The Handsome CEO Is My Husband -
Chapter 80
Chapter 80: Chapter 80
Liam stood behind Veronica, letting her walk ahead to test how far was good enough for her. He decided to be positive that this was fine. She didn’t like going on boats in the open water so walking like this should be fine.
"It’s cold," Veronica muttered, regretting not testing the water instead of just walking right in. "But it’s not bad. I am going further."
Veronica looked back to see that Liam was still behind her. His pants were soaked which he didn’t seem to mind. He was focused on her while she was focused on the water.
Veronica went further to where the water reached her knees. It was straying from being fun to a bit scary with how the small waves pushed against her body and she swayed when caught off guard by the waves coming in.
Panic was setting in as she thought of her dreams of drowning. There was something on the tip of her tongue for why she didn’t want to be in water but she couldn’t remember it.
Veronica touched her head, trying to make sense of the feeling she experienced. Something was right before her and she wouldn’t get any answers unless she went further.
"Veronica," Liam called, worried about how she stopped to touch her head.
"I don’t want to go back yet. Just a little more," Veronica replied.
Veronica went forward more until the water reached her waist. She got used to the water which started to feel perfect instead of cold. She continued to go deeper into the water but when the waves started to touch her face despite the water only reaching her chest, Veronica knew she was at her limit.
She didn’t like it here where a wave could come and splash her face.
Veronica turned around to go back to the and. She had come far enough for the first day.
When Veronica turned around, she came face to face with Liam. He was not pleased. Liam wasn’t able to hide his displeasure.
"I- Wait," Veronica grabbed his hand when the waves pushed her forward.
Did the sea have something against her? Why did it feel so rough now that she reached this point?
"Keep holding my hand," Liam said, letting Veronica go in front of him so he could block some of the waves colliding with her. "You did well for the first time. I’m proud of you."
"You look upset," said Veronica.
"I can be both. I can hate this idea and still be proud of you. It’s good you want to face one of your fears but as someone who knows you hate being out in the water like this, I can’t help but worry about you. You’re shaking," Liam noticed.
"Yea well that fear is still there," Veronica said, trying to stop it but she couldn’t. "The day I see my mother I should ask her. She might be so excited to think I want to repair our relationship to tell me about it."
Veronica started to relax the lower the water got. She was curious what would happen if she would be so bold to go under the water at least once but she didn’t have it in her to do it right now.
Veronica sighed in relief when they stood on the stand. "That was fun," she said, but her voice said otherwise. "But enough for today. I might use our pool until the next time we come back to the beach. I’m sorry about your clothes. I didn’t think I would go that far until I got in the water and wanted to do it."
"It’s fine but we’ll have to wait for our clothes to dry a little before we get in the car. How do you feel?" Liam asked.
"I feel like there’s something on the tip of my tongue but I don’t know what it is. I wouldn’t wish to lose your memories on my worst enemy. It is frustrating because some things feel familiar but you don’t know why. Should I just find a rock to hit my head with over and over again?" Veronica asked, ready to give up at this point.
"How about no? It’s fine if nothing comes back to you. Well, as long as you don’t want to divorce me. I’m all for anything except that. I will protect you and whatever you need to know, I will tell you or find out for you. We’re going to get the answer for what happened to you no matter how long it takes so don’t push yourself too much," Liam said.
He touched her face to try to warm her up but his hand was just as cold as Veronica’s.
"There’s something in your hair," Liam noted, leaning forward to get it out.
Veronica had that need again to kiss him but she stayed silent. She could just say it and get it from him but she felt too awkward to do it. She wished the times when he forgot about her memory loss and reached to kiss her would happen again because she would gladly meet him halfway to kiss him.
Liam flicked what stuck to her from the water to the side and noticed how she was lost in her thoughts. "Veronica."
"Y-Yes?" She looked up, afraid she had been caught thinking about kissing him.
"We should get you a towel to cover yourself with."
"Right," Veronica relaxed, relieved he didn’t have any idea what went on in her head. ’You’re so stupid,’ she scolded herself.
Liam would enjoy it if she just kissed him. There wasn’t any doubt about that but she was just too nervous to make the first move.
’Stop being so stupid. We’re married,’ Veronica said, building the courage to do it.
"Liam!" She called to him, closing the distance between where he was getting the towel and where she had stood at the edge of the water.
Liam looked around in fear that she had gone back into the water and hurt herself but he was surprised to see her coming toward him fast. He could only think of her wanting to dunk him in the water like she said earlier but she surprised him by pulling to lean down by his wet shirt to kiss him.
They were both equally surprised for the same reason.
Veronica let go of him, thinking she made a grave mistake of kissing him without any warning but Liam was first to come over the shock and take control before Veronica backed out of kissing him.
He had waited too long to kiss her and now that a chance came, he had to make the most of it.
