Chapter 162: Chapter 162- Zhang Clan’s Darkest Night (2)
"Hmm... it looks like you are determined to carry out this mission. Alright, when are you going to act?" Amon asked thinking something in his head.
"Tonight" Yang Chen replied with a single word.
"I see, then there is something I want you to do before that" Amon asked Yang Chen to return back to the inn where he stayed the last time before opening the Greedvil System.

Time flew by and soon the darkness descended. At midnight as the moon hung high in the night sky, it cast a silvery glow over the silent Cloud City.
The entire city was quiet as everyone turned in for the day, except for Zhang clan manor which was the only place that was lively with activity.
Servants scurried about, attending to the needs of the clan members, while guards maintained a watchful presence, patrolling the area to ensure the clan’s security.
None of them could imagine that today would be their darkest night and by the sunrise tomorrow, the prosperous Zhang clan, the tyrant of the cloud city would be history.
Inside the grand and opulent Zhang clan hall, the air was thick with tension and anticipation. The elders had gathered for an important meeting, their faces masked with seriousness as they discussed the clan’s affairs.
The flickering candlelight cast eerie shadows across the walls, adding an air of mystique to the atmosphere.
THUNK... suddenly an elder seated on his seat, threw away the glass that was in his hand.
"Dammit... all of those doctors are useless. They can’t even do a single thing. How long are we going to keep taking these pills? Is creating an antidote for the poison that hard?"
He spat in anger, battle energy leaked out of his body cracking the floor around him.
"Calm down third elder, rousing your battle energy will only hasten the effects of the poison. Before we find a permanent antidote for this poison, we must suppress it with oue battle energy"
The one to speak this time was the second Elder. Just like everyone else in the hall, he too had a pale face wrought with pain as he tried to suppress the poison inside him.
"Were we able to find that bastard Alchemist yet? Where the hell is he hiding? Wouldn’t all of our problems get solved once we find that rascal?" the third elder questioned again.
"Not yet, I have sent all members who are able to move and have yet to be afflicted with the poison. However, they are yet to find any clue. That Alchemist is quite meticulous, he left no leads around"
The one to answer him was the fifth Elder. His words caused the atmosphere of the hall to turn even more grim. As evident by their words, the Zhang clan is currently going through a great crisis ever since the founding of their clan.
A few days ago, out of nowhere, clan members suddenly started falling down with an illness. It was not one or two people but multiple of them. When diagnosed by the local doctors it was soon found out that the cause was a poison.
This caused an uproar among the clan. Needless to say, they knew who was the perpetrator behind this. The alchemist, since they were the only one who could do something like this.
The Alchemist had not only repaid their sincerity and kindness with maligance but he had also taken advantage of the moment to cripple their First Elder who was injured.
The latter’s meridians were permanently destroyed and they lost all of their cultivation. It was no longer possible for them to live a life of practioner.
It was irreversible, all of the doctors who diagnosed the First Elder, threw the towel in defeat saying that it was beyond them and that it couldn’t be repaired.
The inside of the first elder was in such a mess that they had never seen something like this before. Losing the first elder who was one of the pillars of their clan, was a huge blow to their morale, as could be seen from the faces of the Elders.
"Whatever pill the alchemist fed to the First Elder, only they can reverse it" the second elder muttered.
"I have sent a few members to the Alchemist Association branch in the Yan City, we should be able to find some information about this Alchemist who did all this to us, soon".
"Once we catch him, see how I make him spill out the antidote and make him regret making enemies with us" the third elder who was the most temperamental out of all of them, spoke while clenching his hands into fists.
With their First Elder crippled and several of their members down, the Zhang clan was facing an unprecedented existential crisis all due to a single person. It was only natural for them to close all of their borders and restrict any entry.
After all, if the news about them being in a weakened state gets leaked who knows what the other two clans who wanted their position would do? They would definitely not sit still and make use of this moment which was the perfect opportunity to strike them.
The situation of the Zhang clan was so serious that it necessitated their clan leader, Zhang Zhehan to step out of his cultivation.
"Fortunately, there is a silver lining in all of this. Thanks to the second elder quickly identifying the source spreading the poison, we could minimise the damage" Zhang Zhehan spoke directing his gaze towards the second elder.
The latter wasn’t so pleased to hear the praise, after all, he was the person who allowed the wolf inside their barn and this was the result of it.
Thankfully, he was able to redeem himself by eliminating the source of the poison, the flowers that were planted in the garden on the instructions of the Alchemist.
The second elder remembered that the alchemist specifically asked for these seeds to be planted in the garden.
