Chapter 87: Chapter 87 I’m going to get mad if you keep this up!_1
"What are you talking about? How can this be acceptable? Susu is our precious treasure! I absolutely won’t let anyone question her birth!" Mrs. Qin’s face hardened as she vehemently rebuked.
"Mom, I’m just considering our family’s situation. I don’t want our family to be the subject of gossip when we’re out, nor do I want it to affect Yuhuai and the other kids’ future marriage prospects! I mean no disrespect to you!" Wang Qing explained.
Qin Xingzhi chimed in, "Dad, Mom, Aqing doesn’t mean anything else by it. She’s thinking of what’s best for our family. It’s just a matter of saying she’s adopted to outsiders, we all know the truth in our hearts, and it won’t have much impact."
"No way!" Mrs. Qin decisively objected, "If she’s born to us, she’s ours! How can we say she’s adopted? That would make others look down on our sweet girl! I absolutely disagree!"
"Exactly! Plus, I don’t think it’s something that people would laugh at! Like I said last night, she’s a blessing to our family! Those who can’t have kids of their own have no right to scoff at us!" Grandpa Qin’s attitude was just as firm.
To emphasize his point, his voice unwittingly rose a bit.
Susu was spooning rice paste when she suddenly realized that her parents and elder brother and sister-in-law were all unhappy, so she put down her spoon.
"Don’t fight!"
Susu said seriously with her little face stern, trying to mediate.
"Little darling..." Mrs. Qin looked at Susu worriedly, afraid that Qin Xingzhi and Wang Qing’s stance might have hurt her.
Mrs. Qin’s concerns were unnecessary; Susu wasn’t hurt at all.
Susu said to Qin Xingzhi and Wang Qing, "I am born to my mother and father! You better not say I’m adopted! Or I’ll be angry!"
The little one’s cheeks were puffed, and her soft, mushy voice had no trace of intimidation.
Though you could tell she was very serious and stern.
Qin Xingzhi felt charmed by her, and if the atmosphere weren’t so tense, he might’ve felt the urge to poke the little one’s cheeks.
Wang Qing didn’t take the little one’s words seriously either, still preoccupied with the angry grandparents.
Yet the attention of everyone else at the table had already shifted to Susu.
The argument from moments before didn’t matter now; what mattered most was how Susu felt.
"Don’t be angry, little darling," Mrs. Qin quickly coaxed.
"Yes, yes, yes, don’t be upset, my dear!" Grandpa Qin softened in an instant.
Qin Yuze also joined in the comforting, "Don’t be angry, Susu. My parents just need some time to adjust. They do like you!"
Even the usually reticent Qin Yuhuai joined in persuading Susu, "Let’s not get angry at the dinner table. It’s not good."
For Qin Yuhuai to express himself even this much was very rare indeed.
All four of them were coaxing Susu together.
Anyone who had been through it knew how terrible it was when the little one got angry.
Seeing their family members comforting the little one, Qin Xingzhi and Wang Qing were both confused.
It was understandable for their own parents, who certainly doted on the little girl since she was born late in their lives.
But why were both of their sons in such a rush to console her, too? It felt like the moment the little one got upset, the two brothers got anxious.
Susu’s little face was still stern, "But they said I’m not born to my mother and father!"
How could they say she wasn’t their own? She was upset!
