Now that the test was over and the night had descended onto the place, it was time to disperse this gathering. However, before that Elder Han Xuan felt it necessary to give out one last announcement.

The participants that failed the test, raised their heads and listened attentively, their eyes meeting Elder Han Xuan’s gaze.

Lin Mang extended his hospitality. Why would he not, thanks to this youth who saved their young miss from the evil schemes of the Zhang clan, she even secured a star participant position in the entrance test.

Even if he tried to, Lin Mang couldn’t express how grateful and excited he was feeling.

While Yang Chen and Lin Mang were having a conversation, Lin Huiyin gracefully approached them and posed a question.

"You see, I made an agreement with Young Master Yang Yan here to protect young miss after I learned that the Zhang clan was making some scheme to hinder young miss".

When Lin Huiyin heard everything, it was as if her body had frozen in place. With her attractive golden eyes trembling fiercely she turned towards Yang Chen.

Seeing him nod in confirmation, a paleness appeared on her otherwise beautiful face.

"So all this was just a transaction for you? You saved me from those Zhang clan participants because it was a part of your deal?! I... this..."

With a face full of shock, Lin Huiyin turned around and left.

’What is up with her?’ Yang Chen wondered. However, he had no time to be concerned about others when his own life was at risk. As such, he didn’t think too much about Lin Huiyin’s unusual behaviour.

When the carriage arrived, all of them got onto it and left for the city. Just like the instance of their arrival, their departure too was also a silent one. Nobody spoke a single word while inside the carriage.

Only the sounds of the horses racing through the cobblestone paved road and the turning of the wheels could be heard.

’I thought that by going through the test together, they would have become familiar with each other. However, forget being familiar, why is that I’m sensing that the both of them became more distant?’

Lin Mang who was caught in between this torturous silence, couldn’t help but sigh. He can understand why Lin Dan was all silent; however, why were the other two also like that?

Shouldn’t they be excited and celebrating their achievements? After all, both of them were the star participants and were going to join the Holy Orchard Academy in a month.

"Haha, young miss I’m sure the clan leader is eagerly waiting at the manor to hear your results. Once he knows that you exceeded his expectation and became one of the star participants, he will surely be very proud".

Lin Mang tried to diffuse this uncomfortable silence. However, his attempts were met with failure as Lin Huiyin only slightly nodded her head and refused to look away from the window.

Having perceived her intention, Lin Mang turned towards Yang Chen, the youth who he only met by coincidence but had become the beacon of hope for their clan.
