Chapter 353- Fate Variability
Chapter 353: Chapter 353- Fate Variability
The dark type skill were abhorred by this world. However, in terms of pure power and effectiveness, they were completely on a different level from the skills used by Du Wen.
For every skill Chen Xuan used, Du Wen would have to fire two or even three more just to force out a draw. From this, one could tell how powerful the dark and chaos type skills are.
Of course, the cruel method and practice of using them cannot be denied. However, to Yang Chen all that matter not. If a skill was useful, he would use it. And right before his eyes, the superiority of dark and chaos type skills was laid bare.
"So the core the elder wanted me to destroy inside this huh" He looked at tumour in front of him. Although it was quite gross, the core could still be seen.
A core or the core stone was something that only a demonic beast possessed. Humans had no such things in their bodies. However, Yang Chen could see an actual living heart pulsing and thumping inside the core.
At this moment, his presence was hidden by an energy barrier and the other party had yet to notice him. As such, if he destroyed this core, the man named Chen Xuan would lose all of his powers and become helpless against the grand elder of the ancient sect.
The core was within his reach; if he just attacked, the core would be destroyed no doubt. However, the only reason he hadn’t done so was because of the system.
The [Map] showed Chen Xuan in a red marker just like Du Wen. However, therein lies the abnormality. This was the first time he had seen the [Map] behaving like this.
The marker that showed Chen Xuan, unlike Du Wen, flickered. It flickered between different colours, red, green and blue.
Red was shown for entities hostile to him, while green and blue are used for friendly and neutral entities, respectively.
For a single being to be shown in multiple colours, what was going on? Yang Chen looked at Amon, who was excitedly looking at the map too, waiting for his next move. Since the latter had not spoken yet, it was clear that his motive was to use this predicament to test him.
What’s more, his cynical side also showed that the situation was not completely hopeless. There was still a chance for him to survive this. And this chance, the key lay in the [Map]. More specifically, the marker that was depicting Chen Xuan.
Yang Chen fell into contemplation. A single being showing in multiple colours, this had never happened before. However, he did not doubt the system. Since it showed him that, there had to be some kind of variable. Variable that he was overlooking.
If he were to go by the interpretation that each of these colours represented, it meant that Chen Xuan was both his enemy, an ally or a neutral party. The flickering colours showed one of the possibilities.
A thought appeared in his mind... "Could it be... the flickering of colours in the marker represented a choice?".
Finally, the demon who seemed to have taken an unusual vow of silence opened its mouth.
"Correct, it was a good decision to make you think on your own. The possessor of the greedvil system must be quick witted at all times. He needs to know how to respond to any unexpected situation"...
"The marker currently displaying on the [Map] is one of this situation. The reason why you have never seen something like this before is because you were never in such a situation. As you said, this represents a choice. The flickering of colours shows the variability in fate"...
"Depending on your actions, that Chen Xuan could become your enemy, ally or a neutral party. Everything will depend on your actions next".
Variability in Fate... his actions will decide his fate. Yang Chen finally understood everything. It was not that the system was busted, it was just showing his unpredictable fate.
"So are you going to destroy that core?" Amon posed a question.
Destroying the core, this presented one of his choices. If he destroyed the core, Chen Xuan would no doubt consider him his enemy. The marker would turn red. However, if he didn’t destroy the core, there is a possibility that Chen Xuan would become his ally or a neutral party.
The decision was with him; in the end, the system was telling him to choose between Du Wen and Chen Xuan.
On one hand, he had the Grand Elder of the ancient sect, a devout follower of the righteous sect who promised to pass his inheritance to him and on the other, he had this guy named Chen Xuan, a demonic cultivator who laid waste to this prosperous sect hundreds of years ago.
From anybody else’s perspective, the decision should be obvious. Which party he should side with. However, the Greedvil systems provided him with map whose one of the functions revealed the displayed being’s disposition towards him.
Since the Grand Elder’s marker was a big round red, it was definitely because the other party was hostile or held killing intent towards him. Siding with Du Wen will only get him killed.
Forget about the inheritance, he was starting to believe that this old fox was harbouring some kind of devious plans towards him. Just because the latter was from an upright sect, it did not mean that their nature could not be evil.
This left by the process of elimination the Demonic Cultivator named Chen Xuan. However, given the other party’s history and cruel actions, there was no doubt that they were evil too.
"Have you made your decision?"...
"Yeah, there was only one choice since the beginning"
Yang Chen grinned. Never doubt the system; this was an ironclad rule that he came to believe over time.
"Kfufu... so what are you going to do?" Amon questioned. The previous plan was to destroy Chen Xuan’s score while Du Wen was distracting him. However, that plan no longer seemed feasible now.
"I will kill Du Wen"...
