The Greatest Disciple of the Evil Sect
Chapter 350- Grand Elder (2)

Chapter 350: Chapter 350- Grand Elder (2)

"What kind of inheritance did the ancient sect keep here?" He spoke to himself before plunging down.

SLAM... just before he hit the ground, he decelerated himself using soul energy and landed on his feet.

He knew the underground chamber was big; however, now that he was standing here, he realised that the exterior was just a deception. The place was much bigger on the inside.

"There is nothing in the fifty meters area near me" Yang Chen looked at the [Map].

The place was completely empty with only darkness present. Speaking of darkness, he realised that the space had unnatural blackness to it. It was as if black smoke was rolling in inside every corner of this place, evoking the feeling of eeriness within one.

"I guess the inheritance is further inside the chamber"

With such thought, he started heading deeper. In this endless space of darkness where there is nothing in sight and no way of telling the direction, it weighed over one’s mind and conscience heavily.

To make matters worse, the eerie stillness of this place evoked even more dread in people.

Having said that, it might have worked on others, but Yang Chen was completely desensitised to such things. For him, solitude and loneliness were nothing new. Having lived a good many years in that dark room of that hospital, there was nothing this place could do that would evoke any dread from him.

DING... at this moment, there was an unusual response from his [Map]. Looking at the screen, he saw a huge red marker slowly blinking not far from him.

"This..."

Yang Chen’s expression changed. Usually, a red marker on the map meant that the other party was hostile. However, this was the first time he saw his map display such a big marker.

What’s more odd was that it was blinking. At times, it was there and at times it wasn’t. What was going on?

He found Amon’s silence in this matter baffling. Usually, when it came to the system, he would be the first one to defend it. Yet now he was awfully quiet.

"What do you want me to say? I am as blank as you".

Ignoring Amon who was obviously trying to hide something, he looked at the [Map]. A red marker and one that was this big, obviously meant that there was grave danger ahead. Usually, he would take a detour or retreat at the first sign of such danger.

However, in this place, there was no exit. The only way was forward. Since this was created by the ancient sect to pass on their inheritance, there had to be some kind of catch here.

"Do I need to walk towards whatever that thing is?"

There was no response from Amon; however, he already knew the answer. Bracing himself for the worst, Yang Chen proceeded forward.

After walking some distance, the source of the marker finally appeared in front of his eyes. It was the corpse of a cultivator. The corpse was seated cross legged and appeared to have signs of having fought an intense battle.

When he was just a few meters away from the corpse, a light flashed into the hollow sockets of the corpse and a powerful pressure that could destroy anything, descended onto the place.

In front of that pressure, Yang Chen was immediately frozen in place, unable to even breathe. Sweat trickled down his back and caution flashed in his eyes.

"Haha, you don’t need to be on edge so much. The fact that you are here means that you have passed all the trials and have come here to receive the inheritance of our sect".

The corpse spoke good naturedly, trying to disperse his caution.

"I know it feels unusual to see a corpse talking. However, there was no other way. As you can see, I’m just a half alive, half dead man hanging in the balance for the sole purpose of passing on the inheritance of our sect"...

"The fact that you took the gate leading to me, means that we are fated. My long wait is now over, I can pass on my inheritance to you and finally move on from this torturous state".

Although it might just be his imagination, but Yang Chen saw a vague silhouette of what the corpse looked like when it was alive.

Long white hair and clothes, he had a handsome face and a dignified look. His body was robust and he held a gentle smile on his face as he looked at Yang Chen.

"My name is Du Wen, you can also call me the white eyed elder" At his mention, Yang Chen noticed that the man really had unusual white eyes.

"Elder, are you the sect master of this ancient sect?" he cupped his hands and asked.

Du Wen laughed before shaking his head "I am not. The name of our sect master is Mo Xincheng. Haha, are you disappointed that my inheritance won’t be as great as his?"

It was as if the elder could read his thoughts.

"I may not be the sect master, but I am the one who taught him. I am the Grand Elder of this once prosperous and powerful sect. Haha, how about now? Does my inheritance seem impressive now?"

Yang Chen nodded his head. An inheritance from someone who was the teacher of the sect master of such a powerful sect, it was bound to be beyond impressive.

Du Wen laughed, seeing through his thoughts.

"Elder, you mentioned about the inheritance. Does that mean that I am qualified to receive yours?"...

The latter nodded his head, still wearing that gentle smile "Yeah, the rune plate on your hand corresponds to the rune I laid in my heavenly abode. Without it, you wouldn’t be able to enter. So the fact that you picked up that rune plate shows that we are fated. Besides, you have passed through numerous trials of the sect to reach this place. That alone makes you qualified".

So that was the case, Yang Chen understood now.
