However, Meltina is a Princess of Venefique.

Unlike Alucard, Venefique had long been traditionally an enemy country of Charalia.

Public perception of Venefique was drastically different from that of Alucard, and on top of that, Charalia had just recently suffered a direct attack from Venefian forces.

Some people even thought that Venefique was responsible for the Prisma's invasion. If people found out who Meltina is, some of them would undoubtedly plot something nefarious.

For that matter, Rochefort and Arles are also from Venefique. However, Arles is a Hyrule Menace, revered to be a Guardian Deity. While Rochefort is an exceptionally capable person possessing a Special Grade Rune.

There were probably some people who felt resentment towards them, but their overwhelming strength seemed to be enough to keep those people in check.

Meltina, on the other hand, didn’t have that quality.

“That’s why the principal asked us to look after her—because we already know her identity.”

Of course, Rochefort and Arles will help out, but Miliera wanted somebody from amongst the students to personally watch over the princess.

“I see… Well, we’ve been running into troubles with Venefique, after all—”

In fact, they just clashed with Venefique General Maxwell in Illuminus. If his power and abilities were turned against Charalia, the devastation could be just as catastrophic as the frozen Prisma’s incident.

“Well, I guess it’s true that trouble follows when the principal shows up. Fufufu… I’m fine with that.”

Not only was Princess Meltina now here, but even the Highlanders from Illuminus, like Mais and the others, were being welcomed at Vault Lake. In other words, there are a lot more potential conflicts around.

“ “ “That’s NOT fine!!” ” ”

Rafinha, Leone, and Liselotte said in unison.

“Alright, Meltina, you can sit over there~. Take the seat next to Rafinha~.”

As Miliera led her, Meltina made her way toward Inglis and the others.

“Everyone, I am truly indebted to you for what you did back then. You saved my life… I am sincerely grateful.”

Princess Meltina bowed deeply and expressed her gratitude with the utmost politeness.

“N-no, if anything… I’m sorry we couldn’t save the others!”

Rafinha bowed just as deeply, her voice heavy with guilt. It had been bothering her for a long time, it seemed.

She truly was a kind girl. Watching her like this, Inglis couldn’t help but smile. As expected, she was a granddaughter to be proud of.

“Please don’t blame yourself for it. Ultimately, it was my own weakness that led to their demise. I consider it their blessing that I am allowed to live on, and I will cherish this life for it.”

Princess Meltina said this with a gentle smile.

“I want to become stronger. So that something like that never happens before my eyes again, I must strengthen both my body and my heart… For that, I want to learn as much as I can here. Please teach me everything you can.”

“Of course we will! Right, Glis?”

“Yes, I will do everything I can to ensure you can spend your time here in peace.”

Princess Meltina’s circumstances were far from simple. She had been caught up in the internal power struggles of Venefique, ultimately losing and being sold off to Highland over it.

Even though she had been rescued, there was no place for her to return to in Venefique. After hearing her situation, King Charleas and Prince Wayne had entrusted her to Principal Miliera of the Knight Academy.

Depending on how things developed with Venefique in the future, Princess Meltina might become a key figure.

For instance, if Charalia were to launch an invasion towards Venefique, she could be made the nominal supreme commander. Instead of framing it as an invasion from Charalia, they could present it as Princess Meltina’s campaign to overthrow and liberate Venefique’s current regime, thereby reducing resistance from the Venefique populace—

From the nation’s perspective, she was a person worth protecting. Princess Meltina, having lost everything, likely couldn’t afford the steep tuition fees of the Knight Academy, but covering those costs entirely was a small price to pay.

The expenses for a single individual were negligible. If Inglis were in the position of King Charleas or Prince Wayne, she would have made the same decision.

“We’ll do everything we can to help, so don’t hesitate to ask us anything!”

“There will probably be a lot of things that surprise you, so be prepared…”

“…Well, she’s in for a surprise, indeed.”

“ “?” ”

Leone nodded to Liselotte’s warning, while Inglis and Rafinha looked at her in confusion.

Most likely, by lunchtime, Princess Meltina would be in for quite the shock. Thinking this, Liselotte offered her warning out of kindness. And then, after a few hours of classes, lunchtime arrived—

“Mmm! Today’s food is delicious too~♪ Meltina, this is Set A!”

“It’s delectable, yes.”

“This one is Set C. I really like this one.”

“I understand why. It is very good.”

Chomp, chomp, chomp, chomp!

Even while chatting, plate after plate was being devoured at an incredible pace. With the limited time of the lunch break, it almost seemed like a battle to see how much food they could consume.

“Ahhh, we don’t have enough vegetables!”

“There’s not enough meat either!”

“Eggs! Bread! None of it is enough!”

—Especially for the cafeteria ladies hustling around the kitchen. While they were indeed well-trained from constantly battling Inglis and Rafinha’s bottomless appetites—

“Alright, final sprint! Two more rounds of Sets A to E!”

“Then, I’ll have the same.”

“Me as well.”

To everyone’s surprise, Princess Meltina followed Inglis’ lead with a completely straight face.1

“Th-There are even more of them now…?!”

“I-I suppose birds of a feather flock together…”

Leone and Liselotte exchanged stunned glances, completely taken aback.

She was kicked out because she singlehandedly depleted the nation's budget with her endless appetite.
