Evelyn noticed an anger that she had witnessed from Beth before. Henry would not believe her that it was there whenever she spoke about Veronica. She knew how much Beth loved her since she lost her parents and wanted a mother to fill what she missed but sometimes that love scared her.

Evelyn raised Beth more than she raised Veronica so what more could Beth want from her?

"Beth. Sweetie," Evelyn said in a sweet tone. "I am never going to leave you. You are like my daughter. Someone would have to be threatening me to leave you for me to think of doing that. You show me more respect than the daughter I birthed. As long as you allow me, I will be at your side."

Beth sighed in relief that she was not going to lose Evelyn to Veronica. "Good. What will we have for breakfast?"

"I don’t know what the cook is preparing. Beth, I will still be going to see Veronica today and whenever I feel like it," said Evelyn.

Evelyn loved Beth but she wouldn’t have Beth telling her if she could or couldn’t see Veronica. That was still her child and she was not done speaking to Veronica.

Beth wasn’t thrilled that Evelyn didn’t listen. Evelyn was just like Veronica sometimes. Evelyn had someone who could be a good daughter to her right there but she wanted more. She wanted to keep going to someone who wasn’t grateful.

"It’s because she has Liam, isn’t it? Veronica has money and I am barely hanging onto what my parents left me so you don’t think I’m useful. I treated you like you were my mother. I made you cards and bought you gifts every birthday while she ignored you," Beth argued.

What more did Evelyn need?

If Evelyn kept acting like this then Veronica was never going to see that she lost because Evelyn was chasing after her so much.

"Who do you love more? Me or Veronica?" Beth asked.

"I’m tired of these questions, Beth. I am already having a hard time with your uncle so please, don’t do this to me now," Evelyn said, starting to walk away from Beth.

"The only reason you get away from my uncle’s anger is because of me but if you don’t love me, why should I help you? I don’t understand why you need to keep chasing after someone who doesn’t love you. I love you so just love me," Beth pleaded.

Why should Veronica get to have a mother?

"Okay," Evelyn said, her heart softening when she saw that Beth was on the brink of tears.

It was good to see someone love her so much. Henry showed little love since he was so fixed on the building and Veronica would not come around. All she had was Beth so she understood why Beth was so angry.

Evelyn embraced Beth. "I am never going to leave you. I just need to speak to her for your uncle and then that will all be over with. I promise."

Beth hugged Evelyn tightly. It was good when Evelyn knew where she belonged. Still, she thought about Veronica. ’She should have died,’ Beth thought, once again wishing Veronica’s death had been announced.

If Veronica had died then Evelyn wouldn’t be thinking about her now or would she? Would Evelyn be crying over Veronica’s death? Regretting that they were not close and want to turn back time so she could take care of Veronica more?

Beth looked up at Evelyn, refusing to let her go before she had her answer. "Who do you love more?

Evelyn just needed to answer the obvious.

"I love the one who takes care of me every day now stop crying," Evelyn said, wiping away Beth’s tears. "You shouldn’t cry over this."

"Who is crying?" Henry asked as he joined the two. "Did you make her cry?" He accused Evelyn. She was doing everything wrong these days and he was at his limit with it.

"I did not," Evelyn replied. "You shouldn’t just point fingers. I told you to get rid of your anger. I am not the one buying the building so you can’t get it."

"No, it’s your daughter. I should have gone ahead with sending her out of the country so I wouldn’t be bothered by her. She wouldn’t have met Liam and he wouldn’t be coming after me. Better yet, you should have left her with her father," Henry said, regretting that he had not pushed for it in the past.

Evelyn didn’t respond. They had this conversation over and over again so she wasn’t in the mood to discuss this with him again. "Eat and then we will head out, Beth."

"I hope you are not going to spend any money. Do you think that just because I am not buying the building you can go back on your shopping sprees? I need to speak to my accountant and then my advisor to see where we go from here," said Henry.

"I wasn’t going to use your money. I have money left over from the interviews and I am not going to shop for myself. I think it is time that Beth seriously takes up modelling and I know someone who will get her off on a good start. We’re going today. Don’t you think she would be a big model?" Evelyn asked, trying to take the conversation off her.

Like always, Beth sided with Evelyn to calm down Henry. "If you don’t want me to go uncle then I will stay home. I don’t know if I have what it takes to be a big model."

"Nonsense," Henry disagreed with Beth. "Your mother was a rare beauty and so are you. Tell me how much money you need to get started and I will give it to you. It’ll be good to make you the face of our business so go out there today and make me proud."

"I will. I will work hard to bring in tons of money so you can buy any building you want. Just watch," Beth said, excited to take over the modelling world.

She would once again shine more than Veronica and have Liam see that he picked the wrong woman. Evelyn should also be happy when she sees how much money is coming in.

Henry couldn’t be angry now since this was good news. Seeing Beth smile reminded him of his brother. "I’ll take the two of you out to dinner tonight so be back at eight."

Beth turned to Evelyn, excited to go out. It was boring to stay inside all the time since they had to be careful with money. Her uncle didn’t see it yet but it was a blessing he was letting go of that building.

Evelyn had to thank Beth later since she saved her from putting up with Henry’s anger. She would keep Beth’s jealousy from Henry once again.
