Chapter 1263: Chapter 937, Investigation
Upon hearing the intelligence gathered by the Fifth Princess, Wu Heng and Shanaela immediately pieced things together.
There was no Necromancer.
Or rather, the other party had yet to find a suitable Necromancer and was still in the state of a Ghost.
The previous investigative direction had been somewhat off track.
"Is there any more detailed information?" Wu Heng continued to ask.
The Fifth Princess replied, "Male, approximately 170cm tall, his voice sounds young, wearing a hood that conceals him very well, so his appearance wasn’t seen. He’s also very cautious in his actions."
In other words, the other party was deliberately concealing their identity.
Wu Heng fell into silent contemplation, while Shanaela picked up the conversation and asked, "Can we track down this person?"
"I’ve already sent people to look, but based on the current intelligence, it might take some time," the Fifth Princess said helplessly.
170cm in height, a male voice.
Such information provided them with a direction but was otherwise too generic.
Anyone on the streets could fit this description.
The only confirmed point was that the other party was purchasing items that nourished Ghosts.
This could tie back to the Ghost-related murders.
Shanaela pondered for a moment and suggested, "What about luring him out? For instance, spreading word that we possess a Special Item he wants."
"Under normal circumstances, this method might work, but right now, the other party definitely won’t fall for it."
After scouring the entire city with his own Ghosts and finding no trace of other Ghosts,
releasing such a message now would only make the other party aware that their purchase of Special Items had been discovered, leading them to hide even deeper or flee the city outright.
In fact, under the current circumstances, it was unclear if the other party had already left today.
Shanaela thought for a moment and conceded, continuing to ask, "Do you think your grudge lies with the Ghost, or the man purchasing the Special Items?"
At present, the two seemed to be separate entities. The one holding a grudge against Wu Heng could be the Ghost, but it might also be the man acquiring items for the Ghost.
Wu Heng mulled it over and said, "The high-level professionals I killed wouldn’t have Ghosts that could escape. The enemy might be that man, but considering how everything ties together, the other party also seems like a subordinate. There’s also the possibility of cooperation, where one is helping with revenge while the other assists with acquiring tools."
When it came to Ghosts, Wu Heng was relatively confident.
All Level 18 and above professionals he had killed, including the Hero Pope, had their soul bodies fully contained once their physical bodies died.
He might not be at the top among professionals, but his Ghost dominance was undisputed, especially considering he had three Ghosts.
Non-threatening entities would be subdued by Glenda and sealed inside the Demon Soul Pot as ritual materials, while those with potential threats would be directly devoured.
Therefore, he couldn’t think of any Ghost that might harbor a grudge against him. As for the man, since his identity remained uncertain, it was possible Wu Heng had killed someone close to him.
"That makes sense." Shanaela nodded in agreement.
Eliminating other possibilities, the current situation only led to this conclusion.
The two sat together in the living room for a while.
"It’s fine, don’t worry." Wu Heng reassured her upon noticing her concerned expression.
"Sigh~!" Shanaela let out a faint sigh.
Problems never ceased.
The effects of the Snake Badge auction on Gold and Silver Island had just started to bear fruit, and the influx of new visitors to the region had yet to begin.
Now there was trouble in Netalee City, potentially undoing all their previous efforts.
Wu Heng chuckled and said, "Don’t worry, I’m already a hero. These problems won’t have significant consequences."
Shanaela, unable to come up with a better solution, stood up and said, "I’ll head upstairs to take a bath. We can discuss further if we come up with any ideas."
"Alright!" Wu Heng nodded.
Shanaela headed upstairs, while Wu Heng remained seated.
He quickly reviewed the gathered clues in his mind.
It could be said that the Fifth Princess’ contribution was still important. However, the clue didn’t substantially aid in pinpointing the target.
What methods could he employ to locate the target with this clue?
As the thought crossed his mind, his gaze sharpened.
When it came to intelligence work, he had his own channels.
How could he have forgotten?
Picking up his phone, he dialed Lilith’s number.
After two rings, the call connected, and Lilith’s rich, textured voice came through. "Hmm, speak."
"Leader, what are you busy with?" Wu Heng opened in a polite tone.
"If you aren’t calling me, I’m resting. Heard you went off again?" Lilith said, accompanied by the sound of a coffin lid sliding open.
"I’m here in Netalee City, planning to build a second church," Wu Heng replied with a laugh.
"You’re being overly ambitious," Lilith softly commented.
"The Leader is absolutely right," Wu Heng agreed wholeheartedly.
They both fell silent for a moment.
Lilith asked, puzzled, "Do you have other business?"
"Yes, somewhat. I’d like your help," Wu Heng replied awkwardly.
"Speak."
After thinking for a moment, Wu Heng said, "I’m trying to locate someone in Netalee City. Male, about 170cm tall, who recently bought tools for nourishing Ghosts in the market."
"You want me to use the Secret Speakers to help you?" Lilith countered.
Previously, Wu Heng had wanted information from the Secret Speakers to create some kind of database. Now he was counting on their intelligence network once again.
It gave her the impression of being targeted.
"Ah! The matter is quite serious. You’re the only one I can think of who might help me uncover this information," Wu Heng said directly.
Lilith’s tone was tinged with exasperation. "What happened? Tell me."
She was genuinely curious. Wu Heng, now a hero, operating in a coastal city—what sort of serious matter could have arisen?
