The Great Sword is not the Main Body! -
Chapter 1
“Hyaaah!”
The massive greatsword swung down from above, shattering an orc’s skull.
The recoil lifted my body slightly. Without pause, I used the sword as leverage, kicking my legs back. My body spun mid-air as I retrieved the greatsword.
“Hnngh!”
Once more, I brought the blade down from above.
“Haaah!”
Another orc in the sword’s path was cleaved in half.
“Whew!”
I caught my breath and landed.
Using my heightened senses, I scanned the area.
“One, two, three, four, five…!”
Five corpses lay sprawled on the ground.
I unfolded the mission scroll from the guild.
Though I couldn’t see the writing, my heightened senses clearly felt the indentations on the paper.
At the center was a mark shaped like the number 5.
Hermilla, the kind receptionist, had marked it for me.
“The world’s still worth living in! Hahaha!”
Chuckling at the thought of Hermilla, I drove the greatsword into the ground and let go.
My vision darkened, strength draining from my body. Hmm… is my mind going blank? Something like that.
“Still can’t get used to this…”
I crouched, pulling out the hammer strapped to my right thigh, and fumbled around the orc’s remaining torso.
The first thing I touched was… the orc’s nipple.
“Ugh…”
Moving up, I felt the collarbone, then higher, my fingers caught on a sharp tusk.
“Eww… it’s all sticky…”
Gripping the tooth tightly, I swung the hammer.
After a few swings, the resistance lessened.
“Okay, that should do it.”
I stood briefly to check, grasping the greatsword’s hilt.
Information about my surroundings flooded my mind.
As the sharp headache subsided, I assessed the state of the hammered orc head.
“A bit lower…”
Releasing the sword again, I crouched and swung the hammer near the gum area.
A sickening crunch, and lukewarm liquid splattered around my ankles.
“Ugh…”
Shuddering, I stood and gripped the sword hilt.
It wasn’t pretty, but the teeth had come out separately.
“Not bad.”
I gathered them up and stuffed them into the leather pouch at my waist.
After extracting teeth from the remaining orcs, I patted the now-heavy pouch, feeling satisfied.
“Today’s work is done!”
I strapped the greatsword to my waist and shouldered my hidden backpack.
Pulling out a cloth, I roughly wiped off the blood and started walking.
Time to collect my reward!
Screech—thud—screech—thud—
The greatsword at my waist dragged against the ground, creating a grating noise.
I looked back.
…Well, I couldn’t see, but I checked with my heightened senses.
Beside my footprints were marks from the dragging sword.
“Sigh…”
Frustrated, I tapped the sword with my fist and continued walking.
Screech—thud—screech—thud thud—!

“After deducting floor repair costs, your total is 1 gold. Excellent work, Miss Noah.”
Hermilla smiled brightly, handing over my payment.
Ah, this is why I love hunting.
“Th-thank… y-you… v-very… m-much…”
Contrary to my intentions, this pitiful body couldn’t even manage a simple thank you.
Internally sighing, I expanded my senses to survey my surroundings.
The musty smell of sweat. A wooden interior. A large, round dining table. Alcohol stains splattered across its surface. Boisterous, drunk adventurers. And in contrast, serious faces staring at the bulletin board.
It was a familiar scene I’d witnessed countless times in the game.
The game’s name was Black Sun.
A game I’d poured my heart and soul into for years.
It was a typical Souls-like MMORPG, but with incredibly freeform character customization.
The stat allocation system was standard, but you could gain extra points by lowering other stats or taking penalties.
This led to many characters with bizarre concepts.
I’d created about a third of them myself.
Then one day, a community post caught my eye:
[How about a short, flat-chested, greatsword-wielding blind girl? But I don’t know how to overcome the blindness penalty.]
Just the title hooked me.
This kind of concept… you won’t find it anywhere else, I thought, immediately logging in to create the character.
Gender: Female. Hair: Black. Eyes: Red. Class: Warrior. Weapon: Greatsword.
And I applied the blind penalty.
With the basics set, I needed a trait to overcome the penalty.
After extensive research, I found only one way:
A trait called “Heightened Senses,” obtained by maxing out Greatsword Mastery. It allowed clear perception of surroundings while wielding a greatsword.
Yes. While wielding it.
Without the greatsword, she’d be a helpless, pathetic short girl. But that didn’t matter.
It’s just a game, after all. Why would I ever put down my weapon?
The points needed for Heightened Senses were astronomical.
Even with the blind penalty points, it wasn’t nearly enough.
So, I decided to dump all sorts of stats.
Height: Minimum required to wield a greatsword—145.7 cm.
Agility: Bare minimum for hunting.
Weight: Lowest possible to wield a greatsword.
Stats like Charisma, Cooking, Crafting—all necessary for daily life—were discarded.
Low Charisma meant difficulty raising NPC affinity, making quests hard to obtain.
But who was I?
An 8-year veteran of Black Sun.
Veterans don’t care about that stuff.
I dumped it all without hesitation.
Cooking? Just buy potions for low health.
Crafting? The blacksmith can handle equipment maintenance.
Intelligence and other such stats? Unnecessary. It’s a game, after all.
Cooking… Crafting…!
Why would you need them in a game?!
Low on health? Just drink a potion!! All crafting can be done at the blacksmith!!
So I dumped everything! Why not?!
But! But!!!
I never imagined I’d be transported into that character…
Now, with life skills near zero, I can’t hold a proper conversation with NPCs or perform basic equipment maintenance.
Thanks to the oversized greatsword, I keep gouging the wooden floors of the adventurer’s guild.
Even with Heightened Senses, I can’t see letters, drawings, colors, or people’s faces.
Still, after two months, I’ve learned to detect some facial expressions by sensing muscle movements!
I’m amazing!
“Sigh…”
A sigh escaped my lips at my pitiful fate.
As I let out a deep, melancholic sigh, Hermilla gently patted my head, her voice filled with concern.
“Miss Noah, is something troubling you?”
“N-no…”
There is!
I really want to see your face, Hermilla!
I saw you often in the game, but never in person!
“If anything’s bothering you, you can always talk to me. I’ll listen after work, anytime. Okay?”
“Y-yes… thank you.”
I nodded slightly, feeling Hermilla’s comforting touch.
After a while, Hermilla seemed to remember something and spoke up.
“Oh, right. Miss Noah, we’ve received a specific request for you. Would you like to take it?”
“A-a specific request…? Um…”
That’s… unsettling.
And suspicious!
Why would they seek someone like me—barely able to hunt, lacking social skills, and blind?
Hmm… Is it my appearance?
Well, my face is cute.
I did pour all my creativity into the character design.
But if it’s someone interested in a short, flat-chested girl like this…
No way! I won’t do it, no matter the pay!
“I-I don’t want to—”
“The reward! The reward is 30 gold. Isn’t that fantastic?”
“I’ll do it!”
For that much, I’d sell my soul.
“Hehe, good decision. Shall I read the details for you?”
I nodded.
Hermilla carefully opened the envelope and unfolded the request letter.
Leaning in close, she whispered in my ear.
“Let’s see… It’s an escort mission to Cartia Village. The reward is 30 gold. And it says confidentiality is crucial?”
Confidentiality?
How do they know I’m good at keeping secrets?
“If you accept, the client will wait at the farthest corner of the adventurer’s guild at 1 PM on August 27th.”
The 27th… That’s tomorrow.
“T-tomorrow…?”
“That’s right. It’s a little past 6 PM now, so oh my, you’d better start preparing soon!”
It’s already 6 PM…?
Did I really spend 11 hours collecting orc teeth…?
And where is Cartia Village, anyway?
“Um… Miss Hermilla, how far is Cartia Village…?”
“Hmm, about a week by carriage, I’d say.”
“A week…?”
Hermilla paused briefly, then spoke again.
“Miss Noah… have you ever taken on such a long-term mission before?”
“No…”
“That’s alright. I’ll make a list of everything you need to prepare. Just follow it, and you’ll be fine.”
Wow… Hermilla, are you an angel…?
Why are you so kind to me?!
You won’t get anything out of it…!
My nose tingled with emotion.
When I get that 30 gold… I’m throwing a big party.
“Th-thank you… so much…”
“You’re welcome. For now, go wash up, Miss Noah. Come back after dinner, and I’ll give you the list.”
Choked up, I could only nod vigorously and head towards the inn.
As I left, I sensed Hermilla’s gaze—like I was a stray puppy she couldn’t help but worry about.
