Chapter 159: Chapter 159: Uncle Bai Huzi is Shuyi_1

"It’s nothing." She just didn’t expect such a stark contrast in her, that determination to protect Susu.

Qin Yuhuai withdrew his gaze.

Sangzi didn’t quite understand; she wasn’t good at this kind of face-to-face communication and just felt incredibly awkward.

She prayed internally that they could reach their destination soon.

Two hours later, the car arrived at the entrance of Niujiakeng village; from there, they couldn’t drive any further.

Qin Yuhuai didn’t wake Susu immediately but instead carried her down from the car.

Following the navigation, Sangzi looked for the location while Qin Yuhuai, holding Susu, followed behind her.

Sangzi saw Qin Yuhuai’s movements were gentle and cautious, revealing a gaze of surprise.

It was a sharp contrast to his usually cold appearance.

She had thought his chilly demeanor meant he wouldn’t be good with children, but to her surprise, he was quite gentle.

Using the address, the trio arrived at a small bungalow halfway up the hill of Niujiakeng.

It was only at the door that Qin Yuhuai woke Susu.

"Susu, we’re here," Qin Yuhuai said, not realizing his voice was much softer than usual when calling out to Susu.

Susu rubbed her little fleshy hands over her eyes, opening her blurry sleep-filled eyes.

The just-awakened Susu lacked her usual domineering aura and instinctively snuggled into the person beside her.

Her little head nuzzled against Qin Yuhuai’s neck, and she snuggled in closer, much like a little kitten.

Qin Yuhuai felt like his heart had been struck hard.

The little one’s full-hearted reliance on snuggling in his arms made him momentarily forget what he was about to do.

After a good while, Susu was completely awake and then quickly hopped down from Qin Yuhuai’s embrace.

As soon as the little one left, Qin Yuhuai felt the emptiness in his arms, which extended to a feeling of emptiness within his heart as well.

"Little Susu, do you remember who this house belongs to?" Sangzi squatted down to ask Susu.

"I remember! Uncle Bai Huzi’s!" Susu responded immediately after glancing at the house.

"Who did you say?" Qin Yuhuai doubted he had heard correctly.

"Uncle Bai Huzi!" Susu repeated.

"Are you talking about the bearded uncle who came to our house last time?" Qin Yuhuai asked Susu for confirmation.

"Yes!" Susu nodded.

With a clear answer, Qin Yuhuai’s eyes narrowed, and the surprise in his eyes was obvious.

How could it be him...

That old man from last time...

Qin Yuhuai recalled the details of the encounter with the old man.

Could it be... the old man’s strange behavior that day was because... he didn’t want to be recognized by acquaintances at the hospital?

This outcome was something Qin Yuhuai hadn’t anticipated at all.

He had previously thought the old man’s behavior was strange and even suspected the man had ulterior motives.

But to think that this person was actually the renowned Shuyi!

And Shuyi turned out to be Susu’s good friend!

Saying this out loud, it’s doubtful anyone would believe it.

After giving her answer to Qin Yuhuai, Susu didn’t wait for him to recover and dashed into the bungalow.

"Uncle Bai Huzi! I’m gonna catch you!" Susu shouted at the empty house.

However, there was no one inside.

Susu ran around the house looking for someone.

Still no one.

"Why has Uncle Bai Huzi disappeared?" Susu asked.

"Could he have gone out?" Sangzi guessed.

"Unlikely," Qin Yuhuai said with a serious expression, "Everything that could be moved has been taken from the house. And the furniture is somewhat disordered."

"Could something have happened?" Sangzi immediately got nervous.

"Something happened? To Uncle Bai Huzi?" Susu hurriedly asked, her little expression clearly annoyed.
