Chapter 46: You Are Saved

The Crown

"Excuse me?" Typhon blurts out, his eyes widening for friction, "Is this some kind of joke to you, Your Highness?" He frowns, clearly infuriated by the idea.

"Lord Typhon, from which angle do you think that I am kidding?" I scoff, not liking his reaction as well. "I am being serious here." I cast a glance at Keith who looks like has been thrown into an abyss and now is lost, "He has a strong life force it seems. He is a pure demon but as he doesn’t have any magic in his veins then we can’t actually call him a demon though his blood is still very polluted to be a human."

"Oh my prince, please now tell me that you are a God and you are going to change his bloodline." Seraphina doesn’t even bother to sugarcoat her sarcasm, making my blood boil, "Please Lush, now don’t go take over the Gods’ job. I don’t think they will take it too kindly."

"Miss Seraphina, I would much appreciate it if you keep your ’advice’ to yourself." Edward snaps again, adjusting his glasses over his nose bridge once again, "Your advice isn’t really needed here."

Seraphina opens are mouth again to bite back like a wolf but before she can do that I take a little amount of light magic in the tip of my finger and knock it toward her. She lets out an agonized shriek as soon as the magic touches her skin. "What the fuck, Lush?!" She bares are teeth at me as if she is not a phoenix but a wolf.

"Though I should shut you up." I pin her with a glare and she flinches. I don’t usually glare at people if not needed because Edward says it’s intimidating. "Shut your crap. You are not needed in this conversation."

Seraphina looks as if she has just swallowed a lemon but doesn’t say anything. I turn to Typhon, my face serious, "And no I am not gonna change his bloodline. I am just gonna cleanse his blood."

Demons have a special kind of blood that is affected by dark magic and needs dark magic to circulate. I will just clean the blood with my magic and force his system to circulate like a normal human does. Though he will be saved, he won’t be able to use magic ever again. And he won’t be an actual human, nor he would be an actual demon. He will be something... I don’t know what to call it. But well, he will survive.

"He won’t be able to use magic ever again as well, if you guys are fine with it, then we can try it out on him," I add.

"I don’t think this is a good idea—" Typhon starts, his finger on his chin.

"Let’s do this." Keith pipes in, his voice is full of confidence and his eyes are full of hope. He turns to his master, "My Lord, I am already dying, even if I die in the process it would be just a normal death. And whether I try it out or not, I will die either way. So I think we should give it a chance. There is nothing that we lose from this but if it works then I might get to live for another few years."

Typhon’s expression changes briefly and Keith’s wide determined smile before he smiles at me like his usual self that gets under my skin so much that I cannot even explain. "So, Your Highness, if you take the honor to cleanse the blood of my servant."

I am about to upright deny him but I bite the underside of my cheek and smile back at him with my pissed smile, "My pleasure, Lord Typhon."

And we keep smiling at each other with our pissed-off smile for another moment. Keith’s eyes ping pong between us and the other sigh, even Seraphina sighs as well.

"Your Highness, please," Edward says pointedly.

I press my lips and turn to Keith, "Right." I let out a breath to calm myself.

So this is the mutual hatred between the historians have written about in the history books...

"Show me your wrists," I ask him for his hand and he offers it to me. I put my two fingers over his pulse and close my eyes to concentrate, "It shouldn’t hurt much as ninety-nine percent of your magic has already been sucked off but it is good to be careful. Tell me when you can’t take it anymore."

I don’t need to open my eyes to see Keith nodding his head and shutting his eyes tightly as if it will save him from the pain he is going to withstand within a moment. Everyone in the room holds their breath and Typhon, Seraphina, and Erick put a good amount of distance between us. Not surprising. They are demons after all.

I slowly start to channel my magic into Keith’s meridians. I can feel him shudder against my hold. His body trembles violently as I increase the amount of magic. After a few seconds, the room is filled with a blood-cruddling agonized scream of Keith as he falls to his knees and squirms for release. But I don’t let him go. He needs to withstand this pain.

I know how he might be feeling as if I am setting a fire on his blood, innards, and soul. But I am saving him from sure death, he needs to handle the pain.

"Y-Your Highness... don’t you think it is too much..." Edward is behind me, clutching the hem of my shirt like he used to when he was a kid and he was scared. There is no hint of his usual strict self. He has always been sensitive to this kind of thing. This is why the emperor, my father, was never assigned to the military even if he had an awesome battle advantage and IQ.

I don’t answer him and open my eyes, Keith’s eyes are rolled to the back of his head and his mouth is wide open, a terrifying scream has erupted from the depth of his throat. The color of his skin is changing. It’s turning to a more brown shade. After a few moments, when I make sure I have erased every trace of dark magic from his veins. I let him go.

"We are done, Keith." I say, my voice and expression ofter than before, "You are saved."
