Chapter 175- Hunting Bandits

Chapter 175: Chapter 175- Hunting Bandits

When he headed to the Star Fall Jungle on his first day of reincarnating in this world, he got the same look from the bystanders. The look that said he was a madman or that he had a death wish.

All that said, it did not matter to Yang Chen what they thought and he soon disappeared inside the mountains with measured strides.

The air grew heavy and dense as one ventured deeper. The path that Yang Chen followed was rugged and overgrown, surrounded by twisted trees and gnarled roots.

Shafts of fading sunlight sliced through the thick canopy, casting an eerie crimson glow that painted the landscape. The silence here was palpable and the only sound here was the occasional rustling of leaves and the distant calls of demonic beasts.

The danger here gnawed at one’s mind, making one stand on edge at every second and moment and wondering what would come out of the bushes. The tension alone would drain one out of their energy.

However, Yang Chen who had the aid of the [Map] with him, was very laidback as he wandered through the vast jungle of the mountain.

Having lived in the Star Fall jungle for a couple of months, the atmosphere here felt very natural and familiar to him. From his experience, he knew how to avoid making noise and acclimate to his surroundings.

Plus, thanks to the improved senses of his body and the [Map] that alerted him of every living presence in a thirty meters area, whether hostile or neutral, he could easily make his way inside without alerting a single presence.

"This was easier than I thought" Yang Chen commented after finding a secluded spot to rest.

"That’s given, not everyone has a [Map] like you. By the way, what are you doing?" Amon asked seeing Yang Chen take out the rations he prepared for the journey and set up a fireplace.

"What am I doing? Of course, I am helping my stomach. One cannot fight empty stomach after all. Moreover, the bandits around this part of the mountain are only the lackeys. Instead of trying to hunt them one by one, it is more efficient if I gather their attention through the fire and lure their group over".

On his way here, Yang Chen had noticed that the strength of the presence he encountered here was only around Eight to Nine Star Battle Apprentice.

These presences had to be the lackeys and the real leaders must be further inside the mountain range. They were his real targets, the real experience farm.

However, Yang Chen knew that going in blindly was a foolish idea. The days in the Star Fall Jungle had taught him more than just ways to survive in an extreme environment, it taught him how to hunt and climb his way up the food chain.

That is why, before he started his exp grinding, he had to know about his targets, their strengths, numbers and weaknesses.

There had to be a reason why the bandits were able to establish themselves in the mountain range and why the clans around these parts of the Yan City were unable to clear them out. If it was so easy to annihilate them, they would never be able to create the atmosphere of dread and fear amongst the people and inhabitants here.

The band of bandits have to be on a level that is equal to or higher than clans such as the Zhang clan or the Liu clan from the Mist City.

And so, he was going to use the lackeys to learn about his targets. However, that said, he couldn’t just interrogate them one by one, since doing so would be a huge waste of time. Thus he used the fire to gather them in groups.

Yang Chen’s purpose behind starting a campfire was to attract the lackeys who carried the information he needed and deal with them in one fell swoop.

Of course, he could have gone about doing things some other way. But Yang Chen who had many elusive and stealth skills, not to mention the [Map] had no reason to fear alerting the bandits of his presence.

And so, after setting up the fireplace, Yang Chen took out chunks of meat and started grilling them over the fire.

"Hmm, it had been more than a day. Why am I not receiving any mischief points?" Yang Chen turned to question the demon floating around him.

The news about the Zhang clan’s destruction should have spread to every corner of the city by now and since the system rewarded even for the subsequent chain reactions of his action, he should be flooded by notification of him receiving mischief points by now.

However, far from it, he did not even get a single notification yet.

"That is because nobody knows you are behind the destruction of the Zhang clan. Since you attacked them at night and used the [Silent Sanctuary] to keep all the noise in check, nobody in the entire cloud city should be aware that you are the perpetrator"

"As such, even though the Greedvil system gives points for the chain reaction, if nobody blames you, you won’t get any points" Amon answered lazing around.

"That aside, by now you should have an idea why I brought you here right?"...

"Isn’t it because in the Fallen Mountain Range I can hunt the bandits and gather experience points quickly" Yang Chen replied munching down on a piece of meat.

"That’s not all of the reason. Why I mentioned this is the perfect place for you to train is because you can practice all of your Dark and Chaos attribute battle skills here. On top of raising your level, you should also focus on increasing the completion rate of your battle skills side by side"

Amon told him the actual reason for choosing the fallen mountain range for his training.

"Now that you mentioned it, I remember you telling me not to use Dark or Chaos attribute battle skills in front of people. Why is that?"
