Chapter 83: Dinner In The Vampire Lord’s Chambers

She sighed as a sense of relief suddenly washed over her when she was finally done writing, it felt as though a piece of her heart was embedded in it. She dropped the quill and neatly folded the letter which she kept inside one of the many drawers.

She looked out the window, wondering if lord Damien had a garden or not since she didn’t see one when they arrived. She thought of taking a stroll outside, but her eyes were heavy.

The nap in the carriage was uncomfortable from all the bumps and gallops, and the exquisite bed with silky sheets was just inviting. She slumped lazily on the soft bed, making her bounce gently on it.

She moaned satisfyingly, she could get used to this feeling of comfort and maybe, like it there. Living with lord Damien shouldn’t be that hard. She closed her eyes, feeling the silky sheets rubbing against her skin while the fireplace emanated warmth.

She slept like never before as she drowned into a deep slumber, while time fleeted at a rapid pace. Her nap would have been perfect, if not for the familiar crimson eyes that kept haunting her whenever she closed her eyes, the sinister gaze that always left her hopeless.

A hard knock on the door disrupted her nap, slowly bringing her back to reality, but for a moment, she was unsure of where she was as she quickly scurried out of the bed with frantic movements, thinking she was still in the castle.

She breathed out heavily as she looked around the slightly unfamiliar room, memories of how she got there slowly crammed her mind, making her feel relaxed, but she almost jumped out of her skin when she heard the loud banging on the door.

This time her brows furrowed darkly as she marched toward the door angrily, wondering who was disturbing with such loud knocks.

She opened the door with visible anger etched on her face, but it softened when she saw Lyla standing in front of her with an apologetic look on her face.

"I’m sorry for disturbing, I’ve been knocking for quite some time now." Lyla said.

"I’m sorry, I was asleep." She said, while she waited for her to speak.

"It’s fine. The Lord has invited you to have dinner with him." Lyla announced and Rama’s brows furrowed in confusion.

"Dinner?" Rama repeated and the maid nodded.

She found it hard to believe that she had slept till nighttime until she whipped her head back to look out the window. She hadn’t noticed it earlier, but the skies were already dark and now, the moonlight pooled over the study table.

She turned to face Lyla with a perplexed countenance.

"Right, I can’t believe I slept for so long." Rama muttered under her breath.

"It’s fine, when you’re ready, I’ll be here to show you the way, but I’ll advice you get ready quickly, the lord is patient but he doesn’t like his time being wasted." Lyla said with an awkward smile.

"It’s alright, I know my way to the dining hall." Rama said.

"Oh dear, you’re not having dinner with the lord in the dining hall, you’re having dinner with him in his chamber." The older woman said in a neutral tone.

Rama’s face turned grim for a split second, he didn’t seem like he would act discourteous with her, but dinner in his chamber was quite suspicious.

"I’ll help you lose the braids, you’ve slept on it, now its looking messy." Lyla said as she pulled her gently by the arm toward the dressing mirror while she sat down, making it unable for her to refuse.

It didn’t sit right with her to have dinner in lord Damien’s chamber moreover since when did vampires eat food? She pondered inwardly.

But he was the lord of the house, she had no say and could only do as he ordered, moreover he was preferable to Draco, at least he treated her like a human and not an object he’d gain possession of.

The older woman’s hands worked deftly on her hair as she removed the silver pins from her hair, before undoing the braids, making her hair cascade down her back and over her shoulders in beautiful silky waves.

Her head felt lighter as the braids loosened and the hairpins were removed, a sigh was forced from her lips. Although it seemed like a hassle to put so much work on styling her hair in the morning and now undoing them, but the woman didn’t seem bothered.

"You look even more lovely." Lyla exclaimed and she was no far from the truth, she did look lovely with the silky waves adorning her head.

"Thank you." Rama said as she took out a pair of black shoes from the wardrobe and put them on, as she got ready to meet lord Damien.

Luckily, they fit perfectly it felt as if the room was built for her specially, which was quite odd, because it would be impossible to get the clothes and shoes ready for her within a day when they had recently made the deal, but on the other side the room could have belonged to someone else, presumably his sister.

"Let’s get going, we’ve been keeping the lord waiting for so long." Lyla said in a slightly panicked state as she rushed out of the room.

Rama felt a bit wary of Lyla’s behaviour, it seemed as if crossing the lord resulted to dire consequences, maybe after all it was just a different devil, one that she hadn’t crossed yet.

Rama rushed behind Lyla with hastened footsteps down the hall as they proceeded to his chamber. They finally halted in front of towering double doors residing in the thick darkness of the corridor where there were fewer torches.

"Go in quickly, he’s expecting you already." Lyla said hurriedly and before Rama could speak, the woman fled from her sight as if she had seen a ghost.

One minute she was behaving rather normal, the next she was acting all strange and terrified because she had kept lord Damien waiting, it made her unnerved too.

She gulped slowly before opening the door slowly, a musky scent mixed with lavender greeted her nostrils as she moved into the very dimly lit room, where she could barely make out a thing.

Although she couldn’t see properly in the dimly lit chamber, everything greeting her sight was pure opulence, even the very air retained luxury in it. The room contained a comfortable, yet chilling atmosphere with a hint of mystery secluding the air.

Her eyes narrowed to the small dining table for two set up in the middle of the chamber with varieties of mouth watering meals left on display, but there was no sign of Damien.

She felt a gust of wind blow behind her and she whipped her head back, but there was nothing, she knew it was him, she could feel his presence.

She anticipated seeing him standing in front of her, and when she looked straight ahead, he was already seated at the dining table.

"Lady Rama." He called in a noble manner, while gesturing for her to take the seat opposite him.

"Lord Damien." She called with a slight bow as she slid her feet against the floor until she sat down at the table, his dark gaze never leaving her sight as he scrutinized her like a hawk.

A smirk tugged the corner of his lips up as his gaze flickered over her.

"You made me wait for so long, I was annoyed." He said in a calm voice, his countenance was rather stern but calm.

"I apologise, I was asleep." Rama said, her gaze flicking past the mouth watering delicacies that made her almost drool as the intoxicating aroma wafted into her nostrils.

"At least you didn’t disappoint. You look ravishing tonight, Rama." He said with a low drawl as he flashed her a charming smile that made her cringe.

It was obvious in his gestures and actions he was trying to win her over, by giving her a comfortable life in his mansion and treating Malika properly.

Deep down, she felt her subconsciousness pricking her. She wanted to be laid back, but even after leaving the castle, she still couldn’t help but feel wary that Draco was never letting her free, he had labeled her as his possession and vowed she would never be free from him.

Lord Damien on the other hand seemed nonchalant and carefree, he probably just thought of her as a toy to Draco, something he would easily get off his mind and forget about, something with little or no significance. She should have been, but she wasn’t.

"Thank you, Lord Damien, why did you ask to have dinner with me?" She queried, holding her firm gaze with his.

"I already told you the reason you’re here, and it’s to keep me company." He replied neutrally as he picked up a silver fork, which he used to stab a piece of meat he had cut out on his plate.

She watched as he ate it, savouring the juicy taste of the steak. It baffled her to see a vampire eating human food, mostly because she had never seen Draco eat.

"Ah, I see." She muttered, salivating at the sight of his mouth moved as he chewed on the meat.

"Go on and eat, that’s the whole purpose of dinner." He said and she nodded frantically as she averted her gaze from him.

"Or do you want to eat me instead?" He teased with a sarcastic grin.
