Chapter 146- Zhang Fei
Chapter 146: Chapter 146- Zhang Fei
"Young Friend Yang Yan, there is still around a month of time before you head over to the academy. How about you come with us and live in our Lin Clan manor during this time? Our Lin clan welcomes you with open arms and will show you the greatest of hospitality".
Lin Mang spoke, wanting to deepen the relationship between their clan and Yang Chen.
"That won’t be necessary. Since I might have some business to attend to, I cannot accept Elder Lin Mang’s goodwill. Please drop me near the city gates, I will go my own way from there".
Though he was rejected by Yang Chen who was in no mood for receiving any hospitality.
"I see... in that case, I will not stop young friend Yang Yan..".
Lin Mang relented and leaned back in his seat. The journey continued in the silence of the night.
After a while, just as the carriage reached a relatively secluded area with hills and trees all around, Yang Chen’s eyes which were shut closed, suddenly sprang open.
The reason for that was because his senses which had been sharpened to their limits after he changed his constitution, felt an ominous feeling that was quickly becoming heavier.
What was going on?
"Oi host, quickly open the [Map] it looks like we have company" Amon materialised beside Yang Chen and cautioned.
Yang Chen did as he was told and immediately opened the [Map]. With the increase in his strength, the feature of the map that showed him all living entities in a twenty meter radius had increased to thirty.
That is why, he could tell that there were hostile entities marked by red markers just ahead of them.
As if to prove that right, the horse drawing the carriage neighed and the carriage came to a sudden stop.
"What is going on?" Lin Mang sprang up from his seat. It should still take them a couple of hours more to reach the city, the carriage wasn’t supposed to stop till then, so why?
Lin Mang didn’t have to think for long as the reason announced themselves.
"Elder Lin, the road ahead has been blocked by bandits" The carriage driver who was outside, spoke with a voice full of dread.
"What bandits? They dare stop the carriage of my Lin clan?" Lin Mang enraged by the audacity of the bandits, stomped out of the carriage while leaving a few words of instructions for everyone.
"You all stay inside, I will quickly take care of the bandits". The three inside nodded their heads giving their silent assent.
"Be on your guard, that guy alone won’t be able to stop them. After all, they are not your ordinary bandits" Amon stated.
"Yeah I know, they must have come here to kill us all".
Outside, a fierce clash capable of cracking the very ground they were standing on, had erupted. Lin Mang and a figure draped in a dark grey robe clashed several times with each other, exchanging their battle skill moves.
"Hmph, it doesn’t matter even if you struggle. You all are destined to die here just like that driver" the grey robed person snorted while pointing at a body lying in a pool of blood. That body belonged to none other than the driver of their carriage.
"Bastard" Lin Mang spat in frustration and hurriedly channelled his battle energy in a particular way. Immediately a deep yellow aura started forming around his fists, roaring with an intensity of a lion.
[Lion’s Roar Fist] He shouted in his heart and rushed toward the bandit intending to smash the latter into smithereens.
The Lion Roar Fist was a Low Tier Sky Grade battle skill and a prized possession of their Lin Clan. It was an explosive attack type battle skill that accumulates all the battle energy inside the user and channels them towards their fist in a deadly and fierce fashion.
That was not all, when used along with the Extreme Lightning Movement, which was another prized battle skill of their lin clan, the [Lion’s Roar Fist] displayed its true power.
Swift and explosive, with lightning arching across Lin Mang’s feet, he stepped towards the bandit and punched forth.
ROAR... the wind around his fist whistled like the roar of a lion.
Facing Lin Mang’s attack, the Bandit did not try to dodge nor did he move from his place. "Lin Clan’s prized Sky grade battle skills. I must say they are quite powerful. However, compared to our clan’s [Lion’s Fury Attack], it is nothing"
The bandit remarked. Immediately, dark yellow aura taking the image of a lion for a second, erupted forth from his body and encased him in it.
ROAR... another lion’s roar that was not any weaker than the first resonated, across the place.
BANG... Both attacks collided and Lin Mang was forced to take a couple of steps back. After he stabilised his body, he looked back at the bandit who was also forced to take a couple of steps back, in shock.
"That skill?!! Can it be... Who are you?" Lin Mang inquired. The battle skill that the bandit used was definitely of a high grade.
However, the reason why Lin Mang was shocked was because it resembled a skill from a clan that he was very familiar with.
"Haha, Lin Mang it looks like your strength did not improve much. To think that you are still in the One Star Battle Master stage even after all these years, it looks like you have neglected your training"
The bandit wearing a dark grey robe, pulled up his hood and showed his face. A familiar appearance came into view, the person hiding under the robe was none other than...
"Zhang Fei?!! I should have known you wouldn’t leave us alone. However, I didn’t think the Zhang clan would fall as low as to attack us in such despicable ways".
Zhang Fei was the Fourth Elder of the Zhang clan who brought the two participants from their clan for the entrance test.
"Hmph, say what you want. The victor is always the one who survives in the end. I wouldn’t have to resort to this if only those two useless fools had done their job properly".
