After a while of waiting outside the door, there was finally some movement. The door was pushed open and a dignified voice came from the inside telling everyone to come in.

One by one all the people waiting outside walked in with measured steps. Yang Chen too followed suit and walked in.

The hall one was not much different from his imagination, it was a large circular room with twenty or so desks methodically placed at the centre.

The floor and walls looked like they were made of some resilient material, capable of enduring even an explosion. As there was a high chance for the Novice Alchemist’s cauldron to explode due to a miscalculation, it was a precaution to make sure all the impact was absorbed by the floor.

Running along the periphery of the walls, there was also a gallery providing seats overlooking the arena from a higher vantage point.

And then there was the simple rectangle table at the head of the room where two dignified and elderly figures sat. Their gaze which carried strong soul fluctuations, landed on Yang Chen and the others.

"Settle in fast, the Tier 1 Alchemist certification exam will now begin" The elder seated on the right, got up and started explaining about the rules.

"Fourthly and lastly, there is no place for cheating. If any person is found cheating, they would be immediately failed and will no longer be able to participate in the exam for the year. Are you all familiar with the rules? If so, then let’s begin the exam".

After he finished talking, he waved his sleeve and a large hourglass rose from the ground and appeared in front of everyone.

"Blue Veined Grass Stalk, a ten year old ginseng and Spirit Mushroom" Having refined a lot of tier 1 pills he easily identified these ingredients. Although they are not rare ingredients they are used quite commonly in tier 1 pills.

"Since it’s these three ingredients, then the pill they are telling us to refine is..." Yang Chen quickly found the pill recipe on the second shelf.

"As expected, it’s the Profound Strengthening Pill"

A Profound Strengthening Pill, is a very basic tier 1 pill that is taken by a cultivator at the beginning of their cultivation. It purifies their body and boosts their cultivation. Usually, this kind of pill is fed to a newborn who has yet to start cultivating.

For the tier 1 alchemist exam to be this kind of pill, Yang Chen was a little letdown. It was no wonder that he did not find it challenging after all, refining a tier 1 pill has become a second nature to him.
