Chapter 298- Sandworms
Chapter 298: Chapter 298- Sandworms
"What do you mean?"...
"It’s just as it means, the coordinates of the rifts wasn’t stable as such, it teleported everyone who entered all around the place. You are fortunate that lass was right behind you and was teleported in the same place. Or else, it would have taken a long time to find her and our plan would have gone awry" the demon explained.
So that was the case, Yang Chen nodded his head. This place was truly mysterious.
"Hey, who are you talking to?" Tang Xun’er by the side questioned. Anyone would when they saw someone talking to the air all of a sudden.
"Ah, I was just talking to myself".
"You two, stop talking nonsense and move away from here. There are too many people gathered, it would not be surprising for things to escalate and a fight to break out. You guys don’t wanna get caught up in it" Yun’s voice suddenly interrupted.
Just as he said, as soon as these many people who were randomly teleported here arrived, a battle became evident. Not everyone besides them was an ally and there were many people who had formed an enmity with each other since before entering this space.
BANG... one of the practitioners employed his battle and attacked one of the people. In response, that person also utilised his own abilities to counter.
BANG... BANG...
a full scale fight broke. Seeing this, others who also had enmity with each other started fighting and soon, the entire area became chaotic with fights breaking out everywhere.Fortunately, heeding Yun’s words, they moved away from the place in time. Thus saving themselves from getting embroiled in the chaos.
On top of a hill, Tang Xun’er patted her chest and sighed in relief "We are safe now"...
"About that, it remains to be seen if we are safe or not"
Yang Chen shook his head and looked at the ground in concern. He had used his map earlier which had notified him of multiple hostile presences nearby. These presences were not from the practitioners but from something else.
"What do you mean?" Tang Xun’er didn’t have to wait for an answer as the answer showed itself in front of her the next second.
BOOM... ground trembled, displacing large volumes of sand around. What emerged from the ground was an enormous worm with a length of more than twenty meters.
It had a huge hideous mouth that was dotted with sharp teeth and spikes all around its body. The moment it emerged from the ground, it quickly swallowed a few of the unfortunate practitioners who were in the vicinity.
The next second, alarm cries rang out and the practitioners quickly discontinued their battles. The emergence of the demonic beast had caught everyone’s attention and they all started attacking it together.
However, this was when things started getting even more complicated. Ground shook and large swathes of sand mounds appeared from the ground before revealing themselves to be more worm type demonic beasts.
The appearance of just one caused the practitioners to panic now that a whole bunch of them showed their place, one could imagine the scene. All hell broke loose as practitioners got swallowed here and there.
Some fought, some died, while others ran away in every and all direction.
"These are?" Standing on the hill, Tang Xunler asked with a pale face.
"They are demonic beasts who live at the depths of the ground called the Sandworms. They are extremely territorial and cannibalistic and wouldn’t hesitate to kill their own just to feed themselves. Since they can live for a long time, they must have been left behind by the people of the ancient sect to guard this realm. Be careful, one is headed towards you"
Yun explained the origins of this monster. Midway, his words turned into caution.
Yang Chen and Tang Xun’er did not dare to disregard his caution and immediately moved from the place.
Just as they moved away, the ground there trembled and a sandworm revealing its dark hideous mouth, emerged.
"Shall we run?"
Yang Chen had a fair bit of experience now. He had travelled through a couple of jungles and treacherous places to know when to avoid things and went to not. And right now, it was definitely not the time to tussle with a demonic beast especially one that was as powerful as the creature in front of him.
They had just entered the space and hadn’t even scouted the area. In a situation where they did not know where they were and what kind of trials lay ahead, it was an extremely foolish choice to expend one’s strength.
"Why do we need to run? If you and I combine our strength, we should be able to bring this thing down?"
But of course, not everyone had the same level of experience. Tang Xun’er’s naïve self reminded him of his past self quite a bit. She was the pampered princess of a clan true, but she was not a coward.
"He is right in this case, avoiding the demonic beast is the right choice. Unfortunately, you guys had to be teleported to the area inhabited by the sandworms. Unless one knew how to fly, it is impossible to run away from such a demonic beast as they could track you through the soundwaves of your footsteps. The fastest way out of here would be to defeat the sandworm" Yun advised.
It seemed like they cannot avoid a fight with the sandworm. Since that was the case, there was no reason to dilly dally.
Yang Chen quickly roused his battle energy. His aura that was more full and denser than that of most four and Five Star Battle Grandmaster even while being a Three Star Battle Grandmaster, caused Tang Xun’er to be quite shocked.
Nevertheless, she did not just stand around observing, she invoked her own strength. Immediately the aura that could only come from a Seven Star Battle Grandmaster, emanated out of her body.
Yang Chen glanced at her once before turning his head away.
"Let’s go" With those words the two of them charged.
