is the only one where you can eat your fill. Use your brains when you do things. If you don't want to eat, if you want to go to an outside base and be dogs, don't drag everyone else down with you.”
“The rule is set here, anyone who betrays the base or its members will be executed, regardless of what you did before, no exceptions.”
Qi Hancai spoke these words loudly, his tone still icy cold, with someone translating beside him.
Some particularly long sentences still needed someone to translate.
The others listened in silence, also sensing Qi Hancai's anger at the moment.
Heads bowed, they responded in unison, “Yes!”
…
At five in the afternoon, the convoy slowly approached the refuge base.
The first thing that came into view was a towering wall made of concrete, its surface covered with mottled marks, and at the top of the wall, sharp barbed wire, and armed guards patrolling.
“Damn, finally back. Been on edge out there.”
“Survived another day, feels good.”
“We got quite a bit of food from this trade, should last us a while.”
“With so many people in the city, what we traded for won't be nearly enough, no idea where those guys get their food to trade away like that.”
“Dongmin, what's up with you, acting all serious, hardly said a word today.”
“Don't mention it, the photo thing got messed up, not sure how to explain when I get back.”
“We had several people arranged, not like it'll make a difference without you.”
As they spoke.
The convoy neared the gate in the wall, where guards began checking each vehicle one by one. After confirming there were no issues, the gates opened and the convoy drove straight in.
Entering the base, they were met with a chaotic scene.
On both sides, various temporary tents and makeshift shacks, with ragged women and children following the convoy, ceaselessly kneeling down begging for food.
In their eyes, exhaustion and numbness, a total lack of confidence in life.
This is the main base?
It was no better than Shanfu Port when they first arrived at the island, or rather, it was an enlarged version of Shanfu Port.
The convoy didn't stop, continuing on.
Next, they entered another area enclosed by walls, the same towering barriers, barbed wire, along with armed guards and heavy weaponry.
The women and children followed for a distance, then didn't dare to approach the inner wall any further.
The gate opened, and the convoy entered.
Houses, basketball courts, in the distance one could see armored vehicles and some special-purpose vehicles.
So this was the real base.
It was somewhat like Lundham City, with an inner city and an outer city distinguished.
A military base.
The outside seemed more like slums.
…
The convoy stopped in front of a warehouse.
Someone immediately came up to move the supplies.
The rest of the people got out of the vehicles.
“Let's go, time to eat in the cafeteria,” someone called out.
Wu Heng shook his head. “You guys go ahead, I need to report on the situation here.”
“You're acting weird today, but suit yourself. If you're late, there won't be any food left,” the others said as they walked off to one side.
Wu Heng turned his gaze toward the commanding officer in the convoy and gave a sign with his eyes. Bella immediately followed.
They sat on a bench outside the distant basketball court for a while.
Xiao Xiao, who had gone to scout the area, flew back and whispered on his shoulder, “Uncle, there are so many weapons here, they seem even more powerful than ours.”
“Let's see what they've got,” said Wu Heng.
Xiao Xiao slipped into his body, sharing the visuals.
Passing quickly through each large warehouse, Xiao Xiao's view swept over armored vehicles, helicopters, and missile vehicles with thick cylindrical tubes.
Missiles!
They actually had such things here.
After releasing Xiao Xiao, Bella returned as well, saying, “They met with the Commander and showed him your photo. The Commander seemed delighted, promising them promotions. It feels like a bad situation for you.”
Wu Heng nodded, his eyes moving toward a building not far away. “The Commander is over there, isn't he?”
“Yep.”
“Let's go see what the Commander actually wants from me,” Wu Heng said as he stood and walked toward the building.
Climbing the stairs en route and guided covertly by Bella, they reached the floor where the Commander was.
A woman resembling an assistant or deputy eyed him curiously and asked, “What do you want?”
“It's about the photo; I have a crucial report for the Commander,” Wu Heng promptly replied.
The deputy looked at him more closely. “Wait here; I'll ask.”
The deputy soon returned. “Come with me.”
Wu Heng followed her into the Commander's office, a large room with extensive furniture.
The middle-aged Commander sat behind a desk, engrossed in his cell phone.
“What information do you have? Speak up!”
“Commander, those people have heard of us, and the photo they provided is fake,” Wu Heng immediately stated.
“Fake?” The other's brow furrowed.
“Yes, fake. That's what they told me at their base,” Wu Heng continued.
Seeing that the conversation was proceeding normally, the deputy closed the door and left the room.
“Do you have the real one?” the Commander inquired.
“Of course I do,” Wu Heng scanned the doorway and took out a Soundproof Pot, placing it on the coffee table. Then he commanded, “Control him.”
In the next second, the Commander's body stiffened, and his face underwent a drastic change. “You're not one of us from the base.”
Wu Heng removed his mask and rotated his neck, saying earnestly, “Commander, why are you looking into my appearance? Tell me why!”
“Wu Heng! It's you,” the Commander exclaimed in shock, and then he began to shout, “Guards, come quickly!”
Wu Heng sat down across from him, picked up the cell phone from the desk, and casually glanced at it.
Sure enough, there was his photo.
He tossed the cell phone into the Space Ring and looked at the increasingly pale Commander, lost in thought.
After meeting this Commander, it was evident that the base had quite a population.
What to do next?
How could he gain control of this base in a simpler and more effective way?
“Wu Heng, throw out any conditions you like, I'll agree to all of them,” the Commander, now hoarse from shouting, seeing no response, began to bargain.
Wu Heng also looked up and said simply, “Kill him.”
Crack!
The Commander's neck twisted full circle once more, his body slumped down, and he collapsed to the floor with a thud.
