Chapter 61: Brightfield Town

Kai decked out the carriage with a few more features along the way, giving it danger detection, auto defenses and weapons, speed travel mode, and even a flight travel mode. And the best part about all of this was that it came with the [Auto-operate] ability.

Currently, they were traveling at high speeds to Brightfield, avoiding trees, large rubble, other carriages, and everyone on the inside didn’t even feel how fast they were going. Hell, even the bumpy paths they were traveling on felt nice and smooth.

Since they had already started their journey halfway to Brightfield, it only took about an hour to arrive since the carriage was in speed mode.

Kai stuck his head out the window, smiling widely as he looked at the town in the distance. "Finally, we made it. Look at how beautiful those walls are! It’s been so long since we’ve been in a town!"

When they got to the gate, there wasn’t a long line to wait. In fact, more people were leaving than entering. While that wasn’t odd considering how many people travel, Kai still found it weird that the same number of people weren’t entering the town.

"Identification, please." A guard asked as Kai’s carriage pulled up.

"Here you go." Kai handed the guard four IDs. After a minute, the guard nodded and handed them back to him.

"Be careful during your stay here. A lot of people have been infected with the Blight plague. It’s not contagious, but just make sure if you see a person with pale-blue skin with veins bulging out of their face, avoid being scratched or bitten, or you’ll get infected."

"Thank you for your warning, sir." Kai tossed the man a gold coin.

"N-No, thank you for your generosity! It was my pleasure to be of aid to you!" The man bowed so hard that his head sank into the ground.

’Heh, people and the way they act when they get money. I don’t blame them, though. Having money sure is nice.’

Making their way through the town was something else. While it wasn’t gloomy or abandoned, you could tell people were on guard. They were simply handling business, nothing more, nothing less. If they weren’t, they were heading home or leaving the town.

"Well, this is where we part ways. Thank you for looking after us for all this time." Annabeth bowed.

"No worries, we’re friends now, so it was fun having you around. We’ll visit when we arrive at the capital sometime soon." Kai smiled.

Gwen said her goodbyes with Tyria and Annabeth, and they all went their separate ways.

"We should find an inn first. Judging by the state of the town, finding a place to stay might be hard."

Kai agreed. "After that, let’s go to the Adventurer’s guild to see what’s going on. Heck, this might be the chance to not only rank up but also find a new party member."

"Yeah, let’s do that."

’If there is a quest that allows us to take on the people with this Blight sickness, I’ll have us grind them, rack up a bunch of points, then level up Gwen to C-Rank in terms of stats. Since she’s already a Tier-2 mage, I should be able to share more than 100 points, as that restriction is only the baseline number when applied to a normal person.’

They walked around for a while, going from inn to inn, trying to find a room for their stay. Unfortunately, everywhere reached capacity, and no one had an opening.

Because of this, Kai and Gwen had to keep searching all over the town until they finally found one that was open and had rooms available.

"Why did this place have to be on the bad side of town, though?" Gwen asked, getting uncomfortable.

"It’s not on the bad side of town, it’s just close to it. We’ll be alright. The building doesn’t look run down either."

The two of them walked in and were greeted by a worker there.

"Welcome to The Wyvern’s Roost Inn, how may I help you today?" The woman asked. She looked no older than twenty.

"We’re here for a room. We’ll also pay for breakfast and dinner." Kai responded.

"Okay. Do you have a date set in mind for when you’ll leave, or are you staying with no definitive leave date?"

"The latter."

She nodded. "That will be 5 silver coins for everything each week of your stay."

"Five silver! Might as well rip us off!" Gwen shouted.

"I-I’m sorry if our prices might seem a little high." The woman dropped her head, looking down with a sad expression.

"Nah, it’s okay. I understand your predicament. Judging by where your inn is located, you probably don’t get as much business as you want and are only able to get enough to sustain the place. Also, because of the blight plague, things have been getting tougher since more and more people are leaving, and that means less business. So, this either means go into debt, close your business, or raise your prices. I completely understand."

The woman’s face brightened as Kai had broken down the Inn’s exact situation. "T-Thank you for understanding!"

"No problem." Kai handed her five silver coins. Then, he decacivated his charm concealer for a split second, but that second was all he needed to make the woman become infatuated with him.

She came instantly and couldn’t keep her eyes off his already beautiful face.

"Here, take this." He grabbed two gold coins and put his hand in her shirt, placing them in front of each tit.

"The right boob is for your boss, make sure to give it to them. The left boob is only for you. Do you understand?"

The woman nodded, not even caring that Kai just played with her boobs and they never even met before.

"Good." He kissed her lips. "Now, could you please show us to our room?"

"U-Um, yes. Y-Yeah, I’ll do so r-right away." The woman took one step forward, then tripped. Kai caught her and held her in his arms.

"Careful now, I wouldn’t want that pretty face of yours to be ruined."

The woman couldn’t contain herself, and she came like a waterfall, fainting after her orgasm was over.

"Damn. I didn’t expect that. Thankfully, no one is here in the lobby right now, or this would have been awkward."

Gwen rolled her eyes. "Let’s just grab a key and go to the room."

Kai nodded. "Good idea."
