Quite a number of groups had already gathered near the stone pedestal. A lot of youths along with their clans and elders, could be seen.

From the undulation of the auras that their bodies emitted from time to time, Yang Chen could tell that most of them were around the Eight Star Battle Apprentice level.

This was the bare minimum benchmark that one needed to fulfil to participate in this entrance test and also the level that made them the genius of their clans. The four of them came to a stop near an area that was specifically reserved for the Lin clan.

Even if this clan was suppressed by the Zhang clan, they were still somewhat of a powerhouse around this region. Yang Chen was a little impressed, this area was right near the stone pedestal and compared to the areas the other clan around them got, this was quite big.

"Let me inform you about the clan and participants that you all need to be careful of. Do you see that eagle spreading its wings on the clothes of those people? They are the Liu clan from the mist city. They are the overlord of that city and bring out some decent participants every time".

"The youth you see standing in front of all the participants from their clan, is rumoured to be the greatest genius of their clan. He has reached the Nine Star Battle Apprentice at just fifteen years of age and would be quite an opponent for this year’s entrance test. Especially for you Lin Dan, you tend to get quite careless when facing an opponent you believe is weaker than you".

Lin Mang cautioned Lin Dan who had a haughty attitude as he gazed at the geniuses of the other clan.

"Hmph, so what if he reached the nine star battle apprentice at fifteen years of age? He is still not my opponent" Lin Dan retorted. He had the ability to match his boasting, after all, he was not any inferior than that participant from the Liu clan when he was fifteen.

"Besides... why aren’t you cautioning this guy more than me. From what I can see, he doesn’t look as strong as even the normal participants from the Liu Clan. Are you sure Elder Lin Mang that he will not hold us back?" Lin Dan pointed at Yang Chen and said in a condescending manner.

The latter simply narrowed his eyes and did not mind much. He knew where the other party’s confidence was coming from.

Lin Dan was a Nine Star Battle Apprentice practitioner, who had one foot into the Battle Master rank. This gave him the confidence to look down on all the participants.

That being said, Yang Chen was not so nice to allow others to look down on him. He would have shown the other party their place had they not been in the same team.

For this mission, Yang Chen cannot jeopardise his relationship with the Lin Clan by harming one of their participants. As such, no matter how annoying this guy was, Yang Chen had no choice but to bear with him for the time being.

’Hmph, let’s see how far that Nine Star strength of yours takes you’ he snickered internally. The deal he had with the Lin Clan only stated about him helping the young miss of the clan and not the other participants.

Therefore, even if Lin Dan asked him for help later on, Yang Chen was simply going to ignore the latter in front of his face.

"You don’t have to worry about that. Young Friend Yang Yan is someone capable enough to hold his own in this entrance test. You on the other hand get carried away often so you should listen well".

Lin Mang reproached. A peal of suppressed laughter came from Lin Huiyin causing the face of Lin Dan to turn flush red in embarrassment.

Since he couldn’t do anything to Lin Huiyin, he instead turned towards Yang Chen and glared at him.

"Oh?! If it isn’t Lin Mang and the participants from the Lin Clan" Just as Lin Mang was about to introduce the other clans and participants, a voice that sounded familiar to Yang Chen’s ears sounded out from behind.

Two youths with a middle aged man leading them, walked towards them from their area.

"Zhang Fei... why did you come to our area?" Lin Mang recited their name, a faint aura of animosity emitted out of his body.

For him to suddenly turn hostile, who could the group be other than the Zhang Clan?

"Haha" In front of that faint hostility, Zhang Fei simply laughed. On the surface, it looked like he was in quite the good mood; however, only Yang Chen knew what kind of a prickly situation the Zhang Clan was in currently.

They might be able to hide it from everyone but not from Yang Chen who was the main perpetrator behind their misfortune.

Zhang Fei was the fourth elder of the Zhang clan and one of the elders who fervently tried to investigate his origins when Yang Chen tried to con his way in as an Alchemist.

Unfortunately for them, he was able to dupe all the other elders and successfully poison the first elder before disappearing from their clan without alerting anyone.

The Fourth Elder might have regretted his choice back then until his stomach turned green.

After Zhang Fei spoke a few words to Lin Mang, he turned his attention towards the participant from the Lin Clan. He looked at Lin Dan and then at Yang Chen when he knitted his brows for a few seconds before moving on to the last remaining participant.

"Oh? So the rumour about the daughter of the Lin clan’s clan leader participating in this year’s entrance test was true? A genius capable of reaching the First Star Battle Master level at such a young age, really makes others envious. Congratulation brother Lin Mang, it looks like the Lin Clan has a bright future ahead" Zhang Fei congratulated putting up a merry smile.

However, how could Lin Mang not see through the other party’s empty gesture and that smile? They were saying something with their mouth but meant otherwise inside their heart.
