Chapter 40: Abode Of The Three Seers

Rama pressed her lips shut in silence as she averted her gaze away from him to look out the window as they passed through the forest.

"Has the feisty princess become tamed already? That was quick, you’re easy to scare." Draco implied in a lazy voice as he locked his gaze on her.

A scoff escaped from beneath her lips as a lopsided smirk curved the edge of her lips up.

"You can’t scare me, so stop trying to prove that you can. The only thing I feel toward you is repulse and disdain." Rama said with a firm tone as she peered her sharp gaze into his.

He abruptly leaned his upper body forward making her jolt backward with a small gasp, and she pressed her back against the chair with creased brows, as his face was only a few inches away from hers, she could feel his hot ragged breath whisking past her cheeks.

"Stop trying to act brave, Rama. I can smell the stench of fear you emit just by staring into my eyes. It reminds you of your unfortunate predicament and your living nightmare." He said with a low husky tone that emanated darkness from within and she felt her heartpace elevate as she stared into his blood red eyes that were clearer now in the light.

He sat back crossing one long leg over the other with sleek precise movements, not tearing his gaze off her as a sinister smile crossed his lips. He smiled a lot, but even his smile encompassed menace and dread which could make a person’s spine tingle.

"Just accept your fate as it is. I might just make you a bed warmer if you’re being willing, at least you’ll have a worthwhile role in the castle. You’ll be thanking me when I’m done anyway, so don’t give me that face." Draco drawled nonchalantly as he peered his red eyes lazily at her and a scowl mixed with disgust manifested on her face.

"I’ll have to refuse your offer. I guess the maids were right after all, you bed any gorgeous woman you set eyes on, enemy or not, which I find rather appalling." Rama stated out with irritation coating her tone and a soft chuckle escaped his lips.

"You’re no longer my enemy Rama, you’re a maid and I don’t see how business in bed concerns our personal relationship. There’s simply no strings attached, it’s just pleasure." He uttered nonchalantly with a sly smirk tearing across his daunting gorgeous face.

Rama stared at him with lips slightly parted in speechlessness and incredulity, the vampire king must have been out of his mind to have such a twisted mindset and perspective of thinking and to shamelessly spout those words.

"That will never happen, I assure you." Rama stated firmly as she glared at him.

"You’ll be nothing but a drained corpse if your role in the castle is frivolous, so I suggest you think twice about the decisions you make. You were a queen, I thought you were supposed to be smart." He remarked but his last sentence was said in a loud mutter.

"And why do you care? Drained corpse or not, what does it matter to you?" She snapped.

"Don’t flatter yourself, Rama." He said in a clipped tone and averted his gaze from her to stare out the window, but she caught a flicker of dark emotion glint in his eyes before it disappeared. It was distinct from the natural menace it retained and rather it felt provoked by a nostalgic memory.

She pondered on his statement nevertheless. It seemed as though being in the good side of a night creature as their mistresses, warranted them safety and a higher position in the castle, but she wouldn’t think twice before refusing his offer. It was incredulous and a simply unimaginable thing to do.

She looked out the window as they proceeded along the forest that intensified with eeriness and darkness as they verge deeper beyond the forest and the carriage weighed heavily with intense silence.

The forest felt eerie like a cloak of darkness and melancholy wearing over it and she noticed the trees were dried up as they took a different route in the woodland and murky silence suddenly encompassed the area.

The foggy mist surrounding the area generated an ethereal and sinister haze, with the temperature suddenly dropping in a beat which made goosebumps manifest on her skin from the cold and the eeriness.

She rubbed her arms together to derive warmth even though she was inside the carriage which made her anticipate how chilly it would be outside.

Soon, the thick foggy mist encompassed the entire vicinity, making nothing perceptible to her sight and she suddenly wondered what destination they were heading to and why he even took her along with him to a mysterious creepy location.

"Where are we heading to?" Rama blurted out in curiosity as she strained her eyes to see through the thick foggy mist outside the carriage.

"Honorifics." Draco said with a straight voice in air of authority.

"Where are we heading to, my lord?" Rama queried with a light tone.

"Suspense is the best, don’t you think?" Draco said with a sly smirk and a mischievous glint in his red eyes which made her wary about where they were heading to.

"The last time I was left in suspense, you took everything away from me, so I doubt it is the best." Rama pointed out, but there was no hint of sadness lingering in her voice, somehow she had learnt to strengthen her resolve and deviate from looking weak in front of him.

An amused chuckle erupted from his lips as he opened his mouth to speak.

"Still sulking, I see." Draco said with a nonchalant shrug as he grinned at her.

"Not sulking, just seething with rage." Rama gave a snarky reply.

"So where are we heading to? I hate being left in the dark and whatever strange place this is doesn’t suit my taste." She stated out and a deep sigh echoed from his lips.

"Are you usually instinctively annoying?" Draco queried, although there was no hint of irritation in his voice.

"I’m going to a seer." Draco added in a rather serious tone with a subtle expression on his face.

"A seer? Do you want to know how your gruesome end looks like?" Rama mocked, but the sharp glare he averted toward her direction made her lips immediately press shut.

"Do you want to know how your end looks like instead? I can show you without going to the seer." Draco threatened in a low growl which made the hair on her skin stand erect.

"I apologise, my lord." She said in a somber manner as she meekly lowered her head.

"Are you afraid of death now? I thought you were planning to kill yourself to escape from me." Draco uttered and her face whipped up to look at him with enlarged jade eyes in shock.

The carriage abruptly halted before she could stem a reply and Draco shut the door open without waiting for the coachman as he stepped outside into the fog.

"Aren’t you coming?" Draco asked in impatience and she frantically emerged from the carriage, heeding behind him as they moved in the fog that refused to clear off from its heavy thickness.

She moved with hurried footsteps to avoid losing Draco in the thick fog, as he moved with a fast pace as if he was sliding his feet across the floor and not walking. The cold air pricked her skin like ice daggers and she immediately noticed that she couldn’t see the sun emitting darkness into the vicinity.

Draco finally halted and the fog slowly faded to reveal a brick covered tower stretching upward to reach the sky and dreadful statues planted in front of the tower. Draco proceeded toward the double doors leading to the entrance and without knocking on the door, he pulled it open and emerged into the tower.

Thick darkness resided inside the place and she frantically extended her arms to assist her with her steps. Suddenly, the place brightened as the torches on the wall suddenly lit up to reveal an extended spiral brick staircase to reach the top floor and an eerie gust of wind whisked past them.

Draco proceeded to climbing the stairs and she pouted with a twisted face as she anticipated the lo journey up the stairs.

"Come on or I’ll leave you behind and then her snakes can feast on you." Draco said nonchalantly as he marched up the stairs while she lagged behind him with a frown etched on her face.

"She has snakes? You two are perfect for each other then, you both harbour feral creatures as pets." Rama grumbled, but Draco ignored her as he continued marching up the stairs.

They clambered on the endless stairs that made her legs numb as her knees felt weak as she panted heavily. She halted in her steps as she leaned against the wall for a moment before proceeding with ragged breath.

They finally reached the tower in front of a door engraved with strange inscribings and she slumped her body weakly to lean on the wall, not caring how disheveled she looked at the moment, while Draco just stared at her blankly, he didn’t break a sweat drop and was looking as gorgeous still.

Draco swung the door open and they emerged into the dimly lit room and Rama’s eyes dilated when her eyes caught the sight in front of her.
