Chapter 1328: Chapter 967, Divine Messenger
Immortal Monarch.
Wu Heng was somewhat surprised by the other’s origins.
Before becoming a hero himself, he had learned about some famous heroes.
Besides the heroes ruling the association, specially mentioned ones included the ’Dragon’ of the Snake Badge Consortium and the Immortal Emperor of the Endless Desert.
Rumor had it that this emperor was a Necromancer who had transformed himself into a hero, ruling over the entire desert domain.
Had he also heard about his own legend?
Wu Heng pondered silently, but his expression remained unchanged as he gestured with his hand, "Please, sit!"
The other person sat down opposite, removed their hood, revealing a face in their forties, with deep-set eyes and a darker complexion.
It was a deep brown, even darker than the typical skin tone of the residents around the Emerald Sea.
After sitting down, the other person spoke with continued respect and politeness, "Please forgive my abrupt visit. I came to the city hall immediately after landing on the island to avoid causing trouble here."
"As long as there’s no criminal record and the island’s order is not disrupted, Gold and Silver Island welcomes all guests," Wu Heng said flatly.
"Honored Hero!" the Necromancer ’Kurt’ lowered his voice, his expression becoming serious, "The great Monarch has heard of your experiences with the association and the bias and discrimination of the Holy Court against the Necromancer Profession. The Endless Desert, also a part of the Necromancy Sect, feels angry at this unfair treatment."
Wu Heng raised an eyebrow, roughly guessing the other’s purpose.
Kurt continued, "In the Endless Desert, Necromancers are not a taboo, nor an evil profession, but rather...the foundation of civilization and knowledge."
Wu Heng hadn’t expected the other to say such words.
It seemed that in the Endless Desert, Necromancers were more like scholars and orthodox mages.
Kurt raised his head to observe Wu Heng, as well as the white, droopy-eared rabbit girl standing behind, and continued, "This time, the great Immortal Monarch extends to you the most sincere invitation, hoping you will join the Endless Desert. At the same time, it promises you a higher status and treatment, with no restrictions on your professional books in the Endless Desert."
Indeed, the other invited him to join the Endless Desert.
A hero possessed strong battle power, and one of the simplest ways to gauge the influence of a force was by the number of heroes it had.
The association’s advantage was its numbers, and if heroes appeared in several races, they would also become the leaders of the association.
Seeing that the other had stopped talking, Wu Heng said, "You should have heard about my killing of the Pope, right? Aren’t you afraid the Holy Court will vent its fury on the desert?"
"You needn’t worry about that. The Endless Desert is different from the Emerald Sea; it’s difficult for the Holy Court to launch an attack. Even if war breaks out, we won’t fear them in the desert," Kurt said confidently.
In other words, taking advantage of the terrain, they weren’t afraid of the Holy Court’s advance.
Wu Heng continued, "I am now the leader of the association. Is it still possible to join your Endless Desert?"
"Honored Hero, although you’ve become a leader, the association’s resources have not been allocated to you and even allowed the Holy Court to attack Gold and Silver Island. Why remain in the association?" Kurt’s voice was solemn, as if he were standing up for Wu Heng’s grievances.
In other words, the relationship between the Endless Desert and the association might not be so harmonious, and one could only join one.
While not planning to leave the association, Wu Heng subconsciously began to weigh his options.
The other party’s given reasons were his conflict with the Holy Court and the association’s inaction.
They believed he was oppressed here, and even though the papers had reported the killing of the Pope, the Holy Court still had the means to destroy him again.
The second point was the other party’s promise that Necromancers in the Endless Desert held a high status, and upon going there, he could receive support for skill books, ritual records, and materials.
This was the most attractive point, as most of his knowledge of Necromancy was pieced together, and the Endless Desert would likely have more comprehensive information.
But the downside was also apparent.
The Endless Desert and the association were different; the association’s model was relatively free. As a leader, Wu Heng didn’t need to do anything — any needs could be addressed by writing to the headquarters, which would try to handle them for him.
The Endless Desert, however, resembled a nation where the Immortal Emperor acted as emperor, and if he went there, he’d merely become a minister under the emperor’s command, subject to corresponding controls while having resources.
He wasn’t content with just being a hero. The panel’s condition for advancement was collecting faith.
In the Endless Desert, the statues in the churches were all of the Immortal Emperor’s heroes.
This would obstruct his collection of faith.
If a method for collecting faith were found, it’s estimated this emperor would want to use it on himself.
And then there was Lundham City.
Gold and Silver Island was already far enough, and moving to the desert would make it even harder to get there.
Various thoughts fluttered through Wu Heng’s mind as he raised his head again, asking, "Do you have ways to enhance battle power?"
"Battle power?" Kurt pondered and replied, "I’m not sure of the Monarch’s arrangements, but after joining, you should be provided with special items and tools to increase battle power.
As for Ghosts, the Endless Desert has places to nurture them. If your Ghost hasn’t reached Level 15, it can be enhanced here, reaching Level 15 within three years, and the Necromancer Attendant should provide you with Level 18 corpses."
Level 15 Ghosts, Level 18 corpses.
Seems they’ve underestimated me a bit.
Furthermore, the information they had was rather outdated, thinking my Ghost hadn’t even reached Level 15 yet.
