Chapter 908: Chapter 726, What's Rescued is the Data Chapter 908: Chapter 726, What's Rescued is the Data “Any more? Let me have a look.”
The young Taoist pulled a wrinkled Yellow Talisman from his pocket, drawn with vermillion runes, “For exorcism. That's how it's drawn in the book.”
Wu Heng took it and glanced at it, saying, “Can I have this?”
“You can have it, but it's not very useful against ghosts,” the other replied.
“Okay.” Wu Heng nodded.
The two chatted.
Lv Chang'an and a few others came out of the inside room.
Seeing that Wu Heng had also returned, they immediately walked over, “Leader Wu, how did it go?”
“It's dealt with. Let's head back now,” Wu Heng replied directly.
It was already getting dark, and Wu Heng wanted to return to Yangtong City overnight.
Lv Chang'an pulled Wu Heng aside and asked in a low voice, “Did the ghost escape or was it slain?”
“It was slain.”
“Really?”
“Really. Do I look like I'd joke about something like this!” Wu Heng said directly.
Lv Chang'an visibly breathed a sigh of relief.
Still, he confirmed again, “Leader Wu, we would reward you even if it had escaped. You're sure it was slain, right?”
It was clear that the matter of the ghost had become an obsession.
“It's slain, and it won't bother you again,” Wu Heng nodded and said.
“That's good,” Lv Chang'an said with a smile on his face, then he told everyone, “Prepare to leave. We'll evacuate in 10 minutes, bring the cars to the entrance.”
“Yes,” everyone responded, starting their preparations.
Lv Chang'an turned back to Wu Heng, about to speak.
Then sounds from the entrance exclaimed, “Holy shit! I'm hallucinating.”
“There are monsters.”
“Be on alert, there are monsters at the entrance.”
Lv Chang'an immediately tensed up and peered out to see the Skeleton Flying Dragons on the ground and on the rooftops.
He said, “What are you shouting for? These are Leader Wu's superpowers. Just do your jobs and don't attack them, and there won't be any problems.”
The people were already panicking.
The superpower of the Skeleton Bone Dragons, looming over the rooftops, looking down at them.
This was far scarier than zombies.
They left the house half-believing, sticking to the walls and moving away slowly, preparing the cars as instructed.
Lv Chang'an came back and said, “Leader Wu, I'll take the car back. How will you return?”
“I'll ride the Flying Dragon back, try to get back to our side before it gets too late.”
“That urgent?”
“There are some things to take care of back home,” Wu Heng said with a smile.
His level was capable of handling most dangers, but he preferred not to overnight in unfamiliar places.
Lv Chang'an nodded, “That'll do. The reward promised to you, I'll prepare it in the next few days and have it delivered to your place.”
“Great!”
They exchanged a few more words.
A modified bus and two armored vehicles avoided the waiting Flying Dragons and stopped at a more distant position.
Lv Chang'an said goodbye, boarded the bus with his people, and Wu Heng climbed onto the back of a Flying Dragon.
They shot straight up into the sky, heading in the direction of the airport.
“Commander Lv, who is this Leader Wu that you've brought in?” someone asked curiously on the returning bus.
Lv Chang'an opened a crack in the window, blew out a ring of smoke, and said, “King Yama, haven't you heard of him?”
“It's him!”
Everyone looked at each other, but no one was surprised.
When they saw the Skeleton Flying Dragons, they thought of him.
King Yama, Xinfu City base, the name was too well-known.
In terms of ranking, it wasn't easy to say whether the central office or Xinfu City base was safer and more complete.
The central office had actually managed to invite him over.
“Superpower type, fits his title, doesn't it!” Lv Chang'an said again.
King Yama, over 20 years old, wouldn't pick such a name for himself.
Like when you were little, with those self-proclaimed cool, non-mainstream usernames on your QQ.
Now it seemed, the superpower did indeed fit the title.
“It fits quite well,” someone replied.
“What a pity, he's not one of our men. Otherwise, cleaning up in different areas wouldn't be so troublesome,” Lv Chang'an sighed again.
An elder in the backseat, holding a briefcase, said, “He wouldn't help for nothing, right?”
“Seven Third-level corpse cores, five armored vehicles.”
“Big demand.”
Lv Chang'an took a deep breath and said, “Our previous cooperation was good; otherwise, no matter how much we offered, he might not have helped.”
After saying that, he added, “You all came back safely, it's worth it.”
On the Flying Dragon.
Glenda floated to one side and said, “What he wanted to save wasn't the person, but the data the old man was holding.”
Wu Heng frowned, “What did you find?”
“After dealing with the ghost, I listened to their conversation inside. They were discussing experiments and data, confirming that document,” Glenda said.
It looked like the data in hand was very important.
No wonder they agreed to seven corpse cores, five armored vehicles.
“What kind of data?”
“I glanced over it roughly, some subjects, and some corpse core research,” Glenda said.
Wu Heng raised an eyebrow, “About the Corpse Core?”
“It should be something related.”
“When we get there, try to have a look,” Wu Heng said.
The Flying Dragon sped up again, heading towards the direction of the airport.
Upon reaching the airport, the Flying Dragon descended from the sky.
Lv Chang'an and the convoy had not returned yet, but the personnel guarding the airport walked out from the building.
After looking at Wu Heng and the Flying Dragon, a middle-aged man asked, “Leader Wu, how's the progress?”
“It's resolved. Commander Lv and the rest are coming back by car; they should arrive shortly,” Wu Heng replied as he dismounted from the dragon's back.
“That's really great news.” The faces of several people on the other side lit up with joy.
“I'll stay here for a while, waiting for Commander Lv to get back, and then I'll leave,” Wu Heng said.
“Please, this way–we've prepared a room for you to rest.”
Someone led the way, and Wu Heng followed to rest in a room on the second floor of the station's main hall.
After about half an hour, a knock on the door came again.
“Leader Wu, Commander Lv invites you to have a meal.”
Wu Heng went out and followed the man to the dining room.
Around the dining table sat several people, but none of the personnel who had been rescued were present.
“Leader Wu, it's a hastily prepared meal; I hope you won't mind.”
Wu Heng smiled and sat down, “Not at all, it's quite a spread already.”
They ate a few bites together.
Then Lv Chang'an continued, “Leader Wu, do you still have something to discuss with me?”
“Some things about training; I suddenly thought of them on the way back and figured I'd discuss them with you.”
“Just speak freely.”
“It's still about some technical matters; I plan to arrange for some personnel to go and learn.”
Providing training was one of the conditions discussed before the rescue operation.
Lv Chang'an saw no reason to refuse, especially since the strength displayed by Wu Heng was even greater than estimated.
Maintaining peaceful and good relations was the best approach.
“Of course, no problem. Which areas do they need?”
“Right now, we need shipbuilding, especially for large vessels, and also modern architectural design and construction.”
Lv Chang'an glanced at him, “Can do. Is it going to be those skeletons coming to learn?”
“There will be a few humans arranged this time, plus some skeletons.”
“That works. Then the next time we go over, we can just bring those people back with us to train them.” Lv Chang'an agreed cheerfully.
“Good!”
Wu Heng nodded in agreement, ate a bit more, and then bid farewell to the others.
He went back to the room on the second floor to wait.
Through a crack in the open window, a phone flew in, followed by the appearance of the Three Ghosts, Glenda, Xiao Xiao, and Bella.
“We've taken pictures of all the materials. There were quite a few pages, so it took some time,” Glenda whispered.
“You weren't noticed, were you?”
“Nope,” Xiao Xiao said. “They were sleeping like logs and didn't notice. After we were done, we put everything back.”
Wu Heng checked the phone's gallery and saw the photos were quite clear.
“Good job, let's go back.” Wu Heng packed everything up and promptly left the room.
After greeting Lv Chang'an, he boarded the plane.
And took off from there.
After returning to Yangtong City, he stayed at the military factory for a night and set out for Xinfu City on the train the next morning.
“That's it? It's over?” Li Yahong was a bit surprised.
“Strange, is it? Even Xiao Xiao could beat it up,” Wu Heng said with a smile.
Xiao Xiao floated beside Li Yahong, “Yeah, I could've whacked it too.”
Li Yahong said, “It's not that I don't believe you guys, it just seems too fast.”
Most of the time, they spent traveling.
Killing the Ghost was just a matter of convenience.
“Next time there's a base with this kind of situation, we could take the job too, with a clear price,” Wu Heng suggested.
“We might as well disclose an approximate cost. If we openly charge for rescue, many people will accuse us of profiteering from disasters, and of not being cooperative,” Li Yahong added.
“That's fine too, I meant well,” Wu Heng replied.
Li Yahong said with a smile, “I know, but some people won't see it that way.”
As they talked, the intercom crackled with static.
Soon after, a voice came through, “Sister Hong, the convoy is ready.”
“I've got to head out,” Li Yahong said.
“Go ahead, I'm going back to my room to rest. I'll look for you when I get up,” Wu Heng also stood up, stretching his body.
Li Yahong nodded, departing the room, while Wu Heng returned to his quarters.
Having stepped out of the boundary door, Wu Heng returned to the Otherworld.
The maids had already eaten breakfast and went to the kitchen to have the Skeleton Chef make a separate meal for him.
Seeing Wu Heng, Mini stepped forward quickly, “Master, Wen Mansha has sent an urgent message.”
Wu Heng's eyebrows knit together.
With Lundham City still at war, could something have happened?
“I'll go upstairs and take a look,” Wu Heng said, climbing up to the radio room.
Picking up the handset, he asked, “Wen Mansha, are you there?”
The voice of the housekeeper came first, “Master, please wait, I'll call the lady.”
Shortly after, Wen Mansha's voice rang out, “Master.”
“Wen Mansha, you needed to see me?”
“Steward Slyther has sent a message. There's a spy from Gold and Silver Island in Yeko Kingdom investigating the Evil Cult. They found that in Ergiro City there are several Evil Cults gathering, preparing a plan against Yeko Kingdom.”
