Chapter 1430: Chapter 1013, Even the Holy Hall is Not Safe

The carriage jolted violently over the cobblestone road, the wheels crunching over potholes with a dull ’thunk’ sound.

Liz lurched forward, supported by the priest, and leaned weakly against the carriage wall, her face as pale as paper.

Edmond’s Holy Throne Robe shimmered with a cold light in the dim carriage, his eyes fixed on the opposite side, gaze sharp as a knife, "Last night—did nothing really happen?"

Liz’s fingers unconsciously clutched the hem of her skirt, which still bore the remnants of wetness from an accident.

She slowly lifted her head, disheveled strands clinging to her forehead, yet her gaze was unexpectedly calm, "Holy Seat..., if there really was an issue, would you not have noticed it?"

Edmond’s pupils slightly contracted, this submissive believer became calm at this moment.

She seemed ready to face whatever was to happen next.

"What did you dream of?" Edmond leaned forward, the hem of his divine robe draping over his knees.

Liz gazed at the fleeting scenery outside the window, and softly said, "I dreamed... of going to a harbor. The lights were bright, and the people on the street were laughing."

"And then?"

"And then many bards were reciting poetry loudly, and the streets were bustling." Liz lowered her head, her body swaying with the carriage as she softly recalled.

After recounting for a while.

Liz suddenly coughed, a trace of blood seeping from the corner of her mouth.

Looking down at the deep red stains in her palm, "Your Eminence, how much time do I have left in my life?"

Edmond fell into silence, "Enough for you to meet His Holiness the Pope."

Silence briefly enveloped the carriage.

Just when ’Edmond’ was about to continue speaking.

The carriage suddenly halted, the wheels screeched on the cobblestones, followed by the voice of the accompanying knight, "Holy Seat, people from the association are blocking the way, led by Steward Xavier."

Edmond sternly said, "Tell them that The Holy Court is on a mission and to let us pass."

The knight left and soon returned, "Holy Seat, they want Miss Liz to accompany them."

Edmond’s eyes narrowed, surprised that the local association could accurately mention ’Liz’s’ name.

Was last night’s incident the work of the association?

This thought arose only to be dismissed immediately....

If the association wanted to handle this matter, they certainly wouldn’t do it this way, they would definitely follow the proper procedures.

Especially since ’Hadara’ leads the association, they value procedural justice while pursuing results.

Edmond stepped down and the sunlight happened to illuminate Liz’s bloodless face as he opened the door.

She huddled in the corner, firmly restrained by two priests.

On the rooftops lining the road, various tamed beasts also watched below, their eyes scanning the group and the carriage.

"Does the association have some business?" Edmond stepped aside to block the view, and his divine robe caused the nearby curious residents to salute in unison.

The crowd dropped to a hush.

The local steward ’Xavier’, originating from the elf race, strode forward and saluted, saying, "Edmond Holy Seat, may I ask if Miss Liz is in the carriage? The association needs her cooperation for something."

"Steward Xavier might be in the wrong place; you should inquire at her residence." Edmond replied.

Xavier awkwardly smiled, "Then please allow us to inspect the carriage."

"Arrogance!" Edmond’s thunderous shout echoed through the narrow alleyways, and the longswords of the church knights unsheathed in unison.

But on the association’s side, while the team members gripped their sword hilts tightly, they hesitated to draw them.

In the city of the Holy Hall, even the flower-selling children at the alley’s entrance were followers.

If conflict erupted, they might not even be able to find their bodies.

Edmond said coldly, "Step aside now, or you know the consequences."

Steward Xavier stepped forward with a calm face, "Your Eminence, the leader’s order must not put us in a tight spot."

Being left as a steward in the Holy Hall naturally requires both ability and courage.

And surely, considering the current situation, the opposition would not act rashly.

The team members behind him wiped their sweat one by one.

"The leader’s order?" Edmond squinted his eyes.

Xavier took out a piece of paper and unfolded it, "We are acting on orders, maybe the headquarters is conducting a leader’s meeting, would you reconsider?"

Edmond’s gaze fell on the ’order,’ a blank piece of paper with only a leader’s seal in the corner.

"Blank? Are you playing me?"

"I read it, and the words disappeared." Xavier said, "Your Eminence, why don’t we take a step back; I take her with me, you monitor her, and until there’s a clear directive, we won’t question Miss Liz separately, how about that?"

Edmond gazed at him and the paper for several moments, seeing that the crowd around them was growing, he said, "Take Liz to the association to rest with Xavier."

"Yes!"

Liz was assisted out of the carriage and handed over to the association’s side.

When everyone saw Liz, they all widened their eyes, surprised at what she had become.

Before leaving, Edmond reminded, "Liz, have a good rest. We’ll come to get you at that time."

Liz slightly bowed, being taken as if mere cargo onto the association’s carriage.

Gradually leaving.

Edmond stood motionless, his gaze following the carriage, his expression changing.

...

Temple, meeting room.

The Illuminating Stone flickered under the dome, three heroes sat around the round table.

"Saidu’s fate... ends here." The Pope’s voice was a sigh, "The Holy Court has done all it can, the Father will witness our loyalty."

The situation developed to this point, Saidu still hadn’t managed to survive.

This indicates his fate is as such, and no one is to blame.

Edmond stared at the table, mused for a moment, then said, "Thinking back now, that leader’s insignia, it should be Wu Heng’s."
